Relief flooded through Attie's mind when Raile decided to entertain the girl with all of his items. It seemed that the thought of battle had been long forgotten about and instead they were enjoying the moment. After all, sometimes a moment was all that they had. If they didn't enjoy it now, they never would. Raile suddenly mentioned a party and Attie's eyes lit up with delight. She had never been to a real party before and the idea of it excited her. Mira appeared to be excited too as the child was speaking rapidly. Attie couldn't understand everything that the little girl said but she could understand a few things.

Things like y, una, and Dónde está were familiar words to her since she had heard Mira speak them several times before. Y seemed to be like the word and. As for the others, Attie didn't quite understand them but she knew that Dónde was typically involved in a question. Though Attie and Mira didn't speak the same language, it seemed Attie was beginning to understand her the more that they spoke. Another thing that Mira did was holding out her pinky finger to the both of them. It seemed that the little girl was making a promise so Attie wrapped her pinky around the child's to complete the promise. Attie suspected it had something to do with the party. Perhaps the child was making a promise to attend the party? 

"I swear to go to the party too." Attie said, assuming that is what the child had said. 

This was a peaceful and softer end of all the battles she had been in. Attie wondered what would be around the corner after all of this was over.
