"Lady Kythe?"
"Hello Ry'at, please just call me Kythe, I've told you before," she said softly, smiling at the Au-Ra male as he peered around the door to her office.
"My apologies, Kythe, we've had word from our scouts out in the forest perimeter that Little Ones are leading someone astray again. I just wanted to know if you wanted us to leave them to it or rescue them from the meddling little woodfolk?" The Au-Ra said with a small smile.
Sighing Kythe rolled her eyes. "Well they're diligent little buggers I'll give them that. Have we had word as to who they are?"
"From what the scouts can tell it's a young tiger girl, sadly the Little Ones keep diverting them before our scouts can get a decent enough look at them." He muttered.
"A tiger girl? I've met two, it could be one of them… leave it to me, I'll go and see if they're alright myself." Kythe said, standing up and putting her papers away.
"Are you sure? The weather has turned and the storm is fierce…"
Kythe's gaze narrowed at the Au-Ra and he grinned sheepishly at her. "I'll send you down to sit with Mordekai if you're not careful." She chuckled, dismissing him with a wave of her hand. "I'm pregnant, not an invalid, and no storm is going to hurt me for goodness sake."
Shutting the door to her office she chatted with her honour guard as they walked through the corridors, greeting other members of the Guild as they went, before parting ways in the Guild proper - Ry'at returning to his duties and leaving his Guild Leader to venture into the forest alone.

Kythe was one of the few people who could communicate with the woodland folk of this particular forest, but more than that she was one of the very few people that they actually listened to. The Guild members had all been given candles to light once in the forest, it was a signal to the Little Ones that they were an ally and not to be led astray, but Kythe did not require it - in fact most of the Au-Ra did not, since they had lived alongside the Little Ones for so long that they had come to a silent agreement to live in blissful ignorance of one another…
The heavens above her head had opened, the raindrops thick and fast, but she did not mind. Kythe had always enjoyed a good thunderstorm, especially when strolling through the thick foliage of a forest - there was something quite tranquil about that in her opinion. Once inside the forest she stopped, resting a hand on one of the large tree trunks on the outskirts to the ruins, smiling as several pairs of glowing eyes met her. "I hear that we have a guest? Would you mind leading me to them?" She asked, chuckling as she saw the eyes bobbing up and down in agreement, before they turned and scurried away - only one little silhouette lingering on the path, waiting to lead her to the poor soul they had been tormenting during the storm…

The winds were strong in the face, easily messing up her soaked hair as the tigerkin pushed to seek shelter. Her right arm carried her metal beam of a sword over her shoulder as her left was arched above her eyes to try and stop the rain from getting into them while not blinding her. Oh, the smell of rain was strong before she went into the river to catch some fish, and look where it got her now. At the very least, a glimmer of hope was up ahead: a thicket of trees that delved into the woodlands. While navigating it would still be hard, the leaves would act a quick answer for the sky water… Just not a complete one.

Once within the woodlands a few trees in, she slowed her pace to catch her breath, leaving her alone for the moment aside from the rattling foliage above and the rattle of chain links that resided near her neck. Ptanting the end of her sword into the soft soil, she used her hands to push out any water that was locked in her bangs, feeling the water go down her nose and on her chest, leaving the damp hair to cling to her forehead… before more drops struck her head from up top from the falling storm breaking through the leaves. A shelter, this was not.

As she hoisted her weapon back onto her shoulder, a small, glowing figure caught her eye. It was hard for her to really say what it was in the first place, part of it do to the smell of the rain drowning out her sense of smell. All she could really work with was her gut as the little… thing was coursing her to follow. She was not sure if she could actually trust the little thing, there were not very many options, and her confidence in her strength said she could easily put-do it if it dared to be threatening.

Deeper into the woods they went, and the thicker the trees became. Her eyes were always looking around, trying to see where it was trying to head to, but all it really did was move in sudden, sharp directions. Her feet paused for a couple moments, trying to hear for footsteps of any kind, in case of an ambush, but as the rain affected her nose, the drumming of the leaves above made it difficult to hear much else. However, the stops also came with the price of shivers down her spine, as the cold air struck her with the fabric clinging close on her skin. She could use a heat ball right now, but first would be a more solid solution from the sky water…

Kythe followed after the Little Ones, smiling softly as she heard the scurrying footsteps of more than a dozen of them, following from the shadows. The little woodland folk tended not to let themselves be seen, sticking to the shadows and weaving their illusion magic to lead poor, wandering souls astray. Most of the time they would lead such people back out of their forests, though on occasion they did like to trap them for longer periods… leaving some to die in fact. As a defence for the Guild they were extremely handy, and while Kythe never condoned the unnecessary deaths of others, she understood that sometimes that was the way of life. She was old enough that she was not so naive to believe that everyone could be let out of the forest…

As the Little Ones led her deeper into the forest, Kythe witnessed a couple of their Elders lumbering through the trees, shifting shadows who looked nothing like the mischievous woodland folk, but Kythe knew that this was what they became in their adult years. She nodded her head to the hulking figures, whose soulless eyes stared out at her through the gloom. Softly she urged her guides to lead her to their guest quicker, the storm was getting worse and soon it would be difficult to traverse the paths.

Here, in the thick of the forest, Kythe finally spotted the poor soul who had been led astray, and she smiled at the sight of the girl. "Well now! This is an unexpected surprise!" She laughed heartily, waving to the tigerkin girl who had given her aid only a few months before. "My apologies dear, the Little Ones tend to lead strangers off the path to protect my Guild Hall. Come, let's get you back to the Guild proper where it is warm and dry, I think you could use a drink and some food. Yes?" She smiled, placing a wing over the girl's head to protect her from any further drenching.

There was no acknowledgement to the voice that greeted her. Not even a flicker of the ear catching the sound that overpowered the rain striking the canopy. There was no reaction to the wing that shielded her more from the sputter of water that broke through, dampening the land below as the storm worsened. All there was was the dull footsteps forward, glazed-over eyes  checking only her right before turning and heading forward with just the strength to keep her weapon with her out of pure instinct.

The damp floor below told plenty of a tale. For as long as Eden was head into the woodlands, the Little One that discovered her had her walk past two trees, turn, walk past two more, and kept so over and over around the same three. It kept her there for a good bit to ensure she was safe from the rain until someone investigated her, but now the Little One was actually looking quite worried. Was its enchantment too strong on the poor woman or were her mental defenses that weak to fall so deep into its trap? After all, the glaze over Eden's eyes fogged away most reality from her and the whistling that the Little One did to initially snag her with was now constantly ringing in her ears, despite stopping some time ago.

Still, the guild leader was there, and seems to trust the tiger woman, so the Little One hatched itself a quick plan. Scurrying itself onto the leader's shoulder, it began a new whistle when Eden was once again turning in their direction. It was enough to alter the "script" that she was seeing, causing Eden's blank eyes to look back at Kythe before pushing herself along. Sure, she was still trapped in this illusion, but at least Kythe could lead her to a safer place than this to solve it… right?
