In the beginning of this day, this seemed like a great plan. Her breath came in quick bursts as she ran through the forest, her hands clutching the straps of her backpack. “Not such a good idea. Why didn’t I just stay home!?” She cursed in her mind. The wolf girl glanced over her shoulder to see how close the wild dogs were; they were right on her tail. Screaming, she looked forward again and tried to run even faster.

Yesterday
“Papa…” Priscilla’s voice was quiet as poked her head through the door of the wing of her fathers. He took of residence in the tower towards the back up the castle. He had his own living area, kitchen, bathing quarters, and two bed rooms. He had offered his child to stay in the free room, but Priscilla politely declined. If only he knew at first she didn’t see him as a father. Now, though, she did.

The young wolf girl grew to love the family around her. It took almost a year, but she knew now, she couldn’t live without them.

“Yes, Priscilla?” Will descended the stairs near the entryway to his living quarters. He smiled wide seeing his daughter. His own blue eyes staring back at him.

“Hey, Pops… I was wondering. If you would let me… go to the market?” It took her a moment but she finally asked. She hoped he would say yes but the face he gave her stay otherwise.

The once smile on Wilhelm’s lips disappeared. “No.” His voice was stern as he stepped down off the stairs and around the young wolf. He made his way into the living area; Priscilla following. “But Papa. You can’t keep me cooped up in this castle forever!” She whined.

“It is for your own protection, Priscilla.” He turned to look at her then.

“Protection! It has been three months! We haven’t once seen The Stygian. They are gone.” Her words made the elder wolf eyes turn dark. “You will never mention their name again. Now, go to your room.” Wilhelm scolded then turned around and walked back up the stairs.

Priscilla stood wide eyed and still. Wilhelm had never scolded her before. It was the slamming of the door that made her jump and run out the door.

The idea didn’t come to her until late that night after her tears had dried. Sitting up in bed, she made her decision. She was going, and that was that.

Present

“Such a bad idea!” She cursed aloud to herself before jumping over a tree stump. She could hear the dogs right behind her; snapping trying to bite her bag. Further behind the pack of dogs, men ran behind them; three. Priscilla had no idea who they were or what they wanted. She only felt fear everytime she glanced back to see them and hear a laugh every so often.

The trees began to become more sparse, and with another glance forward, she saw the had gained some distance from the animals. The young wolf almost let out a sigh of relief but when her eyes turned toward, she saw it; a cliff.

Trying to stop, caused the girl to trip over her feet. Her feet came out from under her and she slid over the ground to the edge of the cliff. Her body stopped just at the edge, the tips of her feet barely hanging off.

The young wolf got to her feet; breathing heavily. The three wild dogs came up to her, they didn’t touch her but growled. Priscilla's eyes looked up to the men who came up behind them. A smirk on the man in the center.

“What a cute little thing you are.” He said as he gripped his sword on his hip. “What do you think boys? Should we take her before we sell her?” The Leader asked as he looked from one man to the other. The two men nodded with a laugh in agreement.

The wolf demon stepped back once more to try to get further away. In her attempt, her foot slipped from the edge, taking her down. A scream escaped as she fell.
