He nodded slowly as she repeated his instruction and his fingers eased ever so slightly as he also began to focus.  Underneath his hand he could feel her heart, could feel his own in his chest and knew just how synchronized they were.  That was much easier than it usually was, and he hadn’t even had to do anything to urge it, for some reason her body and energy seemed to act obediently.  Had it not been working in his favor and had they not obviously been strangers then he would have been more suspicious of that ease.  For now though he concentrated on his own energy, letting it reach and meld with hers…so that he’d be able to pull it into himself.

The waves continued to lap up the shoreline and he knew it had nothing to do with what he was doing, but took solace as the water’s surface inched higher and higher from their knees, up their thighs, their hips.  All the way until it was even up to her stomach; leaving his arm wrapped around her hip to be submerged.  That’s where it paused though, only dipping whenever the waves decided to recede with the now steady tide.

The air around them blew faster, with more purpose, circling around the both of them and causing his hair to fly this way and that while her bun thankfully kept her hair in one place.  His arms wrapped more, the touch almost desperate until he finally felt the link.  Keeping himself grounded, his toes curled in the wet sand, feeling the various life forms that wriggled beneath it, a few feet ahead of them, miles along into the depths: for that one moment all of them were connected and it was at that second that he started to pull her energy into himself.

The lines on his arms, down his neck, his back, all of them glowed brighter the more of her he pulled into himself.  His blood pumped harder in his veins, any fatigue in his muscles melted away, and he felt his well of power slowly restore itself.  But then…it kept going.  His eyebrows furrowed, though his eyes remained closed as he continued to pull from her.  Usually for someone of her size and race he would have felt it start to dwindle away from her…or at the very least feel her body start to slack.  But no, she stayed just as she had been from the beginning: as if he’d sapped nothing from her.

His lips parted, his breathing growing shakier as he felt his energy building higher and higher and his fingers gripped harder at her hip and chest.  She spoke but he didn’t answer her, trying to find an end to this supply and coming up with nothing.  More spilled into him and the waves crashed harder, the wind whipping around them at a near dangerous speed.  Intoxication started and then all at once it was like a slam into his brain.  As much as he enjoyed this seemingly endless spring of energy he could tell when too much was too much and quickly moved his arms from around her; all but tossing her into water as his hands moved up into his hair, gripping there tightly.

When his eyes opened they shone so brightly he could see their light against the undulating water.  As he slowly brought his hands down from his hair he looked at his arms, taking note that the lines there were doing the same thing.  A cautious smile formed on his lips, followed by a short laugh…and then another, another, until his chest was rising and falling quickly from it.  How had he ever been tired?!  He felt as if he could keep going for at least another week without sleep.

She was calm. More calm than she should have been considering the circumstances. She was in the arms of a stranger that seemed to be increasingly powerful. Maybe the water really was his element. Was that what he was? Some sort of sea creature? She had spent plenty of time in all of the elements and had never had a reaction like his. The best she got was cold. But here, in the arms of this river touched stranger, she could feel everything about the element. It was amazing, and, had she the emotional capacity to hold the concept, she would have found it somewhat terrifying.

She kept her eyes closed despite her curiosity. He was helping her see, right? See deeper into the ocean? See whatever it was that had driven her to this place. This was his place of power. He knew what was going on. But, despite his confidence, she wasn’t seeing; not really. Sure, she was able to see deeper into the abyss of the sea due to his vibrations; thanks in large part to the sync that they currently held. But nothing in the sea seemed important, or out of place to her. It was true that she was not overly experienced in the ways magick, at least not in this world, but she was not certain what she should be looking for.

All at once, it all fell away. The vibrations that extended her site disappeared from around her; replaced instead by the cold, salty grasp of the sea. She was under the water. Why? She spun around in the water to fact the male, a feint glimmer of concern touching her heart, only to see him standing where she left him; power surging from his eyes. It was powerful. It was de alonusahi. It was, very possible, exactly what brought her to his arms.

Slowly, and with an uncharacteristically large amount of caution, she rose from the water; taking a short, muted gasp to fill her lungs. She was in awe. At least, in her version of awe. Had he been this powerful the whole time? Why did he keep this fact from her when she had been so forthcoming with her intentions? The questions, as they often did, ran through the corridors of her mind; living out a million possibilities all at the same time.

”Are you… okay?” she uttered; her mind finally deciding on a singular course.

Despite her cautious movements, her voice came out just as blunt and emotionless as usual. Some things never change. Then again, looking at her companion, one could say some things do. ”Was this how you’re going to help me?”
