Oh look Winter! We have company!”, Sonja spoke softly towards the strange woman beside her, pointing out a small mob of men coming towards them at the edge of the woods that settled near a town. The rumors of a witch showing up to their abode merely days ago were also linked to some disappearances of some of their neighbors around the same time. While she had no qualm about taking a few unwilling test subjects for her work, this time the sorceress was innocent of such crimes. But of course, their blind prejudice and fear would lead them to assume that she had something to do with the missing individuals. As far as she knew, they had already painted her hands red with their blood.

She stood, merely observing and waiting for them come down, baring weapons in hands and anger in their eyes. Winter stood there almost docilely, awaiting for a command that wouldn’t come just yet. If only those fools knew what either of them were capable of; if they had, then they would ran back into their homes and likely hid beneath the bed sheets. Oh, how such thoughts couldn’t help to stir a smile across her face. Emerald eyes lingered onto the mob as they ceased their movement merely a couple of feet away from the duo. “Witch! Tell us what you have done to our kin? Four…four are missing and it had been done by your hands!”, proclaimed one of the men up front, likely the ringleader of this murderous jury. Sonja didn’t respond with anything more than a mere huff. Some of the men took that as some sort of threat and hesitantly stepped back. The leader, however, wasn’t easily frightened. “Harlot of darkness, you are to return them back here and leave forever. Else, you will perish where you stand now!”

The threat made her drop that smile briefly, exchanging it for a look of annoyance and looked to his swordhand. “Putrescat.” Within moments after speaking, the man felt the skin of his hand feeling…wrong. He felt a cold, unnatural sensation beneath the flesh and the more time passed the more the decay was becoming more evident from the inside out. He started to scream as the skin rotted away and peeled from his hand, layers of it dropping onto the ground below. The sword fell along with it as a couple of men from the crowd gather and tried to tend to it with wraps. “Ignorance grows nothing more but more ignorance”, she spoke with a shrug. “You fear what you don’t understand, and yes, it is only in our nature to be like that. But still, you should strive to expand yourselves more. It’s no wonder that most think of you all as unruly and barbatic.” Sighing, she glance towards the leader again and spoke something else beneath her breath. A burning sensation replaced the colder one in his hand and before long, they unwarped the hand to see that the rotting had ceased and it was starting to recover.

“I know nothing of your missing people, but it would have been smarter to have asked me about them first, instead of taking up arms. Just be grateful that I didn’t have my “child handle you all.” She gestured over to Winter before turning on her heels and walked further into the woods. She didn’t fear what they would do; likely they wouldn’t retaliate if they knew what was good for them. Sonja would have assumed that the missing had been abducted by the neighboring orc tribes for collateral or sacrifices. Turning slightly towards them, she gave a cold look to them. “I will bring proof of my innocence. And once I do, I expect for my whims to be sated until my departure here.” With that, she and her creation took their leave to seek out what really happened to the people here.
