Orphaned…?

Frey listened closely, his curiosity sufficiently piqued. By the end of Hagar's summation, Frey was smiling back, if a bit reservedly still.

"I see. Thank you for sharing that with me." Thinking further on it, though the mage had no wish to get close to any of this realm's residents, he also had no reason specifically to spurn them… And he would no doubt have some rougher patches coming up concerning where his travels were wont to take him. Having another along might be wiser than not. "I sense your will to aid is genuine, and I do appreciate it. I'll… I'll think on it. Not going anywhere tonight, at any rate."

He shrugged. It was as much of a concession as he was willing to offer for the time being.

"If you don't mind my asking, what manner of things did you learn as a shaman?"

If they were to potentially be travelling together as allies, Frey supposed it'd be good for him to know just what the man brought to the table.

Hagar's lips spread into a huge smile when LeSilve said that he would consider letting the shaman join him in his travels.

" I agree, it's much to dark to be traveling anywhere tonight." Hagar said before letting out a laugh.

LeSilve then asked Hagar to explain some of the things that his master taught him about the ways of the Shaman. Hagar figured this was a good question, if they were to be traveling together it would be good to know the skills they each possess. "Well I know some elemental magic, I know astral projection so that I can travel to other realms, I can speak to the plants and animals of nature, among other nature based abilities." Hagar stopped talking for a moment. He channeled his energy and focused it on telepathically speaking to LeSilve. "I can also speak telepathically to others through the means of telepathy."

Hagar then began channeling his spirit animal so that he could perform his transformation. "My favorite ability though is the power to transform into my spirit animal; the mighty and majestic wolf."Hagar began his transformation. His skin quickly sprouted black fur, he grew fangs and claws, and he lowered himself onto all fours as his hands and feet became paws. A large wolf with black fur and blue eyes now stood in the Shaman's place. He spoke telepathically to LeSilve once more. "I'm also trying to learn new skills as I go but they require much meditation and focus to learn. So, now that you know my abilities let me ask you, what skills do you possess?"

There was something oddly endearing about the shaman's insistence, something reminiscent of another old friend of his. Frey sighed in resignation, then smiled his usual ghost of a smile. The man probably thought he'd already won.

And probably, Frey mused in bittersweet fashion, he had.

The mage nodded in understanding as Hagar listed some of his abilities. Everything seemed well and good up until the moment of Hagar's intrusion into his mind. At once, Frey balked, starting again in surprise and eyes narrowing subtly in distaste. He simply nodded and said nothing for the time being, content to watch as the shaman went about his transformation. The telepathic communication was not so much a surprise this time, though it was no more welcome. Biting down anxiously on his lower lip, the mage offered a lopsided smile.

"I understand the need for telepathy in that form but, if you don't mind… I'd much rather avoid that route where otherwise possible." With a rueful shake of his head, he continued, raising up his skeletal arm. A small green flame flickered atop it, preceded by a runic circle flaring to life. "I suppose I'm what some call an elementalist, for the most part. Fire, water, earth, air, and beyond… though I admit to having a special affinity for ice." Smoothly, the flames shifted and dissipated, giving way to green-tinged shards of ice forming and subsequently flecking off to the ground. "I've dedicated my life to magic and its secrets. Even now, on my quest, this study continues and takes me into at times perilous situations. Are you so sure you want to tag along?"

When Hagar spoke to his companion with telepathy, he saw LeSilve's eyes narrow. The shaman assumed the man didn't like people being in his head, which LeSilve verbally confirmed a few moments later. Hagar began to chuckle as he shifted back to human form. "Sorry my friend, it won't happen again unless the need should arise. You have my word."

Hagar then watched as LeSilve manifested a green flame, as well as a runic circle, atop his fingertips. This power was aesthetically impressive, but Hagar wandered what good it would do in the case that a battle should occur. He assumed he would just have to wait and find out. The green flame shortly changed to shards of ice as LeSilve continued to display his abilities.

LeSilve then mentioned that his studies of magic often times placed him in dangerous situations, before asking Hagar if he was sure that he wanted to tag along. The shaman summoned a ball of earth to the air in front of him, making it twirl in circles before he willed it to take on the shape of a thumbs up. "I still wish to tag along with you, if you're willing to allow me to travel by your side."

'Friend.'

Frey sighed inwardly. The man had been awfully quick to adopt the word. If the big man thought it endearing, he was wrong. Hagar seemed the genuine sort, but in this foreign world where he did not yet understand all the rules, Frey had to tread carefully. Still, the shaman's promise not to do it again caused a slight smile to flit across the mage's face and the furrow in his brow quasi-lifted. "Thank you, that is much appreciated. I'm sure it comes in handy now and then, though - it's a good ability to have."

Credit where credit was due. Always.

Hagar's following display of magic featuring a thumbs up elicited from Frey a genuine clip of laughter. "Glad to hear, aye. But if you do not mind an adventure fraught with the potential of danger, how do you feel about boredom? I fear I am still getting accustomed to the land and have met with a few dead ends so far in my quest - that is to say, much though it pains me to admit it, my direction in this venture is, at present, not so clear. I intend to make my way north, but, from there…"

He shrugged. He was too often in the habit of simply following his feet for his liking, of late.

LeSilve stated that Hagar's ability of telepathy was a useful one to have, which made Hagar smile. "It does indeed come in handy from time to time." Hagar began his statement, "However, not as useful as I'm sure your elemental magic is!" LeSilve had given Hagar's abilities credit, and the shaman intended to return the favor.

LeSilve shifted the focus back to the content of the travels themselves when their talk of abilities and skills was finished.

Hagar never really got bored. Hagar tended to take moments that would otherwise be boring to meditate and practice his abilities. So, as a result, the shaman never really got bored. "Well boredom isn't really a problem for me." Hagar insured LeSilve. "Often times when it seems that their is not much to do I choose to meditate, or to practice my abilities. My mentor always said that boredom is never a problem for he who remains active, so that's what I do! I meditate and travel to other realms where I can learn new abilities, as well as train the skills I already possess. So, to answer your question, I do not fear any boredom that may come from our trip."

Hagar then looked over at LeSilve and smiled a big smile. "So I assume we get started in the morning then?"

"They're both useful for different occasions, I suspect," the mage nodded but shrugged, willing to cede the point despite not fully agreeing with it. His magic had its uses, true, as far as combat or decoration, but so much of it yet remained frustratingly beyond his grasp. Muddied memories shifted. Had he once commanded telepathy? He couldn't be sure. It almost felt another lifetime ago, if he had. Either way, he was confident they would make do.

A satisfied smirk curled across the aerkai's lips. "Good. We are alike in that way, then, and I should say I very much agree with your mentor. There's too much to do and see out there to find oneself bored." Seated cross-legged, Frey's fingers drummed idly over his knees. His posture already presented as much more relaxed than when Hagar had first stumbled across him.

The shaman's wide smile was returned with a grin of the mage's own. "Aye, you have the right of it. We'll leave on the morrow… But sleep does not beckon so soon. If you don't mind further prying, I admit I'm curious. You mentioned travel to other realms - can you tell me what you might know of northern Revaliir? Any landmarks? Places to avoid?"
