What I suggest if that's what you want is to make something in user events and when we open up user guilds (whenever that will be) move it to there.

This comes down to you doing the work as it's not for us to decide. From our standpoint it really only looks like you at the moment and we would need to put it to a vote to see if others want it as well. To avoid that and still make you happy I would do what I suggested above :) make your own character form for you to fill out and put it up as optional. Then you can come up with your own tag like [SRA] special rules apply. Link the user event thing to the thread and you would be golden.

Basically create a guild of writers who want to rp just like you and have a form for the characters in that guild. Open a DnD book and take the classes from that perhaps?

That way no work has to be done on our end, which makes us happy, and you are happy as well. (We got a lot on our plate. We only just got the shops filled with images)

No offense Xal, but adding an 'optional' skill tree type of structure into the website is a lot of work for the admins/mods. If it's optional than most people will always choose against and rather make up their own set of skills and abilities and bypass the whole "I need x amount of points before I get to use fireballs'
People can always just create a skill tree system Off-site for themselves if they want the challenge >.>
And besides, the Spell stores sort of acts like a skill tree- ish thing. We write and develop our characters to gain points so they can add abilities ^^

And having a set standard of races and classes will definitely limit writers. Especially those with a preset character like me. It might be handy for newbies in writing, or newbies in the world of Revaliir who want to start fresh. But for characters like mine where i have 8000+ years of history, world-building, abilities, bloodlines, timelines, etc… I'd hate for people to force me to tweak my characters just so they can fit in the world. And with old and Op characters like that, it gets increasingly harder to find RP-sites that actually allow characters like that. Because of the exact reasons that you suggest. They created their world with a preset list of races and classes. Meaning, I am forced to either change my 10+ years of writing effort or start a completely new character. In both cases, suck…. -.-

And again, if this list of races is optional then what's the point on adding it into the website? Although I would understand having a list of 'native' races/classes from -before- Timedeath, but that's more for lore sake more than game sake.

We could add the list of native races to the wiki but that might take some time aside from those that are blanatly written like Feeorin- Fairies Arri- Rosenite  etc etc

Tact is pretty important for the running and outreach of the site, but as a user, I'll give my unedited opinion here.

There are multiple role-playing boards out there, each with a different focus. The simple answer: If you want gaming elements, then play a game. If you want to write, then write.

On this particular site, the two are kept well-separated. The free-form aspect is clearly stated. To me, this would be no different than the reverse: joining on to one of the more structured sites, like a fan-fiction board for instance or one that follows DnD rules, and complaining about the lack of freedom. Same concept. There is an insane amount of work that goes into coding, and that would take a lot of re-balancing to make RPG structure a site-wide mechanic. The focus of Revaliir is definitely on writing and free-flowing creativity.

There is certainly room for writing groups on the site that share the sentiment for more structure. Proposing the entire site be molded around one opinion seems unreasonable to me though.

If you people would have actually read the whole conversation, IN NOT ONE OF MY POSTS DID I SAY THE SITE WOULD BE MOLDED TO FIT THIS ROLEPLAY STYLE, OR ANYBODY, AND I MEAN ANYONE, WOULD HAVE TO CHANGE A SINGLE THING ABOUT THEIR CHARACTERS AT. ALL. I even EMPHASIZED that the whole thing would be OPTIONAL and NOT CODED. The admins wouldn't have to do a THING. This post was more for general feedback about the OPTIONAL idea of a bit more structure in an OPTIONAL environment, And permission from the moderators to add this OPTIONAL style of play to the website via one or more OOC threads.

Nobody said a single thing about you having to participate or even remotely tweak anything about any of your characters at all.

To be honest if all you wanted was feedback then the suggestion board was the wrong place for it. I would have placed it in the Tavern Hall and asked if anyone would have been up for it.
