Gesturing vaguely with her spoon, Akori nodded in agreement with Jesgil's words on craftsmanship and injured pride. Hurriedly, she finished her mouthful so she could speak, disregarding the burning so she could speak her piece.
"I saw a fight break out between two minstrels, because one of 'em was stealing lyrics and music from the other. Only he was more charismatic, so he ended up getting a sweet gig at some noble's house, and the other guy was left singing in taverns. It was right messy," she said, before popping more food in her mouth. She had gotten cavalier with the spicy dish however, and found the mouthful a bit more than she was comfortable with. Looking slightly panicked, she gulped down the food, and tore a hunk of cheese from the slice to try and abate the burning. Alright, so maybe she was still adjusting to spicy foods. Live and learn, right?
The thought that brigands might be after her rather than her possessions hadn't slipped her mind, no matter how carefree and oblivious she may appear otherwise. Though she didn't much go for shows of force or skill to deter threats, she nonetheless grinned at Jesgil after the other exhaled a puff of chilled air, eyes gleaming gold for a scant second. Ah, so definitely more going on there than met the eye - excellent! Oh, she had nothing against pure-blood humans, rather the opposite, but it was always fun to meet someone a little more…unusual. A few hungry eyes found somewhere else to look after the display, and the kitsune smirked to herself as she continued to eat, albeit with a bit more care. Still, she made sure the bladed-fan was in easy reach, dangling from her belt. More of a gimmick than a serious weapon, but that's what she had her magic for, wasn't it?
"I'm working on a song about us as we speak," Akori quipped around a mouthful, returning Jesgil's wink with a nod.
"What kind of dancing do you usually go for?" she asked Kyra, before spooning more food into her mouth. She wanted to finish the meal, and get on with their duet, but she would respect the spicy dish and eat at a slow, consistent pace. Maybe that had been the chef's intention when concocting this recipe? It certainly ensured diners didn't rush through a meal.
"Or shall I play what comes to mind, and we see where it leads?" Being that was how she usually preformed, with minor alterations depending on audience, Akori was more than happy with this plan.
"I'd prefer not to resort to stealing - I think they outnumber us quite heavily," Akori mused. Truly, she'd prefer not to pilfer money from anyone, though she wasn't entirely innocent - she had stolen before. Small trinkets, food, odds and ends she had then buried in a flower-bed. Nothing life changing, just small objects of interest.
