The moment she mentioned the chocolate from before, he groaned loudly. That was a fun experience- keeping her from bouncing off the walls when she overdid eating those treats. "Yes, and plenty more. Remember though, not to eat them all at once", he sighed, rubbing at the corners of his eyes. Aside from worrying about that, he was sure that they wouldn't run into too much trouble. Still, he would look out for her just in case someone or something tried to take advantage of her naiveness.
He had been wise to take hold of her and at least she was aware of it and the meaning. "Right."
"Indeed. There's something about this place, can't say for certain, but something's not right. Just…be careful, Raine." He knew that she wasn't stupid, just heavily sheltered. It hadn't been her fault and he still pondered if Angela had intervened a bit too late when it came to her and her brother. Still, he couldn't question what already had been done. He led her around while her curiosity was peaked. He stopped a moment and looked towards her as she stated why she wasn't frightened. He was about to say something when his own eyes followed her finger towards the clock. "Yes, you have a stronger affiliation to magic than I do. Perhaps Nemesis was correct to be concerned about this place", he spoke, his hand growing a tad tighter around hers. He tilted his head in thought, stronger by the minute, but how and why…? She seems to know just about as much of that as he did, still, it had been a good idea to take her along.
But then she saw the games and he mentally slapped his hand against his face. They ventured over to one of the booths where there were bottles stacked up in a pyramid and above the curator was an assortment of stuffed animals.
"Hey there, folks. Care to test your luck and win these lovely prizes?", the curator asked with a wide smile. It was throwing Maalik off for some reason.
"I suppose so. I take it that I throw a ball and try to knock it over?" He had heard about these games before; he also knew that many of these were rigged to high heavens.
"Of course. You get three chances, sir. Try your luck and win something for your little sweetheart", he gestured at Raine.
"She's not my…oh nevermind, just gimme the balls."
Once the balls were handed to him, Maalik mentally weighted each one, trying to find whether or not something was off about them. Nope, even weight distribution. then he looked towards the bottles; it was possible that they were glued together to keep from being knocked off. Well, he had an idea for that then; he poised himself and readied to throw the first ball. He followed through and tossed it at the bottle that sat at the bottom right, and sure enough, the whole thing didn't move. And then he did it again with the second, only this time he aimed for the center of the pyramid. Once more, it didn't move. He readied the third one, already convinced that it wouldn't fare any better when he started to channel some magic into the hand that held his ball. Once he threw it, a small but strong gust of wind trailed behind it, amplifying the strength of it and when it hit the pyramid, the whole thing shattered. The curator looked on in disbelief while Maalik looked high above at the prizes. "Go on ahead and take whichever one, Raine. The nice man did say you could have one."
