Despite her threatening appearance, the woman, who had finally introduced herself as Serafina, seemed ill equipped for the battle at hand. While the assassin knew better than to assume someone’s spell base, he wondered about her first choice and its efficiency in dealing with the problem at hand. Whether it was a fluke, or her only viable spell was irrelevant, as Ethan stepped in to try and deal with the remaining using his blood magic.

Lewis was still not entirely sold on the power of blood magic, and while he had been offered a chance to learn it, he had decided its costs far outweighed the benefits. But then again, he was human, and Ethan was…something else. To watch his spells was something almost surreal, his blood moving quickly and methodically aiming every ‘arrow’ with the accuracy of a trained bowman. Perhaps whatever trade off he was given, if he even had the choice, was worth it.

When Ethan tagged him in, the teen couldn’t help but notice the emphasis on his name. Lewis tried to resist the urge to shoot him a glare as he passed, drawing back his bow and letting loose an arrow, swirling flames igniting from the point as it sailed through the air, cutting through a few of the insects and burning them.

“Hope this holds,” he said as he ran towards them, utilizing the protection spell to its fullest to take the fight a bit closer. He drew a throwing knife as the depleted swarm approached, tossing it through the air. The first was a direct hit, but the second and third throws were a miss.

Lewis clicked his tongue and cursed himself, drawing his main dagger and killing one of the insects that dared to get close. He threw another two knives, both hitting their targets clean on. Two more. He took a few steps back as one of the more aggressive insects struck against the barrier that Attie had made.

“Any ideas on how to deal with this? I’m not exactly equipped for this…” Lewis stated, rather obviously.

Seeing not only that her spell was working but it was also protecting the others made her feel a bit proud. But she was also aware that the protection wasn't strong enough. A smile appeared on her lips as Lewis and Ethan both worked to get rid of the bugs. It was clear that their tactics were as different as day and night yet they both relied on accuracy and long distance. Serafina's tactics appeared to be larger and took out some of the bugs but was closer to land. However it was still amazing to Attie to see all of this powerful magic. And she didn't even need to pay anybody to see it!

"You know its a shame that these aren't wasps or bees." Attie said slightly joking, "Cause normally we'd just smoke them out. Or we'd use vinegar with a mixture of poison to get them all to die. Oh well." 

After the last bug hit Lewis' magical force field hard, Attie knew it was time to spend all her concentration on the magic. She couldn't waste anymore time and she had to keep the magic going, otherwise these three would get pummeled by the poisonous stingers. Her eyes closed as she blocked all other thoughts from her mind. All she needed to do was to focus on the spell. Her lips moved as she muttered the ancient words. All the chaos, bugs, and world around her seemed to melt away as she fell deeper into focus. This spell was her whole world. Every thought and word was made for the spell, nothing more. 

Attie's eyes opened and a bright light shone from them. Her irises were gone and instead she had nothing but pure white eyes. The wand she held was glowing as bright as a flame and was almost as hot as one too. This was the concentration trance that she had learned back in Adeluna. With this trance, she would be able to focus completely on the spell, making it much more powerful than it was before. However, this also meant that she would not be able to respond nor move. Attie was aware of the outside world but she would not break the trance until the force field was no longer needed. 

The force field around Serafina, Attie, Lewis, and Ethan would become three times stronger than before.
