After his first few words, Veda lost interest. The stranger had become boring. Everything that came out of his mouth seemed to be the same thing. Insults and worthless words. Veda's ears perked up at the sound of something else far more interesting. Leaping from her position on the branch, she landed on the forest floor and ran into the bushes. The scent of a strange monster guided her. Tracking it down took some time. Hundreds of other scents and strange things fought for her attention.

At one point, she had almost lost it. The creature had traveled across a river, making the scent more difficult to track. Veda used the strange prints this creature made in the dirt to find it again. Eventually, the demon was close enough to see what she had been after. A spider the size of a horse was crawling towards something hiding in the bushes. Thoughts ran through Veda's mind as she tried to figure out how much the giant spider would be worth if she caught it. Was it worth the risk?

Before she could really figure that out, she had already started moving towards the monster. The spider was distracted by whatever was in the bushes. Veda ran up to it from behind and leaped onto its back, launching both her back and front claws into its back. A screech of alarm came from the spider as it tried to shake the demon off. She held on as best as she could, having her claws to help her. The spider changed tactics. It started backing up into a tree to try to slam Veda into it or at least scare her off its back. Moving quickly, Veda shoved her back feet claws into the bottom half of the spider.

Her front claws were on the front half of the spider. She used all of her strength to push the two halves apart, in order to rip the spider itself apart. Her first attempt failed and she felt the impact of a tree on her back. The spider moved forwards to try to run back into the tree again. This time the demon had to get it right. If the spider had any bones, like a cow did, then this would be next to impossible. Using all the strength she had in her body, she desperately tried to rip the spider in half. It failed but the demon had done something right. The spider began to become limp. Veda realized that she had destroyed its heart with her back claws. She stabbed the back half of the spider again and again until she was certain that the creature was dead.
