Malwyn was excited! The nectar of the gods provided by…the gods! He had never traveled so far from home before but how could he pass up an opportunity to sample the arts of other nation’s brewers and fermenters. He had even brought his own sampling spoon which was a sort of ladle but on a horizontal, instead of vertical, handle.

His green eyes darted around the table while his wings made him do the same. His dark brown hair was combed; parted to the side. It seemed unused to this treatment as stray hairs frayed off in every direction. He flew himself to each drink and excitedly filled his sampler with a small offering of each tincture; his face revealing, all too obviously, what he felt about each one.

Malwyn took a moment to look around the great hall he found himself in. He loved seeing all the peoples of different races coming together to eat, drink and be merry; to dance and to dine and to enjoy themselves. And he loved having such a crowd to share his gifts with.

Amongst the shimmering and shining textures of this celestial palace the fairy seemed to stand out, though, his wings seemed to match the décor quite nicely. He had wings not unlike those of a butterfly but whereas most butterflies wings shown off beautiful hues of static color his pattern seemed to shift and reflect a varying array of opalescence. As he moved and as the lights shifted around him his wings danced and shone with a chromatic eloquence.

No, it was not his wings that made him stand out but is absolute misunderstanding of anthropological style. The fairy wore a loose fitting long sleeved white shirt but the sleeves appeared to be of different lengths. The stitching was extremely pronounced and if one were to look close enough one would not be blamed for thinking this shirt was home made from a cloth napkin. His forest green vest that he wore over the shirt was the correct fit but was unmistakably covered in dirt. The same could also be said of his pants, though, less obviously due to the pants being a light brown blending the dirt in with them. The length of his pant legs made them look like shorts for a toddler yet to grow into them and their ends were frayed. On top of all this he had forgotten to wear shoes or he simply didn’t realize shoes were something that people wore. The combination of the coloring scheme, styled hair, and tailored vest made it apparent the fairy was attempting to dress up but also gave the impression that he had only ever heard of high society clothing via rough description.

If Malwyn was aware of how bizarre he looked in his setting he wasn’t letting it affect his mood. He continued sampling all the various beverages until he found one that would suite his purpose. He had brought a small bottle of his homemade intoxicant. Since he was unable to carry a large enough quantity for the other guests he whipped up a super concentrated batch. He merely needed to find the right base with which to complement its flavor once diluted. His joy hit its peak once he had found such a concoction.

With a smile growing ever larger across his face he uncorked his bottle and exclaimed, as loudly as a fairy of his size could, that now the party could truly begin. He was already feeling quite warm after his sampling tour but that didn’t stop him from immediately dashing over to find a fairy sized cup with which to fill his newly created mixture. At this point his cheeks were beginning to flush but once he tasted what he had created he couldn’t help but to smile and twirl around; overjoyed at the success of his efforts. It’s not often a fairy such as him gets a chance to share his works with so many others and he looked forward to seeing the reactions of the guests as they sampled his concoction.
