With a handshake confirming the reconciliation of their differences, the rocky start between the two was smoothed over. While Serci overlooked what looked like rubbish, Shiloh took them anyway. The best thing about scholars was that they didn't really care if the item in question was in bad shape. As long as it had enough form and structure for them to analyze and draw conjectures from, it was completely acceptable. While he went ahead to look around, her ears picked up the sound of pottery shattering and went into high alert. Shoving the last item in her hands into her knapsack she rushed to the location of the noise.

"What happened? I heard something shatter just now." As she was reaching the top of the stairs, she saw Serci standing on the rooftop looking out into the horizon. Then there was an ungodly racket coming from below–from all sides. Looking over the edge, she nearly bit her tongue at the sight of possibly all of the undead in outer Aysut congregating on their location. Her first thought went towards the other scavengers still out there. Positively thinking, it could be that their unintentional mess would draw the undead away from everyone else. But realistically speaking, it likely just made things all-around worse.

"…Good lord. This is going to be a pain and a half." Pressing the tip of an index finger to her forehead, she did a quick run through their current options. Surprisingly, this was actually more salvageable than one would think. "Alright, we can get through these. Which feels really weird to say when you're talking about nigh-invulnerable, regenerating undead. I've got a plan. I've already told everyone else out here to leave as soon as things turn ugly, but now that the mummies are honing in on us we can make use of this." Turning to him, she cracked a wry smirk. "Get your sword ready; we're not going to fight them head-on–we're going to plow through." Pulling out a small bottle filled with what appeared to be stardust, she tossed it into the air before throwing herself off the edge of the roof. Catching the small bottle as it fell, she hurtled towards the ground straight into the thick of the growing horde.

It would look like a suicide attempt at a first glance, but this was all according to plan. The protective aura emitted by the bottle of starlight sent the mummies flying as it displaced them from a twenty-foot radius around her. This time her tactic was to draw as much attention as possible in order to lead the greatest amount of the undead away with them from Aysut's influence. Holding the starlight bottle in her hand, she beckoned him to come down with her other.

"When all else fails, move on to plan B. And when that plan fails, move on to the next plan."

Serci watched as Shiloh calculated the possibilities in her head. Every now and then, he'd cast looks at the mummies over the edge and wonder how they'd escape. After a few minutes, Shiloh spoke to prepare his sword. Very well then. "My sword will cut all of those in our way." Serci grabbed his sheathe and yanked the sword out of the sheathe, slashing at the air before he raised the sword to the sun, casting its shadow over the mummies. It's green glow grew three times in strenght and size at Serci's determination. "A story for those back at camp, Shiloh. Let's make it good." He watched as she threw a bottle up in the air, and… jumped off the roof of the building… He ran to the edge, careful to not fall off and watched as the mummies parted way in the light of the bottle. So, this was your plan, he thought. He was hesitant at first to jump this far from ground, but gathered the strength and jumped with a running start. It was a graceful leap, arms spread high as he reached the apex of his jump and began to decsend.

Several seconds passed as he felt a sholting pain in his legs. He let his momuntem contininue and he rolled on his shoulder. Shiloh beckend him to follow as they began running in between the mummies as they began to part around them. Every now and then, a mummy would break through, eaither a gap in the barrier, or if they were pushed in from the many mummies behind it. Shiloh's words echoed his mind. "We're not going to fight them. We are going to plow through." His goal wasn't to kill the mummies. Just indepacitate them from following him and Shiloh. He ran ahead Shiloh, and bashed the mummy with his sheild, sending the rotting creature flying back into the pack. Shiloh and Serci kept up their sprint, Serci doing his best trying not to trip in the loose sand. Behind them, a mummy was pushed into the circle and Serci fell back to knock the creature out. Reading the massive hook the mummy was about to throw, Serci held out his shield, and threw and overhead stab, impaling the creature in the head. A strange brown liquid dripped down his sword as he launched a massive kick, sliding the mummy off the sword. Before he knew it, the cirlce's end was close and he spritned to catch up to Shiloh.

Another mummy was pushed into the circle not to far from him up ahead. He crossed his body with his left foot and the momuentum unfurl as he launched a massive spin attack, sending the mummy towards the ground. Up ahead the mummies were thinning out. The end was close. He started shouting, gathering a crowd in the back, to distract the undead from Shiloh's companions. After slashing a few more rotting corpses, the large looming buildings of the undead long behind them, they bursted out of the hoarde at full sprint. Tripping over a dune, Serci tumbled a couple of feet in rough sand. He lay on his back, looking up at the clear sky with the shining sun dead over him. He had never laughed so hard in his entire laugh as the adrline pumped through his body.

"Shiloh! You are amazing! What even was in that bottle?" He asked, a smile wide across his face. He pushed his self up and dusted off his clothes, his white and grey robes now a mixture between brown and a soft red. "Oh, man! That was amazing! Do you want to go back to your friends? How are the artifacts we collected?"

Things were going as smooth as clockwork as they broke through the ranks of the swarming mummies. Serci did well to keep them off their tail while she pushed ahead, and soon they had a massive following of close to half a hundred of the shambling walkers. Once the horde relented, they had pulled a sizable amount of the undead forces further from the pyramid's reach. Finally no longer being pursued, she stopped to catch her breath. She heard a soft thump not too far away, and looked to see the paladin on his back in the sand. He had a look of exhilaration all over his face, and she grinned as she coughed to get more air into her lungs. In all his life, she bet he'd never done anything as wild as this.

As he got up he asked her about that curious glass bottle she had used. "It's a little gift from a deity–the owner of the library called Tar Eisalae." Holding it up, she shook the contents and watched the starlight swirl in hues of blue and shimmering purple. "You can never have too many of these. They're better used when you set them on the ground or on a flat even surface, but they'll provide a circle of protection regardless." Her breathing rate and heartbeat now back to normal, she straightened up and surveyed the sands. "Yeah, let's go check on them. I don't know how effective our distraction was, and I don't intend on leaving until everybody in the group is accounted for. We found a good haul this time around, I'd say it's time to call it a day."

Seeing her borrowed mount was still safe where she had left it, she shaded her eyes with a hand as she waited for whenever Serci was ready. They'd then return to the designated meeting point which she had discussed with the other scavengers beforehand. There were people congregated there already, and she did a quick headcount once they were close enough. "We're missing a group. Where's Gale?" She asked the remaining members of the scouting party. "I haven't seen her since we broke off into our groups." A man with an eyepatch spoke up. "She went in with some creatures, a sphinx and that phoenix of hers." Shiloh crossed her arms and frowned. "…We'll stay here for five more minutes. If she doesn't show up, we're going back in. No complaints, you know we don't leave people behind."

"When all else fails, move on to plan B. And when that plan fails, move on to the next plan."
