For the last two weeks the barkeep from this tavern had been spreading the word that this night he had a new special brew that would be ready for its new sampling! Months of hard work for the keep had paid off now and would help his business, even in this scum filled city, became more known and flourish. At least that’s what the keep was hoping for anyway, a new delicious brew that was also nice and strong to boot, a key point for the pirates and other unseemly types that populated this city. Yet for all the violence that happened and the bar fights, in general, taverns and inns were somewhat neutral grounds, though that didn’t always happen.

At this evening the tavern was packed indeed! The keep had brought in extra chairs and now it was standing room only, word had spread well about the new ale and a lot of people were keen to try it. Not to mention on this night, and this announcement had only been made that morning, the new ale was free! That had really spiked the interest and had resulted in this overflow of patrons enough that the doors were now closed to anyone else coming in, it was that packed.

The keep behind his bar smiled as he looked over to the patrons as they sipped their normal drinks, the new ale would be passed out soon. ”Ladies, gentlemen, thank you all for coming this night! I trust the food has been good and the drinks plenty. Soon, soon you will all get to taste my newest ale, strong and dark, just the way it should be. The barmaids will be around to collect plates, and after that we shall drink until the morning!” There was a collective cheer from many of the patrons and they went back to their conversations, their drinks, their food or their cards.

Meanwhile the keep smiled and moved back into the back room as his barmaids went out to collect the dishes from that night’s supper. The ones that were cooking he sent out as well as they left the keep smiled as he looked to the barrels of ale. His eyes for a brief moment flickered from a brown to a poison green before he started to pour mugs of ale, enough for everyone, including the maids.
