Ezili looked at Rex and gave him a big smile, “You are a bit red. Are you feeling ok?” Ezili put her wrist to his head like she had seen Simone do to the other children. “If you aren’t feeling good the butler makes good tea that can help you.”

Turning her attention to Lucas it was her turn to blush as he pulled the comb out, “Oh! I put it in to try on my new outfits for my dance lessons. I must have forgotten about it when I got pulled aside to help Fiori. Thank you~ I really like it and I don’t want to break it. It’s the second thing you’ve ever given me.” The first she didn’t say and the necklace had come after.

Ezili bounded over to Rex during the conversation and smiled a bit, “I’ve met Izzy. She’s pretty happy with them when she isn’t punching or biting Rhenakos. It isn’t just her though you know… Osiria found out that she’s pregnant again too. That’s why they are trying to get their stuff together… At least that’s what Mama told me.”

Immediately the naiad hugged Rex and gave him a smile, “Welcome home! Even if it is a lot right now… Normally, it is pretty quiet. I’ve been here since Lucas got here. He found me in a river in Jayou after I was born there so all this is pretty new to me.” She pulled on Rex and looked over at Lucas. “Where should we put his room?”

Ezili was smaller than both of the boys but it was her playful nature that let her make friends easily enough.

Lucas had been oblivious to Rex’s original intentions as well, and instead welcomed the boy with his own unique and awkward way. He let Ezili explain how she was found before piping in with his own comment about how he basically got rescued from pirates.

As Rex was tugged along to find a room, the boy couldn’t help but boast, “Well if I had been dealing with sky pirates, I would have just beat them up.”

The leviathan groaned, “You do realize they were twice my size, and had weapons right?” Lucas has only met Rhenakos a few times, but he could already see the traits that the demon hunter passed along. Rex was stubborn and a fighter. “Not to mention, nowhere to run. We were in the sky.”

Rex smirked, “Please. I could have taken the whole ship! I can take a few hits and keep rolling!” The boy threw a few punches and grinned. “Knocked ‘em right out.”

Lucas rolled his eyes. “So here are the available rooms on this side.” He showed several doors. It didn’t take Rex long to find one that he liked, one with a tree outside the window for a late night sneak out if he had to bolt. Not that he was expecting it, but he always liked having the option.

“So, it’s settled then,” Lucas said.

“So what do you do around here for fun?” Rex asked. When he was holding down a job, he managed to squander away his little free time watching the working women of Sularia well…work. He was pretty sure he’d have to find new entertainment.

“Well, I mostly read in the library or, when there’s a ship, take a trip into Benin and spend the day there,” Lucas replied.

“Oh, so you’re one of those weird scholarly types.” Rex was a bit disappointed. “And…you like him?” the boy asked Ezili.

The leviathan gave Rex a dead stare. “At least I know better than to try and fight fully armed pirates when the odds are against me…”

“Oh please. Who needs odds when you can headbutt someone.”
