This was going to take so much energy. Even being a deity, he was worried about the lasting effects it could have on him. Even if said struggles only lasted for an hour, that was great for someone like him. No time to waste then. When he was sure that she was in the air and safe, he pulled his bandanna up over his lips and nose and walked into the burning village. The heat was excruciating, and while his clothing singed in some places, his skin remained safe. While the town wasn’t exceptionally large, he still had to be sure that he was directly in the center of it before continuing.

The dirt roads came to a crux and he stopped; looking from side to side as if someone might actually be there to do anything. All he heard was the roar of the flames and the fall of debris. He let his staff go and it hovered in front of him so that he could rub his hands together. Sooty air filled his lungs in deep slow breaths. With each one he felt his body heal itself, recharging him so much that his markings were glowing with blinding force. As this happened he built up power around himself with aid from Torinasu at his hip.

Working with storms was not his area of expertise, but the skill was not unknown to him. After all, what was lightning if not another form of light itself? Light, power, fire, life: all of it came together in that one striking bolt. There was hardly enough moisture in the air to work with, but he focused on the air itself, the heat, the life of the fire around him. He slowly brought his hands in and pressed his palms together, gathering his own personal energy and willing it to move about him in a clockwise spiral. His own energy melded with that of the air around him, and he closed his eyes.

The crescent staff began to slowly spin in front of him as he focused until it was going so quickly that it was merely a blur. Not that he could see it with his eyes closed anyways, but it was another grounding force to help channel his energy properly. The increase in oxygen only fed the fires more and they grew stubbornly in their own protest. With gritted teeth, he closed his eyes tighter and sent out a pulse of his own energy. That was enough to turn the rush of air spiraling around him into a fast-moving vortex.

Soon his hair was whipping around his face, and only then did he open his eyes. Here he was safe in the eye of the steadily growing tornado, as was his staff, and he reached forward and took it between both hands once more: stilling its spinning. Now that the cyclone was in affect it was all easy trails from here. He was careful to spread his legs to keep safe footing, and began to move the staff: holding it half above himself to urge the winds faster and faster until he couldn’t even see the town any more.

It was time to urge the fires up. His eyes glowed brighter, all hint of color gone from them, left only with radiant white as his toes lifted up from the ground. He rose up through the spout until he was hovering in the air above it: looking down at the burning town being wind whipped. For now, the staff was no longer needed and he sent it back from where he’d summoned it and outstretched both hands. The bandana around his face had long since been lost to the wind, and he directed everything purely with his fingers.

All of the smoke and flame was directed into the tornado itself, effectively smothering it and shooting the ash and soot into the air where they could be purified from the air by forming clouds. Lightning cracked across the dark clouds, stronger than any other natural forming bolts could be since his own energy was blended in: holy light mixing with sheer force of nature. Even though it was working, it was still one of the most draining things he had done in a while. After all, as previously stated, working with the weather was not his domain even if he had the ability.

Slams of thunder threatened to deafen his ears as they clapped dangerously close to his ears. Not yet, he thought to himself. Only when the last of the flames was dead did he loosen his grip on the tornado. And just like that it began to die down. The shift in temperatures was enough, and the filled clouds released showers of rain to cool the smoldering remains of the village below. The job was done, and he was soaked. He was still a good one hundred feet in the air, but with no further suspension he knew it would only last for so long, and he quickly teleported himself back down to the ground.

He pushed his wet hair back with shaking fingers, enjoying the chilling sensation of the rain for a moment as he tried his best to calm. Tonight, he’d need at least ten suppers to restore himself, and was sure that all of it would burn off before he could swallow a mouthful. Where was the girl though…? His eyes searched the skies as he walked away from the black remnants of the town, hoping that she had stayed safe during the whole ordeal.
