Serafina was incredibly happy to see Celeste, returning her hug and kissing her cheek in return, but her smile faded as Celeste reminded her of how upset Nemesis was going to be with her. "I know," she said, though there was something other than fear or trepidation in her voice now - it was clear that she was ready to face her sire, ready to hear whatever consequences he felt she was going to face. For all the weaknesses that Serafina had, neither Celeste nor Nemesis knew of them - but that time was about to come to a close.
She turned to look at Xerxez again after he had sat down. "Celeste, you will understand… I will make sure Nemesis does, as well. I have my reasons," she said, addressing her sister though her eyes were locked onto Xerxez. "I knew what I was getting into before I made the decision to bring him over," she added. She parted her lips to speak further, but froze before a sound came out, Nemesis having spoken her name.
She turned to face him and as she walked over, she stood up straight, looking directly into his eyes. If she feared him, she did not show it. As he questioned what she had done, his belittlement of her coupled with the stretching of the leather as he flexed his fist, and something about the combination pushed Serafina over the edge.
"What have I done? You have got to be fucking kidding me," she said, her now crimson eyes glaring straight into his own that had begun to shift to a jet black. "For over two thousand years of my life, I have devoted myself to you. Everything I have done has been for you. I killed for you, and I bled for you. When you brought Celeste home, without telling me, I was angry for a long, long time - but I got over it and I grew to love her," she said. For the time being, her voice remained even - but as she went on, her speech became less level, cracking here and there as her rage and utter sadness began to seep through.
For the first time in over two millennia, Serafina was beginning to show a weakness.
Serafina took a step forward to Nemesis until no space remained between the two. She got right up in his face, her words carrying an edge to them, almost as if she were about to start crying. "And then, things were fine. You and Celeste decided to try having children. I know you didn't ask me, because you know I've no desire to give birth to an… infant," she said. "But you never once asked me how I felt about the decision for the two of you to start a branch of family of your own," she added, her eyes having shifted to jet black on their own now.
"You might not think so, Nemesis, but you abandoned me. So I've been going out, fucking, killing… the usual. Trying to mask the fucking pain you have put me through. And then this one came to me," she said, clearly indicating Xerxez. "He was strong, and he didn't give a fuck about the rules," she said, clearly mirroring qualities of herself in that logic. "So maybe I made a decision on my own that I'm not supposed to, but guess what? When he turned, I could see it in his eyes - loyalty, desire… passion," she said, her eyes wide, the black pools full of rage. "And you? Oh, Nemesis… you did something you weren't supposed to do, too, Nemesis," she said, her voice raising. "You may not know it, but you abandoned me the moment you made that thing with Celeste." Her words were biting, but she knew deep down that Celeste would understand what she meant.
She paused, her hands trembling. She took two steps backwards from him, looking at him with narrowed eyes. She pointed a finger at him accusingly. "You didn't choose me. You didn't choose us," she said, clearly meaning herself and Celeste collectively. "You chose Celeste. And you've left me to wonder what good I am anymore. I am done feeling less than anything. I can't do it anymore. I CAN'T BE ALONE ANYMORE!" The last phrase of her sentence was screamed at the top of her lungs, showing more emotion than she had ever allowed her sire to see, the rage having blinded her to anything but making Nemesis know what she felt he had done to her.
