Paradox had a strange feeling she'd been here before. She recalled visiting a library once before, the memory making her smile. It had been when she had only recently ventured into the land of man and she was still getting used to the unnatural confines fo their environment. The end result being the knocking over of several bookcases, people, and artifacts over the course of the day. Fortunately, she had met a very nice young man that had helped her out and escorted her around the rest of the library. She was curious about what had happened to him. Like most people in her life, they appeared only for a brief moment and then disappeared. It was a shame, but such was life and her traveling ways.

The school and library looked quite different now than when she had first come. The whole land was covered in a nice covering of snow, blanketing everything in a layer of white. She walked along the sidewalk, or where it should have been, but was no buried in snow. It was good snow, not slick and slippery, so she didn't have to worry about sliding around. The snow coated the branches of the trees and sparkled on the ground from the sun. She couldn't help but smile at the natural beauty around her. It was cool enough that the snow hadn't begun to melt, but the sun was still able to be out. It was a gorgeous day. She found herself the perfect spot a short distance from the library, underneath a large tree.

The mighty branches had kept the snow from reaching the lush grass underneath. Ducking her head, she stepped out of the snow and curled up by the trunk of the tree. She folded her legs neatly beneath her, likely her little nest of snow. The tree let in decent light as well, as well as the branches being cut high enough she could stand up if she had to. She could watch the students and staff going back and forth if she chose, but she was still out of the way. She leaned against the trunk, loosening her jacket a little so she could turn and reach her saddlebags. Unclipping one, she reached inside and pulled out what she was looking for. It was a book she had obtained in her travels, one of very few she owned. Now seemed like the perfect time to start reading it. She had looked forward to it for quite some time.

Perking her ears forward in interest, she opened the covers and flipped the pages to the beginning of the book. It was a fascinating read, about the history of the country and the various kingdoms. She stretched out a hind leg along the grass as she flipped through the pages and flicked her tail along the ground. The ground was still frozen so she didn't have to worry about the hairs getting caked in mud. She brushed a strand of her mane out of her eyes and tucked it behind her ear. She occasionally glanced up from the pages to look at people that walked by, but then returned to her book. It had been a long time since she'd gotten an opportunity to read.

Kimari Redmane

Character Info
Name: Kimari Redmane
Age: 21
Alignment: None
Race: Centaur
Gender: Female
Class:
Silver: 773
Kimari Redman shivered, pulling her cloak around her tighter as a cold breeze blew over her. She frowned and flicked her tail, grumbling beneath her breath, swearing slightly about the freezing weather. This was not at all something that the centaur woman was accustomed to, which in turned caused her to be a very discontented individual indeed.

The centaur glanced around and sighed. So far she could tell that she was the only centaur in the area. Of course. She never did see any of her own race. When she did she chose to avoid them, as they normally weren't so friendly. If only she could come across another of her kind that didn't want to force her to join some sort of group just because of her hunting and fighting skills. Yet on the flip side, there were many people and centaurs alike that did not have much to do with her in that way because of the fact she was a woman. Her eyes still flickered over the people as she made her way towards the library. As she did she happened to look down and noticed hoof prints, which were not her own. Sighing, the young centaur woman glanced at the tracks, following them to an enormous tree.

Kimari had some words already thought up and ready to go off on the one she thought was just some rider taking advantage of some poor horse because they were too lazy to walk on their own. However, as her gaze passed beneath the tree she saw the other centaur beneath the tree. "Huh…" She mumbled, a bit taken aback by seeing one of her own kind; one that appeared to be friendly. "Hello there," She called to the other centaur, slowing picking her way over to the tree.

The book was interesting, so much knowledge and history was packed within its pages. There were several kingdoms and important families throughout the years. There was a prominent line, the Rosenites, that periodically popped in and out of the families. There appeared to be many of them, from all across the country and Paradox enjoyed reading about the family. She was engrossed in a page when the sound of hooves on stone caught her attention. She flicked an ear in the sound's direction but didn't look up from the text. It was likely just an individual out on a ride. She was tempted to look up but refrained and instead focused on her book. She heard the steps get closer and then stop. She kept herself from exhaling a sigh, she really didn't want to talk right now.

She heard a young woman speak near her. She slowly peeled her eyes away from the page, slightly annoyed at the disturbance. Her slightly pinned ears said as much. She took a double glance at the woman, no, not a woman. Her lower half was that of a horse. Her ears perked forward, her interest in the book forgotten. She looked the centaur up and down. Most apparent was her pinto coloring, blotches of dark red and white covered her lower half. Her mane and tail were dark red, whereas three of her four hooves were white. She had a pale complexion on her human half and bright blue eyes.  A cloak was wrapped around her shoulders.

Paradox was quiet as she put her book back in her saddlebags, not turning her eyes off the other female. Slowly, she gathered her forelegs underneath her and stood upright. She was slightly bigger than the pinto, her body more muscular and stocky, but not much taller. It was strange to see another centaur around these parts, come to think of it. She hadn't seen another centaur since she'd left her herd. This girl didn't look like any from her herd, she couldn't recall any paints. She opened her mouth to speak, but it took a moment for sound to come out.

"Hello," she said quietly, still slightly in shock at the sight of another centaur. "Do you have a name? What are you doing here? Where is your herd? Are you lost?" She had so many questions, but she didn't want to rush the young mare with too many at once. She took a step toward her, her ears still perked forward in interest as she observed the younger female. She turned her head to the side and flicked her tail slightly. It had been a long time since she'd had to interact with her own kind. Men and elves were so much easier to talk to now.
