Cha'Kwe'Tza strode out of the surf and crashing waves of the ocean, tail idly swaying back and forth. Blinking the salt water away with his secondary eyelids, his gaze narrowed as he spotted a cluster of reed roofed shacks approximately fifty spear lengths up the beach. Changing his course to investigate, Cha'Kwe'Tza moved closer, leaving large prints on the beach as his clawed feet settled into the sand. Tongue flicking out to remove a fly from his nose, Cha'Kwe'Tza hefted his spear in both hands, keeping the stone point in the direction of the huts. Finally he was beside the first of the buildings, and the only sounds were those of the crashing waves and sea birds cawing and fighting over a scrap of fish. One of the birds took to the air and passed near to Cha'Kwe'Tza, and he snapped at it with his jaws and a bestial growl, but the bird flapped away with as much speed as its wings could muster, making a racket that belied the small size of the creature as it did so.

Leading with his spear, Cha'Kwe'Tza nosed into the first hut. All that was inside were the cold coals of a small fire in the centre, and a few bits of leather and cloth. Leaving that building, he searched the others in turn, finding nothing that he saw a use for. He did wonder why the people of this land would leave their coloured cloth on the floor of their dwellings. Perhaps this is a custom of the tribes here…Thought Cha'Kwe'Tza. Something easily recognizable as a source of food would've been welcome, and worth a future sacrifice to the Gods. Leaving the rickety shacks behind, Cha'Kwe'Tza carried on his way inland. He had been sent to search for artifacts that the High Priests thought to reside here. Cresting a small dune, the large reptilian figure looked out onto something that he found very familiar. Before him lay a large swampland. He would come to know the name Moritius sometime in the future, but for the time being, he logged it in his mind as Far Ig'Nak in homage to a large dwelling site in his own lands.

Crossing through reeds that reached to the middle of his thigh, Cha'Kwe'Tza could feel the mud and murky water ooze against his scales, and swirl between the three curved claws of his feet. Grasping his spear near the head with a large hand that had been made hard through centuries of combat, Cha'Kwe'Tza used the butt to probe ahead of himself. In his right hand, he held an axe with a head that was made of a stone native to his homeland. So, spear ahead of him and axe to his side, he slowly waded through a large pool a few spear lengths across. Rising from the water, Cha'Kwe'Tza felt a pinch near the end of his tail. Looking to his side and bringing the appendage around, he saw a small fish looking creature hanging on by its teeth. Growling, Cha'Kwe'Tza flicked his tail angrily and sent the helpless critter flying back into the pool.

Close to an hour had gone by at this point, and Cha'Kwe'Tza was still poking his way through the swamp, attempting to be careful. There was a pool that he had thought to be shallow, but he mis-stepped and found himself completely submerged in a foul smelling water. Visibility was non-existent, even with his reptilian eyes. After a moment of floundering, he freed himself from the cloying muck at the bottom and burst through the surface in a violent spray of water, letting loose a roar that could be heard for quite a distance. Looking around now that he had a solid footing, Cha'Kwe'Tza noticed a large Crocodile laying amongst the reeds a spear length away, jaws open and ready to attack. Returning his axe to its loop, Cha'Kwe'Tza levelled his spear, and stalked towards the croc. With an expert thrust honed by centuries of war and hunting, Cha'Kwe'Tza drove his spear through the roof of it's mouth and into it's brain.

Getting out of the water, Cha'Kwe'Tza pulled his spear from the body and set it aside on the ground. Pulling his axe out again, he then set about dressing his kill. In a short amount of time, he had a small cook fire going, and had sharpened a couple of nearby sticks and was roasting the meat. As the food sizzled away, Cha'Kwe'Tza grabbed a handful of tall grass and wiped some of the much and slime from his legs. A few leeches that had gorged themselves on his lifes blood were found, but they were removed and tossed aside without much effort or thought. Turning at last to his meal, Cha'Kwe'Tza slid a chunk of meat from it's stick and bit into it, chewing as grease and juices ran down the side of his mouth. Pulling the second chunk off and spearing two more raw hunks, Cha'Kwe'Tza sat back on his heels easily, tail curled slightly to provide balance and set to eating more of the crocodile.
