An elf with a golden and black suit stood towards the edge of the room with a wine glass in her right hand. Her black curly ebony hair was put in a low bun with emerald pins holding everything together . The wine was good but something was off about it. A slight buzzed feeling was going around in her head. It was unfamiliar a feeling. She’d only been drinking from this small wine glass. And it was her first.

Yet, the elf was somehow already having the effects that most alcohol presented. Jadira walked over to one of the tables at the banquet hall to put down her glass. Somebody had spiked the drinks. Gazing upon ballroom, searching for something to end the boredom that had crept into her mind. Her expression was a mixture of boredom and irritation. Suddenly, a stranger approached her. A man about her height with light brown hair. “May I have this dance?” He asked politely.

“….Yes.” The ever eloquent Jadira responded.

He led her to the dance floor and they began to waltz to the music. Although she managed to take the right steps, her posture was stiff and unbending. Any conversation that passed between them was simple and to the point. Mostly because of Jadira’s plain responses. Despite all of her lessons and instructions as a child, she had the charm of a slug. The young man acted politely but the disappointed look in his crystal blue eyes was clear. She had not been the dancing partner he had hoped for. When the music ended, Jadira gave a bow to her partner and headed back to the edge of the room.

If only she had kept her traveling bag with her instead of giving it to one of the servants at the door. Jadira would have been able to play with the puzzlebox while the rest danced. An idea formed in her mind. She might as well explore the hall. This would be one of the few chances to be here. The hall itself was large and grand but had doors to the side that went into other rooms. Servants came in and out of those doors. Bringing food into the halls and taking dirty dishes out. There must have been a kitchen here or some sort of storage room to keep the dirty plates.

And where did they take those coats, cloaks, and bags that the guests brought in? Her curiosity got the better of her. Lifting her left hand to her chest, bits of light erupted from her palm and began to swirl around her body. Beginning from her chest, her body began to fade away. As if she was merely a mirage in the desert. Soon, every part of her was visually gone. The elf’s scent would be present as would any nose she made. To the eye she was invisible. Walking to the door on the far left of the room, Jadira waited until one of the servants left, slipping in before the door shut behind her. Nobody would miss the elf. And she was curious to know the inner workings of this place.

"I love sarcasm. It's like punching people in the face but with words."
