"Let us be fair and say that any craftsman would be angry to see their goods ruined or stolen. After all, they placed so much heart into it," Jesgil stated as she prepared a large spoonful, "though when it comes to food, many chefs I have had the honor to be with often feel more insulted when someone eats another place's food at their establishments. Taverns are no exception." With that on the table, she popped the bite into her mouth. Besides, what real "value" would a pirate get for stealing food? No, it was more of other kind of goods they had on hand that would be of better offer, whether it be actual items or themselves since good bet they had not had much company in bed.

After all, while the rule of parley certainly separated the ships from harming one another, individuals such as the three were exceptions. After all, one man or woman would dare not try to declare war over an entire ship for stolen goods. No, the eyes around them were more about what else they had to offer, not the half-eaten meals. No, they were better off having insurance to fend for themselves and make it seem like too much work for what anticipated value they had. The Kitsune's words were one way. Jesgil just stapled a bit of her own. With the bite finished, the Draconian sighed in relief, a puff of breath coming from her lips: tiny ice particles. The instant she opened her eyes, they gleamed gold, slitted by the light that filled the road for a simple moment before shifting again to normal, causing more eyes to stare away.

"Ah, but you see, don't we all come from our own stories," Jesgil played, spinning her spoon in the air, "each with tales from the journeys we have all been on, each one being as unique from any other? It is up to the bards of this world to find those that are the best, and turn those tales into legends." The last bit was ended with a wink to Akori, seeing as she was familiar with her line of work. "Now, why don't we first take care of these meals before us before we seek room and refuge?" After all, the morning sun was still in mid-rise, heading towards its peak. "I am sure we can make a deal with the innkeeper is coin a little tight," she chuckled before taking in yet another large bite.

Kyra Tivares

Race: Half-Elf

Class: Bard/Trickster/Dancer

"True. " Kyra said with a smirk.

She looked at the two strangers. It was odd for people to be so friendly here. The half elf didn't mind but she found it slightly funny. A maid and two musicians walk down the street…it sounded like the beginning of a joke. Listening to the two of them, she could tell that they enjoyed life too. A small sigh escaped her pink lips. She'd rather be in the presence of people who enjoyed life instead of those who were too uptight to do anything or too depressed to have fun.

"A duet would be awesome!"
Enthusiasm ran throughout her mind. "I agree. Life would be absolutely dull without any sort of fun."

Swinging her feet gently as she sat on the crate, she wondered if they would be staying here tonight or if they were going to continue traveling. There was no need to ask. Her inner questions were answered when Akori mentioned finding a place to stay.

"Yeah. Lets finish up the food first. Then when we get to an inn we can probably work together to make some money."
The half elf said with a smile, "I'm sure that it will be a nice surprise to have a musician and a dancer. And if you ever need a break then we can switch. If all else fails, I can always steal a bit of coin or bargain."

She had little issue with stealing if it meant a decently secured place to sleep.

Akori Renu

Character Info
Name: Akori Renu
Age: 400 Years
Alignment: CG
Race: Kitsune
Gender: Female
Class: Bard & Thundermage
Silver: 273
Gesturing vaguely with her spoon, Akori nodded in agreement with Jesgil's words on craftsmanship and injured pride. Hurriedly, she finished her mouthful so she could speak, disregarding the burning so she could speak her piece.
"I saw a fight break out between two minstrels, because one of 'em was stealing lyrics and music from the other. Only he was more charismatic, so he ended up getting a sweet gig at some noble's house, and the other guy was left singing in taverns. It was right messy," she said, before popping more food in her mouth. She had gotten cavalier with the spicy dish however, and found the mouthful a bit more than she was comfortable with. Looking slightly panicked, she gulped down the food, and tore a hunk of cheese from the slice to try and abate the burning. Alright, so maybe she was still adjusting to spicy foods. Live and learn, right?

The thought that brigands might be after her rather than her possessions hadn't slipped her mind, no matter how carefree and oblivious she may appear otherwise. Though she didn't much go for shows of force or skill to deter threats, she nonetheless grinned at Jesgil after the other exhaled a puff of chilled air, eyes gleaming gold for a scant second. Ah, so definitely more going on there than met the eye - excellent! Oh, she had nothing against pure-blood humans, rather the opposite, but it was always fun to meet someone a little more…unusual. A few hungry eyes found somewhere else to look after the display, and the kitsune smirked to herself as she continued to eat, albeit with a bit more care. Still, she made sure the bladed-fan was in easy reach, dangling from her belt. More of a gimmick than a serious weapon, but that's what she had her magic for, wasn't it?

"I'm working on a song about us as we speak," Akori quipped around a mouthful, returning Jesgil's wink with a nod.
"What kind of dancing do you usually go for?" she asked Kyra, before spooning more food into her mouth. She wanted to finish the meal, and get on with their duet, but she would respect the spicy dish and eat at a slow, consistent pace. Maybe that had been the chef's intention when concocting this recipe? It certainly ensured diners didn't rush through a meal.
"Or shall I play what comes to mind, and we see where it leads?" Being that was how she usually preformed, with minor alterations depending on audience, Akori was more than happy with this plan.
"I'd prefer not to resort to stealing - I think they outnumber us quite heavily," Akori mused. Truly, she'd prefer not to pilfer money from anyone, though she wasn't entirely innocent - she had stolen before. Small trinkets, food, odds and ends she had then buried in a flower-bed. Nothing life changing, just small objects of interest.

As the two talked more about their "battle plan" of a performance, Jesgil chuckled to herself as she worked to finish off her meal as did Akori. It seemed the idea of a duet with Kyra had stoked the flames of muse and was revving to get started, even if there was no concrete plans or rehearsals being set. It would be risky to wing it without knowing each other's styles, but the ability to ad-lib and improvise was what made the difference between a performer and a bard.

With the platters of food settled (and the talk of sticky fingers hopefully shied away), the trio took to the streets, driving themselves to the closest tavern and inn they could grasp: the most popular and largest of them all resting near the port. After all, if a ship was in mass repair, where else would the crew slumber? That was Jesgil's mindset when she chose to investigate, at least. Sure, it was big, but at the same time, it was quite the sty. Shattered glass carelessly brushed to the walls, broken tables here and there from bar fights, and the occasional vomit stain from too much indulgence. Sanitary, this place was not.

"Not often we see a collection of gals come through these doors," a voice told them, breaking through the silence, coming from the Goliath that stood behind the counter, decorated with a powerful build and intimidating tribal tattoos across his arms, face, and beneath his shirt. "How can we help?" As much of a threat he seemed to be, Jesgil did not bat an eye as she stepped forth.

"Hello. We were hoping for a night's sta–"

"120 silver," he was quick to snap back. Probably 40 each, which still seemed quite heavy for the state of the business. Then again, the price of necessity.

"Would you be willing to barter for a smaller fee?" Jesgil asked back, the rise of his brow meaning he was interested. "We are not but a couple of performers and care takers who found themselves here. Maybe we can use these services in placement of the cost?"

"Hmm…" he mulled over to himself. "Just look at this place. Most people that drop by only care for a clean glass and a bed not snapped in two. Tell ya what: If you can draw in more customers with your act and straighten up this joint, I will reduce your price. Just note that if you cannot perform as stated and cannot pay for the rooms, there will be other ways you will pay it off…"
