Race: Kitsune
Gender: Female
Class: Bard & Thundermage

Upon finding themselves in a new, weird world, governed by strange gods and even stranger rules, many would have needed a day or two to simply gather their thoughts and find their feet once more. Add to that discovering your entire village had lied to you about the death of your sibling, and that said sibling was not only alive and well, but hell-bent on your destruction, well. Maybe you'd need a week or two to absorb all of that. Really get it all sorted out, put into order, and nicely organised and ready to work through. That would be what a normal person would do, no doubt. Take their time and plan their next move. Maybe they would try and find a way home, or talk to their sibling and try to explain their side of the story. Seek out some kind of reconciliation, and fix what they hadn't realised was broken. Together they surely stood a better chance of finding their way home, and once there, they could set right the cruelties of the past.

Of course, this was not at all how Akori operated.

As soon as she had slipped free of her sister's baleful pursuit, Akori had set forth across the land, following her whims. She drifted here, there, wherever she dared - which left pretty much nowhere off limits. The kitsune had roamed forests, pilfered the lairs of massive beasts, and stalked the halls of grand temples. Magic and wonder was prevalent in this land, and she learned much of its people - that they were people, and that meant they were much like those she had left behind on her own world. No matter the form or their abilities, most folk remained the same, and so Akori had soon grown bored. Even crossing an ocean didn't alleviate her restlessness all that much, and a bored Akori was a dangerous Akori. She had arrived in this city, marvelled at the buildings and clutter of civilization for all of a few hours, and trotted off in search of amusement.

Now, it was to be understood that the kitsune had been taught to be dutiful and polite as a kit, and had taken most of those lessons to heart. Akori wasn't in the habit of harming others for her own amusement, or attempting to cause property damage or the like - she liked to play, yes, but she wasn't malicious. However, as was evident, Akori was also easily bored and just as easily captivated by new and interesting things. If said new thing happened to be an especially expensive and shiny box, well, boxes were supposed to be opened. Following that, if someone didn't want that box to be picked up and opened, they shouldn't have placed it in plain sight, illuminated by a ray of sunlight that glittered from the gold and mother-of-pearl inlay. They should also have invested in a better lock on their window. As it was, it had been the work of a few moments to slip in through the window, snatch the pretty-shiny box, and slip out again. However, she had not gone unnoticed, and soon Akori had to run for her prize - and probably her hide.

Cackling, Akori seemed to flow across the cluttered streets, her laughter trailing in the air behind her. The echoes of her mirth only seemed to infuriate her pursuers, urging them into even more of a vengeful fury. Even running on two legs, Akori moved like she was floating, skipping over the odd obstacle, weaving around the people milling about. The box clutched to her chest rattled, and she so wanted to open it and see what was inside. Was it gold, warm and gleaming? Gems, maybe, cold, hard, and crystalline? Jewellery perhaps, intricate and precious. It could just as easily be a favoured pen, well used and trusty, or a really nice pebble. Maybe a paperweight? It might be that whatever was in the box was worthless, and they were chasing her simply because she had snatched the thing. Or they really liked the box. Oh! Maybe it was one of the men's false teeth, and that was why they were so desperate the get it back. Akori grinned, and laughed, throwing her head back as she leaped over a cart, hitting the ground running on the other side.

Turning her head to watch for her pursuers, Akori completely missed the person in front of her, slamming into them with enough force to knock them both clean over. Her arms flailed, the box was sent flying, and Akori fell flat on her face with an oof! The air knocked from her lungs, the kitsune lay stunned for long moments, before slowly pushing herself up, groaning. What the-oh! Oh no, she'd hit someone not a something! Akori had the grace to look thoroughly abashed, scrambling to grab the box and shove it down her bodice, before offering a hand to the woman she'd knocked over.
"Sorry about that, got a bit carried away there. Are you alright?" Akori asked, trying to smile in an innocent manner, even though she was disheveled, dirty, and obviously hiding a stolen box in her shirt. She ached to look over her shoulder - yelling was getting closer, and she just knew the source of it was coming for her - but for one, that wouldn't be polite, and secondly, would be pretty suspicious.

Cassandra

Class: Hunter

Things were going much better now for her, she had settled into life around the Second Circle well, and had started to help in the brothel area escorting clients to rooms and keeping track of the workers. A few of the workers had, teasingly, prodded the attractive red headed woman into working with them, or, barring that, at least having some fun among employees. Each time they had giggled at Cassandra’s blushed cheeks and stammered replied before she would have to walk out of there. Despite all the changes Cassandra was still a farm girl at heart and being in the city, and more so this city, was another huge change for her. Truth be told, even with the new lycanthropy to deal with, living in the city, away from her family, was probably the hardest part of this whole ordeal.

If it wasn’t for Serafina taking her in and training her Cassandra had no idea what would have happened to her the night she had been attacked and bitten. It was probable that she would have died that night, but what if she had survived? Survived and went back to her family’s farm and then one night on a full moon the change would have happened. She would have become a wolf in her own room, alone, probably gone feral and what then? Kill all of her family? Maybe one of her siblings before her father managed to shoot her with an arrow not knowing the wolf was his own daughter?

All these thoughts were on Cass’ mind as she walked the streets, thinking on such things was become less as the days went on however. She had control, she had stability, more or less, at the Second Circle, and her family knew what had happened to her. She hadn’t seen them but had sent messages with proof that they were from her, explaining what was going on. She had heard back a couple of times, her mother’s neat handwriting telling her how the family was doing.

Cassandra, lost in thought, didn’t see the other figure coming towards her until they collided. Cassandra was hit with enough force to send her stumbling off to one side, she went down, rolled and came up in a crouch with her hands behind her. Her hands were on the hilts of her daggers, living in this city for what little time she had now had already made her aware of the dangers it produced. Seeing that the woman who had bumped into her wasn’t about to attack her, Cassandra eased her stance and stood upright again as the woman asked if she was ok.

The red head shrugged. ”I’m fine.” Cass’ ears picked up the yelling that was getting closer and eyed the woman, noticing the bulge in her bodice. Grinning Cassandra crossed her arms and shifted her weight to one hip. ”Successful day so far?” Cassandra didn’t want to linger with this woman for too long since she didn’t want to get caught up in whatever was going on. Another hard lesson from this city; it was best to mind your own damn business.
