Hiro stood strong, even though his body ached from being slammed against a tree, and having to parry his enemies' powerful blows. The two soldier ants were weakened, but were still fighting. As if getting impatient, the one that took the least amount of damage charged toward Hiro, thrusting it's spears at him. Moving quickly, Hiro jumped over the attack, and twisted his body around, swinging his blade at the ant's giant eyes, blinding it in a flash of flame and steel. The creature screamed in it's strange screeching, alien language, collapsing on the ground. Hiro landed on its back, and motioned for the next soldier ant to come at him. The soldier ant seemed to be sizing up his enemy, deciding its next course of action, when the soldier ant Hiro was standing on suddenly flung Hiro off his back. Hiro was sent flying toward the other soldier ant, who launched a barrage of thrusts with both spears.
Hiro cursed, and swung his blade, trying to parry the thrusts in midair. Hiro felt a sharp piercing pain against his cheek, and a couple of strikes against his armored sides. The other soldier ant spun around, swinging one of its spears in a wide sweep, striking the Phoenix Knight with the haft of the spear, sending him flying across the battlefield, striking another tree, and smashing right through it. Hiro coughed up blood as he hit the ground. He slowly struggled to get back onto his feet, his whole body in terrible pain. Maybe it was a bad idea to tackle the strongest two ants around. He heard something about a call for a retreat.
Hiro gathered his strength as the two soldier ants gathered over him. One was heavily bleeding from the remains of its eyes, which somehow did not entirely impeded its movement. Maybe it shared senses with the other ants in the area. He blinded two eyes out of many, and the second ant was entirely focused on Hiro. Hiro had dropped his blade at some point, he was bare handed. It was time for a desperation move. This was something he had practiced before, but it was still difficult for him to pull off. It was draining, especially when Hiro was already pretty drained and injured. Hiro calmed his mind, and focused his senses. He blocked out everything else around him besides his two enemies and what he was about to do.
He channeled his mana through his hands, crossing his arms. His magical power started to increase as he focused more and more of his magic around him. Then he split his attention, and focused on two different things.
Force of Flame. Sharpness of Lightning.
Fire and electricity unite.
Flames start surrounding his hands, followed by lightning. They both started merging together, forming an incredibly powerful combination. It was super heated flame, further energized by electrical energy.
Plasma.
Hiro swung his arms outward with a primal scream, pointing them both at the soldier ants, and unleashing an incredible twin spell. Jets of purplish, super-heated energy, ripped forth from the Phoenix Knight's armored hands, piercing through both soldier ants' bodies with a powerful crack, sending bits of burning debris from their exoskeletons flying. The plasma carved right through their bodies, incinerating any bits of matter, be it exoskeleton, or bodily fluids, in a straight path through them. The plasma died down around Hiro's hands, and two soldier ants collapsed, dead on the ground. The young man's hands felt like they were burning, from the inside out.. It was some kind of backlash against unleashing that kind of power that he just started tapping into recently.
". . . Told you I had something worse planned. Crushed you under my bloody boot! Stupid, friggin' ants," Hiro quipped, as he spat on one of the ants he had just killed.
Hiro started limping toward the tree that he'd cracked in half, found his sword, and placed it back in its sheath, with great effort, since his hands were in such pain. He started to follow everyone else who was retreating. He'd consumed most of his strength taking out those two ants, and it took a great deal of effort to keep moving. He felt his legs starting to give out from under him, when something or somehow managed to catch his upper body before he hit the ground. He didn't know if it was a common soldier, or if it was a fellow warrior/volunteer who had seen what he had just did. They started to help him keep up with everyone else who was retreating.
