Things went from bad to worse. Lys' combat training proved to be all too effective, which was a disadvantage for dealing with beasts with the capability to regenerate body parts. Rose hydras weren't any different from normal hydras, as in their heads had the same annoying tendency to multiply when severed. They first started out with a three-headed hydra, now it had four. "I'm sorry! I didn't know!" Lys apologized as Belen put his head in his hands. "It's fine, it's just four heads–as long as nobody lops any more off we might still have a chance." Right, at times like these he had to think positive. Even when the situation were steadily growing worse. Like he had said earlier, the key was to attack the body instead of the heads. The body was where all the vital organs were. Once those were gone, it wouldn't be able to sprout new body parts so easily.

"New plan guys, attack the body and keep it stunned! If we're going to take off the heads we need to cauterize it fast!" Turning himself invisible, he sent telepathic messages to everyone. 'Chrys, you and your older brother need to divide the heads' attention. Even with four heads, its body can only move in one direction at any given time. Do whatever works to get its movements tangled up.' Then he messaged Efrain. 'Alright my man, you're in charge of keeping the hydra put. Paralyze it, slow its movements and senses down. Anything goes for this fight so don't hold back.' The last member in their plan was his brother Cyril. He was in charge of keeping the others protected, as well as assisting the others when he could. As for himself, Belen was going to use the element of surprise to whittle the hydra down.

While the hydra was stunned, Cyril would move in to take out a head while he would follow up immediately to seal the wound off. Utilizing telepathy and their natural link as twins, they were going to double-team that sucker and it'd never see it coming. "Everybody, go go go!" He shouted, and signaled Cyril psychically to aim for the closest distracted head. Opening a portal right underneath the hydra head's neck, his brother was able to close the gap in seconds and fiercely swung up with his scythe. Belen then teleported himself to his position and dropped his invisibility to send a torrent of flaming fury onto the bleeding neck. And wouldn't you know it–it worked! The charred flesh was unable to regenerate, and they were back down to three heads again. "Ok, pull back!" He shouted, grabbing onto his brother as he teleported away to a safe distance.

Casting archprotection over everyone, he went into assist the other three with keeping the hydra restrained. Those long necks had an extremely far reach, so he needed something with more leverage. Calling forth a scythe into his hands, he heard his brother's telepathic instructions and saw a portal open nearby. 'Get in, it'll take you right underneath one of the heads. As soon as you get out, slice it off.' His twin told him. "Won't it just grow back?" He asked. 'Don't worry, I'll be right there to burn the wound before that happens. If everything goes according to plan, we'll be down one head with three more to go.' Trusting his brother's plan, Cyril entered. The other end of the portal did open up beneath a hydra head, and when he emerged it took him a few seconds to regain his bearings. But as soon as he saw his target, he acted without hesitation.

A slash, then a chorus of terrible screams from the remaining heads nearly made him deaf. And like he had promised, Belen reappeared not too far away to send a blast of fire directly onto the open wound. He held his breath, then sighed with relief. Bel was right–it really wasn't growing back! Before he could congratulate his twin, he was whisked away to a point in the room several meters from their initial position as the beast thrashed in agony. Everybody else backed off as they covered their ears. Cyril really didn't like seeing creatures in pain, even if it wanted nothing more than to devour them. Was it really alright to do something like this out of self-defense?

"Good work guys, now once its settles down let's do that again! When it's down to one–then we can take it out." Belen spoke aloud. Chrys gave a salute signalling the message was heard, and they took their positions once more. This time Cyril was assisting Chrys in being a distraction, while Lys quickly shifted into bat form to maneuver closer to the hydra's necks. Efrain crippled its movements and senses, then when the paralysis was in full effect Lys shifted back to slice off another head. Belen teleported below to cauterize the second neck, stopping any chance of regeneration. They then retreated to give the hydra space while it went into a frenzy. Belen gave them all a thumbs up before turning invisible, signalling them to prepare for the third repetition. After this, they could go for the body and put an end to the fight.

His part was simple–casting symbols inflicting a variety of ill effects along with paralysis on the hydra, and as many as possible. As the seals manifested on its body, the others followed up to take advantage of the creature's moment of weakness. They had a working system for dealing with its pesky regeneration now, and Cyril went in to deal the third cut felling another hydra head. The smell of smoke and searing flesh was overwhelming in this enclosed space, and Efrain coughed while fanning the air. That was it; they were down to one head. Now they could cut to the chase and bring the rose hydra to its knees. Inflicting a fresh set of curses and paralysis on the hydra once more, his elder siblings and the two brothers hacked and stabbed at it while aiming to find its vitals.

His sister marked the spots with her arrows, while Belen sent a volley of elemental magic its way. At last, somebody dealt the final blow. "Everybody back up! I'm going to make sure it doesn't get up again." Belen shouted, waving at them to move aside. They moved to the far edges of the room and took cover, while the brunet used the power stored in his anima ring for one last spell. With quick, steady movements a glyph appeared in the air moments before the entire chamber was rocked to its core. "Fire in the hole!" Then, an earth-shattering BOOM! Chrys' stone wall blocked anything that went flying from the hydra explosion, and smoldering bits rained down for a while. When the dust settled, the wall retreated back into the ground, and the remains of the beast were vanishing from the area.

Belen raised a hand as something was sucked into his ring, another soul for safekeeping. "Whew, we did it! Good job everybody!" Chrys congratulated everyone. The twins high-fived each other now that it was all over. There was only one choice left for the panels, and with that the final trial was completed. Keystones appeared in the air for everyone to catch, and they were allowed to return to the nexus. With all the keystones needed present, soon they would have to confront the last door. He wouldn't be there to see it himself, but he had no regrets. He had enough excitement and uncertainty for a while.
