A young woman wearing a grey cloak wandered through the thick forest of the Highlands. Her face was difficult to see due to her hood but her wild hair was long enough to be seen. On her back was a large backpack with a staff strapped on the back. It was obvious that she was some sort of traveler. The only thing that might have said otherwise were her worn purple slippers that seemed to be too old to be particularly useful. She looked as though she was a peasant due to her lack of jewelry and lower class clothing. The oddest thing about this woman was what was curled around her shoulders which seemed to be an overgrown lizard with folded wings the size of a large rabbit. It's scales were the shade of a beautiful rose but it's face was as black as the night itself. The woman didn't seem to mind the baby dragon as she traveled. This woman was Tristana. She could feel the sun beating down upon her as she continued forwards down the path that went through the highlands. Suddenly Tristana paused for a moment and took out her map from her bag. She examined the map for a minute then sighed. Her eyes searched her surroundings until she was staring at a tree near the path. It only took Tristana a few seconds to decide to rest for a moment underneath the tree. She plopped down at the base of the tree and looked up into the sky. How long had it been since she had started her journey? At this point she had traveled to Adeluna City, the Bohar Plains, and even parts of Parvpora yet hadn't found the one person she had been looking for. The one person who she barely knew. However Tristana knew that she wouldn't and couldn't give up. The baby dragon that had been resting on her shoulders was awake now and hopped off of her shoulders to the ground like some sort of cat. It then sniffed the air and started to follow the sent.

Quickly Tristana took out a piece of dried meat and used it to lure the baby dragon back to her area. Then she used the dried meat to play with her baby dragon. It was fascinating to watch the dragon crouch down and follow the meat like it was some sort of predator. Tristana then let the dragon have the piece of meat it chased after. Then she stroke it's scales and the dragon in response put it's head underneath her hand as if to say pet me here. She smiled and began stroking it's little head. Tristana could remember when the baby dragon had hatched out of what she thought was just a stone. Apparently it was an egg. It was still just a newborn so Tristana was extremely cautious whenever letting her dragon come with her on her travels. Not that she had any choice since the dragon would have to come with her seeing as Tristana didn't have a dragon babysitter. And having the dragon wasn't always easy. Despite being a newborn it's bite still hurt and there were so many scratches on her hands due to the baby dragon. The little one had burned one of her robes and even used a book she wanted to read as a scratching post. However Tristana still loved and cared for the dragon even with the many difficulties. She also knew that it wasn't wise to have the dragon just be out and about in cities and other places since dragon scales were used as selling items. But here in the wild there wasn't as much need for concern. And it wasn't as if Tristana was heading anywhere particularly dangerous here. She was simply passing through. Tristana closed her eyes for a moment and let herself relax. The trees and forests in the Highlands felt incredibly relaxing. Of course there were monsters and such around but she was sticking to the path and if anyone came near her dragon would warn her. So for now she could rest. Then she realized something. Her eyes opened and looked to her baby dragon.

"You know I haven't given you a name yet." She said out loud, "Well… let me think. Let's go with…Medi."

The dragon just curled up in her lap and began to sleep too.

"Some guard you are." Tristana said jokingly with a smile, "I guess I'll be on guard this time."

The afternoon winds were quite refreshing, feeling the air flow upon her wings. There, upon the branches of the thick oak that rested in the midst of the highlands did a fairly young fae resided, belly upon one of the thick branches as she used t he leaves as a pillow. Even with the sun's bearing heat, the shade the leaves gave and the calming winds made it easy for her to take in the peaceful setting, napping through the afternoon before evening began to hit. Nothing but her, the calming winds, and the modified crossbow that rested a few branches below her… Nothing could ever interrupt such a peace.

Except for one small inconvenience, it seemed. Below her, upon the grassy floor where the massive oak rested, did a woman find herself, playing with a baby dragon. It was certainly amusing from her spot to watch the little tyke giving chased to the jerky. Was she training it to hunt, or would it grow up playing with its food all the time? Simple beings, dragons were. If she taught it to consider her as a treasure, she would certainly have a grand protector on her side, though many a time has she read tales where such things were done too far, and such courting was a challenge in-of itself. After all, a man was going to take such a damsel of a treasure, the dragon had to make sure she was safe!

Still, watching the dragon fall asleep in her lap was adorable (for now) and placed a light smile on her face. "I do hope he will grow up into a grand ally," Vinca thought out loud, certainly enough for the other to catch her voice from above, "or is he a she? Well, I guess it matters not at the moment." Pulling herself up into a sitting position, the two-foot tall fairy dropped down a branch, smiling at the other down below. "I do hope I did not bother you."

Tristana was surprised when she heard a small voice coming from the green trees above her. She squinted her eyes to avoid the rays of the sun as she looked upwards in search of the voice. Then she spotted a winged woman drop down to a lower brown branch. Tristana was rather surprised seeing as she had never before seen someone with wings before. Tristana continued stroking the scales of the baby dragon to ensure that it didn't wake up. She'd rather not have a little dragon flying around in a panic. Medi had never really met anybody besides Tristana so she didn't really know how Medi would react. Tristana looked over to the winged stranger and gave her a smile.

"Oh no you aren't bothering us at all." Tristana said quickly, "The dragon is a she. And I hope we do become friends in the future."

Tristana was choosing her words carefully. She didn't really intend on training the dragon to view her any specific way. In fact she was not expecting for Medi to stay around when it was an adult. Even if Tristana was raising the dragon that didn't mean that it would stay in the future. After all every animal left it's home and parents eventually. It was Tristana's job for now to prepare Medi to be a good dragon in the future. To make sure that Medi was prepared to hunt, travel, and be able to defend herself against other dragons. This all would be a difficult thing and some things about dragons Tristana didn't have enough information. However Tristana could teach the dragon basics and give it enough love and care to last a lifetime. Then when it became an adult the dragon would be well-adjusted and ready to begin it's own life with responsibility and education guiding its way. Or at least thats the optimistic plan that Tristana had.
