The strangest thing about Edelweiss's plight was the necromancers and their influence after the tragic events of the kingdom's destruction. They didn't exist for long but they left a mark on history. They even managed to make a wisp undead which violated many rules the ancient deities had... Especially since wisps were considered souls of the dead in the first place. This wisp deadlight, as Edelweiss residents called it, is capable of giving off enough light for a small group of people underground. The light this dead wisp gives off almost pulsates and is not a steady source of illumination.
