Ayla scoffed a bit and laughed towards the end once he mentioned crew. “What crew?” It wasn’t a disrespect towards Nemesis but the captain. They had made sure he got the message loud and clear. Either he wouldn’t do them wrong anymore or he would run away like a coward and they would have to hire a new captain and crew. Either way, it would work well in their favor.
Tilting her head at the news of a job she crossed her arms and went ahead of Ivan. Only her honey eyes looked towards her mate as she beckoned him to follow her. Now wasn’t the time to play around. Celeste wasn’t far behind as she too wanted to hear what this job of Nemesis’s was. It wasn’t often he came up with one so quickly even if his mind was crafty this was Ivan he was dealing with. She thought this would be another long assignment so they couldn’t come home so soon… but his words surprised her. Normally the woman was stoic in her approach but the look of shock was clear across her face. This wasn’t what she had expected to hear. He would let Ivan willingly back into the house more?
She let her arms drop but only for a brief second as she reached her hand up and rubbed the back of her neck. “How can we turn down such a generous offer. I’m sure Ivan would love to come home more often.” He did dote on his adoptive mother with a full heart. “Consider it done.” Not that she was underestimating this new job but with a gift like that being dangled she knew that Ivan would be particularly invested in it being done right. At least she would hope he was.
“And where might we find this lovely little bunch of merrymakers? I think we’ll go say hello. It’s been a while since we stretched our limbs fully.” She did love a good hunt. It almost made her a bit too giddy to have a job like this handed to her.
