Drae smiled and complied and gently ran his hands and fingers over and through Angela's hair as he thought on the tale he was going to tell her.
"Long ago, in a much more peaceful, simpler time there was a great kingdom called Tir na nOg. It was a strange and magical place, more so than the floating city of Tarishtar, with far greater magics than even Wyllmochvar of today; for this kingdom was ruled by some of the most magical creatures of all: the Borealis Dragons. If you had to compare dragons to the humanoids of the world, then the Borealis dragons would be the moon elves of dragon kind. Beautiful, fair, compassionate, drawing their power from the phases of the twin moons far above us, their magicks divine and oracular in nature. It is whispered that because they could foresee the future, they knew when ill times were to be upon their kingdom, be it in war, or famine, but would always come out the better for it. For years, the King and Queen ruled eternally, for Tir na nOg was known to be a kingdom of perpetual youth, but they were unhappy for as hard as they tried they never had any heirs. The Queen would weep to the moon, begging for the chance to raise just one child, and for that gift she would give up her very immortality. For centuries the Queen's prayer went unanswered, until one night, the moons came down to her in her garden.
"For so long you have prayed to us," said Canelux. "And for centuries we have heard," Parvpora responded. "So tonight we grant your wish, Fair Queen. But in return for this gift, forfeit is your gift to divine the future," the moons chimed in chorus, for always is the ways of these tales. The Queen looked to where her husband the King ruled over the kingdom. If she were to accept the gift, gone would be the very thing that kept the Kingdom so well protected, but she would have their heart's desire. If there were a chance to raise a babe of there own, then perhaps if they were to fall, there would at least be hope for the future.
"I'll accept. So long have we longed for a child of our own, to leave a legacy when we fade away," she replied to the moons. They nodded only once and vanished in a flash of the northern lights. When the Queen looked to where they had stood, the she-dragon discovered seven perfectly round eggs, each of varying hue, but with the radiance of pearls. This was the gift of the moons in exchange for her Sight…" Drae said softly.
