Larka was thankful for the light that Harmony had made for them.  "I don't have much magic in me to speak of, only enough for my bellow and most of the rest comes from my Reaver powers.  Otherwise, I'm just a normal human woman… well, normal is relative, but you know what I mean."  Larka chuckled as they continued further into the ruins.

The fog over took them and Larka asked a question she should have before.  Harmony was in the middle of answering when she was cut off and Larka's head snapped to look at her with the skeletal hand wrapped around her neck.  Larka went to attack but the fext teleported away to the other side of the large room having lifted Harmony off of her feet.  Larka growled and took off at a run, it seemed the thing didn't think she was any threat since she had no magic, she'd show it!  And, of course, save Harmony.  Larka was fast, not magically enchanted fast, but her long legs and stride and the shape she was in put her at a fast pace.

When she was close Larka used her momentum to bicycle kick the fext in the side, as it head was too high for her to reach.  Larka liked to kick like this after a run, since it put all of her weight and speed behind her booted foot, and the boney fext made a screech as it was taken by surprise by the human's attack.  That sent it sprawling, but Larka didn't stay back to check on Harmony, she had sheathed her blade and now had her knuckle duster around her fingers.  Larka jumped on it pinning its arms down with her feet and leaned down to start wailing punches down on its head.  "Fuck, you, and, you're, fucking, magic!"  Each word was an added punch to the head as she yelled it, until bone cracked and one last punch shattered the skull.

Larka took a deep breath and backed away from it, looking around for Harmony.  "Are you alright, Harmony?"  Larka asked once she found the younger woman.  "I'm betting that thing won't stay down for long unless we find the phylactery ri… oomph!"  Larka felt an invisible force hit her and she was sent flying across the room until she impacted a wall with a grunt and dropped to the floor.  Her leather armour had taken some of the impact for her, but she was winded as she struggled to her feet.

In the meantime, the fext had gotten back up again, it's skull reformed and now it was angry, angrier that is.  It waved a hand and a magical lance was sent at Larka and as she stood woozily to her feet caught her in the right shoulder, making her cry out in pain for a moment as blood flowed out as the lance dissipated.  But when Larka opened her eyes they had turned blood red and she got back to her feet more easily this time as her muscled tightened and a fear inducing aura started to emit from her.  Larka had a wicked smile on her face as the fext teleported again in front of her this time.  "Harmony, cover!"  Larka warned but only gave her a split second to react before Larka inhaled deep and let out a bellow that sent a concussive wave of force blasting from her.  The fext screeched again as it was sent flailing away from Larka, apparently having never dealt with something like what Larha had done before, and other debris was tossed about from the Reaver's bellow.  As things went silent again Larka, eyes still blood red with blood oozing from her wound that she seemed to be ignoring, charged forward again with her knuckle dusters.  She break each bone on that thing if she needed to give Harmony time to attack it or find the phylactery and kill permanently this time.

While Harmony did not always approve of physical violence, she had to admit that it was rather effective in this case.  She fell to the ground as soon as the fext turned its attention to Larka, and she scrambled towards the dropped candlestick.  The slash to her arm burned as she approached, but Harmony had been through much worse pain.  Grasping the candlestick in one hand, she held her other hand over it, and started to feel through the magic that tied the fext's soul into the artifact.  In all her training, she'd had a bit of trouble with the unraveling of spells, but once Harmony had grasped the technique she had become quite proficient at it.  The sound of bones splintering and Larka's voice calling out made Harmony glance up, and she nodded, but kept at what she was doing.  Brute force would only get them so far.

And Larka's impact with the wall told Harmony the fext had regenerated itself already.  Faster than she had expected too, and Harmony refocused her efforts on the phylactery.  There was always a catch, always a flaw, to the spellwork where souls were concerned.  She could still hear the lesson echoing through her mind, that souls were always seeking to free themselves, and the soul itself would create a flaw in the magic as a means of trying to escape.  It was just a matter of finding where that flaw was…  And there was the catch.  She ducked behind an outcropping at Larka's shouted warning, but kept focused on her task.  She knew that she would have to destroy this relic to finally put an end to the threat.

Slowly closing her hand in a fist, Harmony carefully drew out the flaw in the magic.  Then she yanked.  The fext screamed again, but this time in anguish rather than outrage.  Harmony yelled out her own warning.  "Larka, get away from it!"  The fext started to collapse in on itself, appearing to be sucked into a vortex of energy.  As Larka stumbled away from it, Harmony could see the vortex growing, but it collapsed into itself, releasing a final burst of energy.  She ducked again, but it wasn't even strong enough to knock Larka off her feet.  And that was it.  "Well.  Now you can add having fought a fext to your list," Harmony said with a grin.  She started to mend her own wound as she walked over to her new friend, and started tending to Larka as well.  "Lets look around before we leave, there might be some useful artifacts in here," she suggested.  Fexts were magpies when it came to interesting things.

Larka had not know what Harmony was doing behind while she fought with the fext, her sole focus on was keeping its attention on her and doing whatever damage she could. Yes it could regenerate itself but that took a little time here and there away from it actually trying to attack. So when Harmony yelled out her warning to get away from it, Larka dove from the thing as she turned to watch the fext's demise.

She watched start to fold in on itself, which was rather disturbing really, going into a vortex until it released a wave of power. Larka raised her arm to shield herself but then it was over and she breathed a heavy sigh. She looked to Harmony when she spoke and grinned. ”Oh goody.” Larka chuckled and now that her powers drained from her the wound on her shoulder started to really hurt. But Harmony was nice enough to help with that and started to heal it. ”Thank you, and, I agree, I'd rather not have done that for nothing but killing it.” Larka replied. ”Could have gone worse, but over the years I have gotten somewhat used to fighting those that have magical powers when I do not.” She explained.

After Harmony was finished healing the wound Larka found her sword again and sheathed it before helping Harmony start to look for some treasure. After a while Larka smiled at something she found. ”Well now, what have we here?” She removed from a box a blade with a blade around seven inches long, it had a heat radiating off of it. Larka inspected it and as she did the blade started to glow hotter. ”That's interesting, I wonder how it works. The handle isn't hot and I can't feel the heat from the blade on my hand either, but clearer it got hotter.” She thought a moment and wondered if the blade could hotter, and then it did! ”Oh, wait, I think I got it.”

She smiled. ”If I think about wanting the blade hotter.” She did and the blade started to glow even more. ”It does, but, if I want to get cooler.” She did and the blade started to cool down until she was able to touch the blade against her bare skin and nothing happened, it just felt like steel. ”Now that is going to come in handy.” She chuckled, she'd have to get a sheath made for it, would be a good replacement for her normal steel dagger. ”Find anything Harmony?” Larka asked turning to see if she had and help look some more if Harmony hadn't found anything.
