”I'm happy you did as well.” Hacesh replied to Varsha before his attention was turned backed to Basse as she spoke, introducing herself. He nodded to her.
”Thank you, Basselina. In fact, you can tell them I am willing to help protect the highlands as well, well, I do anyway, but maybe remind them for me please? I like to keep the raider and orc clans out as best I can, but the settled villages I won't bother unless they force the issue first.” He explained.
He listened to more of the sisters' interactions and chuckled as Basse slapped Varsha on the back hard enough to knock the wind from her lungs. Varsha confirmed to Basse that Hacesh could get much larger than he was at the moment, before speaking to him about happy that she had come out here with Basse, saying she was happy to see him as well. The dragon was about to reply when Basse cut in, telling them to get a room, and Hacesh grinned to himself, so he was being that obvious? Well, it was hard to help it, Varsha and him got along well and she was very beautiful. He'd admit that Basse was very good looking herself, her body was strong and well muscled, but, Varsha was his current interest and he got the feeling that Basse wouldn't be to be interested in him in that way.
But the fact that Varsha said there was 'nothing happening' was a little disheartening to Hacesh, but she could just be saying to save face? Maybe, he wouldn't give up until she told him directly to do so. When next Varsha spoke to him he chuckled.
”She cares about you, that much is clear, it's just the way she goes about showing it.” She spoke of the desert events and he nodded.
”Well enough. I had to fight a skeletal dragon my own size, damn thing raked my chest with its claws, but those helping me distracted it enough and blow up some of its bones that I was able to crush its skull.” He replied.
”After that I helped heal the wounded for a bit until my own wound was feeling better before going back out in the fight, but I went in this form and found a battle axe to take with.” He chuckled.
”Not that I am trained with an axe, but it's funny how sheer strength can make up for lack of training sometimes.” He grinned.
”How did everything go for you, Varsha? That was some fighting indeed.” After a moment he glanced to Basse and then looked back to Varsha.
”I hope you're walking your own path still?”

Varsha laughed a bit at his answer. “The simplest answer tends to be the correct one… At least in my opinion. I’m glad we found you first.” She offered a smile but Basselina was busy studying the poor dragon.
Basselina beat her chest a bit, “I’m Basselina a warrior from the highlands but yes Varsha is my older sister. Live among the wee folk to protect them from outsiders… Folk here don’t know much of anything at times.”
Varsha shook her head. “No Hacesh, I think that it should be fine as long as they know you won’t attack first. Basselina is very convincing… She will talk them out of bothering you… Won’t you Basse?”
Basselina threw a look at her sister before shrugging. “Suppose if Varsha has asked nicely and there’s nothing we can do about it… I’m not about to kick a dragon out of his home because the wee folk are scared. If Varsha isn’t scared that’s all the proof I need.”
“I don’t scare easily Basse,” Varsha sighed a bit and Basse cackled while she slapped Varsha hard on her back. Varsha lost all the air out of her lungs as she coughed a bit from being hit so hard. “I’ve seen it Basse… He can get much larger than this.” Basselina tilted her head and nodded a bit. “I’m glad to see you as well Hacesh. Things are well but I almost panicked riding down here to see Basse when I heard the news. There isn’t much that Basselina doesn’t think she can handle by herself.”
There was a ghost of a smile on her face before Basselina looked between them. “You both should get a room… For gods sake it is the middle of the damn day and you are shooting each other with eyes of infatuated youth.”
Varsha gasped a bit and flailed at her sister, “Will you be quiet? Why don’t you find something to do before you embarrass yourself and me while you are at it. Also, there’s nothing happening…”
“Sure… Sure and Ma said she would never get married and look how that turned out.” Basselina began to mock Varsha as she found a place to sit.
Varsha’s dark skin turned a bit darker thanks to a blush as she looked back at Hacesh. “She is terrible, you know that?” It wasn’t like Varsha to be so… shy? Embarrassed? However, she thought a lot of Hacesh thanks to the things he had done for her. She didn’t want him thinking she was out to get something just because of her loud mouth sister. “I take it that the problem in the Harena went well enough for you after we split up?”

The desert had gone back to normal, the heroes had won, if a victory it could be called with all the dead, while the enemy was all undead. Such a waste of life. Time moved on the old dragon had continued with his life as he always had. He had found some treasure in the desert however, as with many dragons Hacesh had the hording instinct and had taken the treasure to his hidden horde cave in the Highlands. He had found this cave a long time ago when he was much younger and first starting to come into that need to horde. Over the last couple of centuries Hacesh had used his strength and power to expand the cave deeper into the Highlands so he could put more stuff into it, anything he considered valuable. Once he was finished adding to it and looking around to make sure everything was where je left it, he left. The dragon did have one hell of a good security measure, however, in the form of a huge boulder that he could roll into place in front of the entrance and years of work on the boulder and entrance had allowed him to blend them together to hide the fact the boulder wasn't where it was supposed to be.
Afterwards Hacesh had flew out in his big form to hunt and once full found a place to settle in for a nap in his two legged form, which was how and where the two women now found him. When he was poked with the sword Hacesh snorted in his sleep and started to wake up with a wide yawn. When his eyes opened they settled on Basse first, she was a very strong woman indeed, but the Varsha came around her and saw him.
Hacesh smiled he was still a big groggy from his nap as he slowly got to his feet and stretched out. All the while listening to the two women banter and then Varsha speak to him directly.
”Good to see you again as well, Varsha.” The dragon replied as he thought on what she had said to him, about the Highlands and people being dangerous. He eyed her for a moment before it click as to what she was asking him about.
”I'm here because I live here.” He replied simply.
He looked to Basse.
”A pleasure to meet you, my lady, I assume you are a sister to Varsha? As she said, I am Hacesh.” He introduced himself before going back to the matter at hand.
”I'll admit, my horde cave is hidden in these lands, and very well I might add. I've had it here for over two thousand years, so if you think I'm packing up now and moving, you're wrong.” He sighed.
”Ever couple of generations the people who live out here seem to either think I'm a new dragon in the area, or have become a threat to them, or their new to the lands and don't know me yet.” He shrugged, not showing any concern at all.
”They get nervous about me and send people to either chase me away or try and kill me. The ones trying to kill me I scare away, the ones trying to scare me away I laugh at and talk to until they believe I am no threat, and, as you know, Varsha, I am no threat unless given a reason to be.” He looked to Basse.
”As for the wee part, this is my natural form, but I can become much larger.” He grinned.
”Though, I am happy to see you again, Varsha, how are things with you?”

He allowed her to take off on his back. It was something that she didn’t have much experience with, dragons that was. It was a bit of something new and old all mixed together as they went towards their goal. Once they made it to the camp it took no time at all to make sure that the bandits were defeated. It was glorious watching the fire of a dragon destroy everything. It was as the legends said but she wasn’t scared. Hacesh was not her enemy and she didn’t think he ever would be. She got off of his back and made sure everything was clear. She took a labored breath as it finished and smiled up at him. “Thank you Hacesh. This has taken much burden off my shoulders… At least for now. There will always be something else.”
Once again they were off in a new direction. Heading towards the haunted lands of the Harena. She could see the green skies as they got closer. It was eerier than anything she had ever seen. Which was saying something since she had once spent time in the Umbral Depths. She was thankful for the barrier that Hacesh provided for her. Though she took her time to admire the views all around them as they flew the skies.
Their time, however, came and went as he met her mother. The tragedy of the Harena came to a close. Life went on like normal and Varsha hardly had the time to think back to the gentle dragon. Not to say he left her mind completely.
The jobs came and went until she got a letter from her sister in the Highlands. Her eyes read it over and she rolled her eyes. “Great a dragon… Just what people in the Highlands need.” She took a breath before saddling up her lizard and taking off at a far faster pace than a horse could keep. The journey didn’t take long at all since she had been back home for a small period of time. The lizard was great at getting traction on the sand as she went making the journey overall easier.
Once she saw the brute she called a sister in her sights she got her mount to move faster. “Basse!” Varsha was excited as she hopped off the lizard and hugged her sister. Basselina had the same red hair as her but her skin was pale. Basselina was much more muscular than Varsha but just as tall. “You said you had a dragon?”
“Aye, the bugger is hiding out in the hills… Hasn’t attacked anymore but the wee folk are scared of it. Figured we could spook it out or kill it… Whatever happens first. I don’t want to be dragon food.” Basselina had a heavy highland accent as Varsha caught up on what was happening.
“I see, well we will see what we can do.” She put her hands on her hips for a second as the two sisters caught up. After a small time had passed they saddled up and were on their way deep into the highlands. It was the more mountainous area of the region and Varsha didn’t like how pinned she felt in between the mountains.
“There it be,” Basselina started to sneak up on it and she lightly jabbed it with her sword. It was asleep. “It is a wee little thing ain’t it? More like the wee folk of dragons.”
Varsha tilted her head and came up to her sister. After a few moments, her mouth dropped. “Hacesh? What the hell are you doing in the highlands? This is dangerous…”
“You know this wee little dragon?” Basselina made a size with her fingers as she chuckled. “Lucky day for this dragon then…”
Varsha jabbed her sister in the side. “Hacesh, it’s dangerous to wander around when people think you are just as dangerous!”
