While travel wasn't difficult for the vampire, she had been given a rare gift from her goddess; the ability to walk in broad daylight. It irritated her eyes, yet that was to be expected. Lirin had finally made it to her destination, relatively uncomfortable in her travel clothing. She missed her fancy gowns, relaxing evenings in taverns, playing her music, and alluring her prey. However, she just as soon as she had found her sister, Celeste had disappeared.

Clues had lead Lirin to this land, and she was off to a terrible start. Somehow, a tempest had pushed her overboard and deposited her unceremoniously on a beach. After cleaning up in the first town she had come across, Lirin had done some research upon the land and purchased a map. With some assistance, Lirin mapped her first stop. She figured that there was only one reason for Celeste to not have met her when they were supposed to.

Celeste must have been kidnapped. If she was forced to come to this land for this, then perhaps she was forced into slavery. Fat chance. She wouldn't let anyone keep her cooped up easily. The echoes of her wailing still rang in Lirin's ears from over sixteen years ago when she was banished from their clan. Her sister had been locked up. Therefore, if anyone had seen someone of her description, Lirin might find it here at a port where shady things happen on a daily.

Virtually unarmed, and ill prepared for major confrontations, Lirin walked out of the alley on the edge of town. Leaving an unconscious random stranger slumped in the shadows, Lirin wiped a stray drop of blood off her face and started walking confidently down the first street. Maybe she'll head to a tavern, employ her talents as a minstriel, and listen for any information about elves, slave trafficers and the like.

    Becky had been roaming freely around the town for hours. She had to have found a good place to wait for her crew to get back by now. "Surely, there must be a good place around here SOMEWHERE!?!?!" She thought to herself as she roamed. She had been traveling from town to town for hours on end. 

   Now she had not only been to half the towns up and down the coast, she had been to them on foot. Her feet were sore from all the walking and her mind was set on visiting her crew again… Not her crew but her Captain, the only crew member she trusted as of so far. 

     After a few more minutes around town, she had went to the docks to wait. Not only did she hate walking, but she hated land over all, the harsh terrain and the sun overhead made it hard for her to travel. She idly kicked her feet around in the shallows and played with the tide as she watched the sun. Her job was to get to her crew, not blend with the crowd. So she decided that she'd be herself, if people single her out for her strange behavior then she couldn't care less.

She had to be careful, this she knew. Information she gave could put her in a difficult position, anyone could use it against her. Some could even use it as a ruse, to manipulate Lirin. Force her to go where they want her, which could never be a good thing. Lirin opened her ears, straining to find the tiniest of detail of her missing sister. At the same time, she pretended to browse any offered wares.

While Lirin tried to sort everything out, she figured that would be best to start down at the docs. Hopefully someone there was there when Celeste first stepped foot off the boat. Slowly, she traveled the streets, making her way to the coast. Sapphire eyes took in everything, reading each and every small gesture or exchange. Life here was no different than elsewhere. Sixteen years later, it still amazes Lirin how many races coexist. Her birthplace was very, very strict about outsiders in their forest.

The thought of them left a sour taste in her mouth as she squinted against the blinding glare of the ocean. While she would prefer to hunt for her sister later in the day, it would be difficult to find anyone with knowledge. At the docs, there was a curious young woman splashing around in the shallows. "Hello." Lirin broke the silence as she approached her.

    Becky stopped splashing and looked up, still looking out at the ocean. She didn't recognize the voice as any of the crew and with how the area around her had treated her, how the entire island treated her, she didn't want to be bothered. She may have been left by her Captain, Kat, for safety from whatever danger lay ahead on the current raid, but she found this place more hellish than the boat would have been.

    Becky sighed and slid into the water, vanishing under the surface. She didn't reappear until she was a few meters further away, where she safely floated in the water. The fish swam around her as she drifted around, her manner seemed a little odd to most, but at least she was safe. She finally responded as her eye met that of the stranger's eyes. 
"May I help you?"

Lirin blinked in surprise when the girl went into the water. It couldn't have been anything she said. She was friendly, and only said hello. In fact, this looked to be about the nicest person to start anywhere for information in this town. With the girl surfacing further into the water, Lirin had to avert her eyes.

The sun dancing upon the waves, sending glittering shards of light across its surface was too much to look at too bright. No, she preferred the moonlight reflecting off the gentle waters of the ocean. Even if she tried to shield her eyes, Lirin still couldn't see the young woman very well at all.

"I was wondering if you could help me with something. I'm looking for any information about an elf that might have came through here oh… a year or so ago?"

  Becky blinked and looked up at her, she was in shock that someone didn't just yell at her for once. She then looked around to make sure no one else was around before she climbed out of the water. She knew she would have to be cautious around land walkers, even if they seemed friendly. She walked slowly up to the girl and looked at her for a few seconds before speaking.

  "Not everyone would be so casual to speak to my kind… What is it that separates you from the others… Courage.. Wisdom.. Stupidity.. Or desperation? I am Becky.. Water you up to?"
   She didn't have any reason to speak to the girl, she already was able to see the concern and desperation in the girls eyes. Even though she could see that the girl needed help, she was uncertain what for. She dare accuse the girl of the wrong idea, but she didn't want to just turn her away either. She needed something to do while waiting for her captain to return, why not go on an adventure?

Lirin stood for what felt like a long time. She imagined that the girl could turn her away with some sneer. What exactly could be going through her mind to make her cautious of little, out of place Lirin? All the vampire wanted to do was find her sister, and get her home safe and sound.

It seemed that the girl was hesitant. When she was finally emerged from the water, Lirin smiled as sweetly as she could. "Actually, I'm not from these lands, so I'd choose friendly foreigner. My name is Lirin." Before answering the next question, however, she gave Becky a meaningful stare, trying to gauge how useful this girl could be.

"I'm looking for information, actually. About an elf who looks a lot like me. Would have come through her a year or so ago. Goes by Celeste? Any of this ring a bell? Or would you know of someone I could talk to about possible slave sellers?" And there it was, her fear of her sister being captured by the slave market. With their looks, there was no wonder that Celeste could have gotten mixed up with the wrong crowd. Yet, she had a hard time that someone of Celeste's skill got captured at all. Surely, her sister didn't come here of her own accord?
