Angela held both of their hands, in all of her years she had done many ceremonies. She had done a lot of them for her people and Kirika was no different. There was something about the way Kirika and Bryar were staring at each other that made her feel a tad jealous. Nodding to Bryar’s words she pulled their hands up so everyone can see.
“Have you ever tried to get a knot out of a piece of jewelry? It’s a pain in the behind isn’t it?” Angela cracked a smile and Kirika laughed. “A love knot is no different. You want this knot here. You don’t want to disturb it or even make it come undone. This knot is your marriage. This little red ribbon represents the whole that you two form. You two will continue to grow as individual people but you must always remember where your heart is. If you do not nurture what you have it will come undone.” She wiggled their hands out of the ribbon and presented them the knots.
“We have presents for each of you.” Two pretty onyx rings were presented, one was clearly more decorated with blue gems like Kirika’s eyes. “Crafted in Baltil. These will be the rings of your marriage. A present from the Queens of Arri.” Moving she gave them each the other’s.
“Put the rings on you two. We don’t have all day.” Kirika laughed at her aunt’s words as she slipped Bryar’s ring onto his heartstring finger. “These rings are the final binding. Let not even the passage of time separate you two. Forever and always. You may share the first kiss to finish the binding when you are ready.”

“I don’t know the last time I was this clean,” Bryar said in response to Kirika’s comment on his appearance. “But you… you look just as beautiful as you always do,” he said, beaming. He gripped her hands as she grabbed his and his smile broadened as she kissed his skin. While he and Kirika still held hands, he twisted to get a better look at the small crowd that had gathered to watch their union. He quickly looked back to Kirika, his heart pounding from nerves - he had never been great at being in front of people, and this was certainly no time for him to panic.
Bryar’s eyes moved away from Kirika one more time to fall on Angela as the goddess began to speak the words that would make up the marriage between he and Kirika. He smiled as she took their hands in her own and spoke words of lasting love, his eyes drifting back to Kirika once more. The two had hardly known each other, but he felt more connected to her than he would have expected, and now they were being bonded together by a Triune goddess - it was unexpected but wholly welcome in his mind.
As Angela wrapped the string around their hands, he shifted his gaze back to her and paid full attention to what she was saying and to the blessings that she was bestowing upon them. He could not remove the smile from his face, as Kirika spoke an honest and true resolution to what Angela said to her. He was glad to see that she did not seem nervous to be married to him, but mostly at the situation. She had him convinced that this was what she wanted, just as much as he wanted it.
Then, it was his turn.
His eyes watered a bit more, tears of joy now forming. “I would dream of nothing more than to be that light for her,” he said to Angela, though he did not take his eyes away from Kirika. “I will help her lead her court, as well,” he said, his eyes lingering on his love waiting for Angela to finish the ceremony.

When Bryar made it up to her she gave him a smile and moved her finger up to mess with the water in his eyes. There was a gentle smile to her face as she chuckled, “I’ve never seen you this cleaned up before..” Maybe there would be a lot more of this but she didn’t mind either way. She took his hands in hers and brought them up to her painted lips, gently she kissed them as not to smudge the make up that the others worked so hard on.
Angela was dressed for the occasion now, perhaps a little too much even for Abed. Her red hair was littered with flowers and plants, truly mother earth. They had but a small crowd around them as they were getting ready for the ceremony. They sat down on benches that seemingly sprung up when Kiri wasn’t looking. She blushed a bit as she felt all eyes on Bryar and herself.
Kiri’s blue eyes left Bryar’s only to look at Angela who was waiting for the voices to settle. “Love is fleeting.” Angela opened up with her words, her voice soft but it seemed to flow through the air. “You blink and someone you can never forget appears in your world. Some of us are not so lucky to keep this person. They disappear on the wind that brings them in. These two souls are a few of the lucky ones.”
Ang took their hands in hers and smiled to each of them. “In all of my years, I’ve only known a few loves that I was jealous of. One is my sister Toya and her husband Blaine. My parents were the other. I wanted that and again I stand here jealous. Love so fleeting and deep seeded yet so young. I can tell it will last like the Crystalized flowers of Sularia. Forever and always, our words of choice. My ex husband and I had a phrase… Until Final Death.”
She took a string and tied it around both of their hands. “It meant that until the day our souls stopped walking this plane that we would be together and married. We would care for our children despite how we felt for each other.” Her eyes went to Kirika and then to Bryar’s. “You are not getting a blessing from me but from that phrase itself. I want to bless you instead with luck and happiness. Something that this world, so dark that it is, needs. I want you to lead that light while you lead your Court into it.”
Kirika gave a smile and nodded to Bryar. “I can do that. I can do that with all of my heart and strength.”
Angela gave a nod and smiled, “I knew you could. I’ve watched you since I was a girl. You were able to touch the shadows and make them disperse but you never had a light to add to the darkness. Bryar will you be her light? Light the shallow shadows she disperses and help her lead the Court. If you can do this, I bless not only you but your children. It is happiness that we need in this world.”

The were lifted an eyebrow at Angela when she mentioned ‘little Bryars’ running around. Truthfully, his relationship with Kirika had blossomed so suddenly that he hadn’t put any thought at all into what their future would look like. Would the two of them end up bearing children together? He supposed it would make sense, as she was to become Queen. Royals were generally expected to keep up appearances and bear children to carry on the family name. The thought was not unpleasant to him, in fact it brought a smile to his face. “We shall see about that, won’t we?” he responded to Angela, the smile giving away his thoughts on the subject.
He gave a backward glance at Kirika as Lily began to take him away, making an attempt to blow her a kiss but failing miserably. A while later, Lilly had managed to clean him up and even tame his wild hair. He glanced in a mirror, and raised his eyebrows in mild surprise. “M’la- Lily,” he said, correcting himself as he recalled that he had been told not to refer to her in such formal terms. “I’m impressed. I don’t think I’ve ever looked this… clean,” he said, with a bit of a laugh.
Lily disappeared, and came back a few moments later, carrying some very brightly colored clothing over her arm. She held it up to Bryar, who immediately began to shake his head. “Nope, not happening,” he said, looking at the ruby colored tunic which appeared to be about knee length, coupled with golden pants. The shoes looked like slippers that he had seen women wear before, made from the same color red as the tunic.
Lily gave Bryar a smile. “Yes,” she said, and cornered the were, forcing him into the garments. A bit of a struggle later, he was clothed in Abed’s finest, staring at himself incredulously in a mirror. Lily was laughing and he was frowning… he felt like a painted doll. “You look so handsome!” she told him reassuringly, and he could not help but smile. “If this is what I have to wear to marry Kirika, then this is what I shall wear,” he said, resolve in his voice.
Lily quickly led him to the center of town where an arch set with lilies and roses had been laid out for the ceremony. It seemed that Kirika had not arrived just yet, and Bryar could feel butterflies in his stomach as he awaited her arrival. The Abedian Color Festival was underfoot, and joyous sounds filled the air from all directions, matching the feelings that Bryar was having about the upcoming nuptials. “Finishing touch!” said Lilly, draping a gold cloak-like scarf over his arm.
At that moment, he heard Kirika laugh his name and turned to see her in all of her beauty. Breathless, he could only breathe the three syllables of her name. “Kirika,” he whispered nearly inaudibly, his eyes watering slightly. For having known the girl for such a short time, he felt completely overwhelmed with emotion at the prospect of what was to come.

The goddess seemed amused by their responses but she was even more amused that they were so serious about it. “Then let it be so. We’ll do it in town center near the color festival.” Angela gave Bryar a smile. “You are absolutely correct. And soon you’ll have little Bryars running around!” Kirika shot Angela a look but the goddess just chuckled.
Lily took Bryar by his arm and smirked at Kirika. “You aren’t allowed to see each other in your outfits. I will take care of the bear you take care of the girl.” Lily whisked him off to get dressed in some of Abed’s finest wedding outfits. She even cleaned him up a bit and washed his hair.
Kirika on the other hand was taken into a shop. “This is short notice but we need a red saree… and lots of jewelry.” She could see the greed flowing from the shop keep’s eyes as Angela jingled a sack of gems. “Only the finest silk if you would.” More greed, well she couldn’t blame them. The man and wife team moved their best to get Kirika fitted with a saree that best fit the situation.
The red silk crop top fit snug against her breast. The skirt to the saree was just as vibrant of a red with gold detail stitched throughout, almost as if the thread was made of gold to give it the color. Her hair was something Angela did herself as she took time to pin it up and using her finger (and hot fire magic) she got the perfect curls. A veil of the same fabric was on the crown of her head and fastened into her fair with a golden circlet with many rubies.
Gold bangles were put on the tops of her arms, decorated with the same fine cut rubies that graced not only her circlet now but also her earrings. Kirika felt more like a queen on the way to a ball as she looked at herself in the mirror. Angela came around as finishing touches were made to the girl’s appearance. “You look beautiful. He’ll probably die.” The veil was long enough she was able to bring it around her and hold it to her sides like a cloak of sorts. She had never seen herself like this.
Angela did her make up and for once Kirika was left speechless about herself. The way Angela had done it, made her eyes shine like sapphires in candle light compared to their normal icy appearance. “Well we best get you to the center of town before he notices we’re late.” She chuckled a bit as she brought Kirika to where the celebration was being held.
Roses and lilies were everywhere as it was being set up under an arch. Not bad for a last minute decision but they did have friends. “Bryar.” Kirika chuckled his name out as she seen him for the first time in noble’s attire. It looked weird on him.

As Kirika’s grip tightened on his hand, he could not help but allowing his smile to broaden. “Then it shall be so,” he said, looking into her eyes. His gaze only left her own as Angela spoke. He looked at the Triune goddess with wide eyes.
His heart skipped a beat.
“Now?” he said, in unison with Kirika. His incredulity was not due to the fact that he was concerned about the ceremony taking place, but more over from the fact that the two had just now been betrothed. Suddenly, the strangeness of the situation washed over him. He had hardly known Kirika for very long, but he had somehow fallen in love with the young girl quickly. The two of them were now betrothed so she could become a true queen - but now the betrothal was to be short lived as the two of them were to be married shortly - if not the same day that they were currently in.
“Okay,” he said, finally, smiling at Kirika, nodding as she asked him what he thought.. “We’ll do it now.” He turned back to Angela and nodded at her. “I agree. We would be honored to have you perform our marriage ceremony, and Abed seems a fitting place for it.” He looked to Kirika, his eyes lighting up. “I don’t view it as a plunge - a plunge implies a sudden fall. This is merely another path on the road in front of us.”

Toya gave him a smile and a wink. “We have our own pack and while I might not be a lycan.. I most certainly am his wife and that makes me alpha.” She crossed her arms in victory.
“I don’t know I’ve seen Blaine throw you over his shoulder when he is thoroughly disappointed in you.” Lily chuckled.
Kirika gave Bryar a chuckle and smile, “I wouldn’t have said it if I didn’t mean it love.” She took his hands tighter and gave a grin to the other queens. It only took him answering Angela for the others to know what was going on.
Angela whirled her finger. “Then let’s get you two married.”
“Now?!” Kirika looked at Bryar.
“Why not? The Festival of Colors is going on now and I think it would make a splendid place for the two of you to be wed. The Festival of Free Love to prove your love? I quite like that and it’s romantic. We’ll get the two of you adorned in the latest fashion from Abed and get you two married. I can perform the marriage ceremony.”
Kirika looked up at Bryar and smiled. “What do you think? Take the plunge now?”

“That explains much,” he said to Lily, bowing his head graciously in thanks for the explanation. “I thought it best to keep my nose out of that mess,” he added as Lily seemed to have noticed that he was contemplating assisting Toya. “I would end up flat on my back with a black eye, I think,” he said with a soft chuckle. When Toya explained that doing things in secret was not uncommon for the Rosenites, he nodded. He felt pleased by the fact that Toya mentioned her husband was a shifter as well. “I’ve always envied the strength of werewolves,” he said. “Being a shifter without a pack has always left me at a disadvantage,” he admitted.
When Kirika stated that she would take him on as a husband if that was what he wanted, he could not help but to smile. The thought of a loveless marriage was terrifying, but he knew that would not be the case with he and Kirika. “Is it truly what you want?” he asked her quietly, taking her hand into his own. He looked into her eyes for some kind of reassurance.
He listened to the rest of the conversation, remaining silent until Angela addressed him. He held Kirika’s hand in his own still, and nodded to Angela. “If Kiriak wants this, then it shall be done. I care for her with every ounce of my being, and wish nothing more than for her to succeed where she must. It would be a great honor to be by her side while she reigns over the Black Court,” he said. “I would be more than willing to do whatever is asked of me in order to maintain peace and order,” he added. He looked at Kirika, and smiled softly. “And my heart shall be yours to command as well, if you so desire,” he said to her, raising the back of her palm to his lips in a chaste kiss.

Lily noticed Cathrine’s concentration. “You don’t know do you? Cathrine is a mute. We’re sorry for the way she has to communicate.” She decided to inform him as the situation with Angela and Toya escalated. “I also wouldn’t help Toya. She gets herself into these messes all the time.”
“We do things in secret all the time Bryar. Hell, I think think that’s how Angela gets most of her daughters married off.” Toya responded with a laugh. “Mine just show up with them. My husband is currently crying over the situation with our twin daughters. He is a werewolf. Strong and protective of his pack, but his girls are huge daddy’s girls and he can’t stand to see them grow up.”
Kirika coughed as if interrupting them. “I will take Bryar on as my husband if that’s what he wants, but only if that’s what he wants. I don’t plan on having a loveless marriage just to soothe your fears. Please respect that.” She was strong while talking to the other queens as if she had done it many times in the past.
“Straight forward as always, our intention was never to force it. We just let it happen and it happened a lot faster than we had intended. Though it is for the better, I promise. The Black Court needs all the support it can get. We believe that Bryar might be what the Black Court needs.”
“So you did pick him out for other reasons.”
“Indeed, the Black Court doesn’t have all of the bad people out yet. We need to find them and deal with them. Someone like Bryar is needed for that. We aren’t exactly quiet when dealing with these situations and we need them to be as quiet as possible.” Angela took a sigh and looked at Bryar. “Will you marry Kirika and serve as Consort?”

Bryar found himself mildly alarmed at the fact that Catherine was able to invade his mind, but brushed it off after a moment. Telepathy was nothing new to him, but it always seemed to make him feel mildly uncomfortable whenever he was around it. He nodded at Catherine in understanding. He found himself even further startled when Angela landed a punch to Toya’s torso, knocking her to the floor. His instinct told him to help her out, but he stayed where he was and did not move, curious to see where this discussion was heading.
He listened to Angela’s further explanation as to why the two had not been informed of such things. “I was most certainly of the understanding that my duty was to protect Kirika by any means necessary - I just did not know that this is what you had in mind,” he said. He cheeks reddened - he was certain that the queens were well aware of the events that had taken place between himself and Kirika - but what shocked him even further was the fact that they did not seem to care - it was almost as if that was what they had wanted to happen.
He quieted once more when Kirika began to speak. She did not seem to be surprised at the situation, which actually surprised Bryar even further. He was glad to hear that Kirika had not felt pressured into the situation in which they had gotten, but the next bit of conversation threw him off kilter a bit. The queens wanted them to marry? They wanted him to act as her Consort at court? It was nothing that he had imagined would be happening. Of course, he would be willing to take on whatever role was required of him, especially if it meant keeping Kirika safe.
He turned to face her, his eyes lit up with the prospect, though he said nothing, only waiting for her to speak to him first.

Cathrine’s voice invaded Bryar’s mind. “I wouldn’t be too worried about Toya. She is like that everyday. I can feel your concern about it.” Her lips formed a smile once more. “Toya is just that annoying little sister who is spoiled rotten and does whatever she pleases. She is good folk though once she warms up to you. We had to force her out here.”
The queens froze up at the words and Toya started to laugh. “No one told them? No one?” Angela punched Toya in the gut and the youngest fell to the floor.
“It wasn’t time to tell them. Not everyone gets knocked up in one night and married the next like you Toya. We were letting them get to know each other,” Angela’s words made Toya growl but the White Queen let it go as if she couldn’t argue the point. “We were looking for a suitor for Kirika. Someone that knows the world is dangerous and can take care of her. Our hopes were that you would two would be compatible.”
Kirika’s lips didn’t move, it didn’t really shock her. “So I can make my own decisions correct? You aren’t going to force these things on me?”
“You misunderstand, it was your decision with Bryar was it not? You had the keys to the situation this whole time. We just took the time to profile people to find Bryar.” Lily answered gentle.
“In other words and fancy talk, we found you someone we knew you would most likely like and he you.” Toya stood up and brushed herself off. “It isn’t easy being a new queen and ruling by yourself. It’s not that we think you can’t do it. It’s the exact opposite, you do it too well. You put all the strain on yourself and have no one you can relate to. So we found someone who you could confide in. If it wasn’t for Blaine I wouldn’t be able to be stable long enough to make decisions.”
Kirika’s eyes softened a bit and she gave a smile. “So what you’re saying is?”
“We want you two to get married and Bryar act as the Consort of the Queen.” Cathrine chimed in, her voice floated through their heads. “Most of us were raised for the role and we have found that we wished we had someone to share it with when it gets rough. Not many of us have others. I don’t. Lily certainly doesn’t. Angela is in her own little land… and Toya, well Toya needs Blaine like you need Bryar. Except you are not a psychotic lunatic.”
Toya made a face. “I’m not psychotic. I think I’m just fine.”
“You skydived off a dragon to land on a pegasus to take it down. I don’t classify that as fine Toya,” Angela snapped and sighed. “What Cathrine said is true. It really does take two so one doesn’t lose sanity. We’re the first line of defense for when things go wrong in Sularia. Our people are not easy to deal with.”

It comforted Bryar some to hear the way the Kirika described Angela. Knowing that she was a Triune goddess gave him a bit of fear, but she made a good point - the gods were weaker in Parvpora, and if she wanted to exert her power over Bryar in a menacing way they would have summoned the pair back to Canelux, where she would be at full strength. This, in a way, made him worry less, and he gave her a slight nod. “I can see what you mean, and that does offer a bit of peace, doesn’t it?” he said, giving her a bit of a smile.
“We will dance,” he assured her, giving her a quick twirl to prove his point. “Perhaps this is a meeting for a good reason, and not a negative, and it won’t take overly long?” he said, hopefully. It was apparent in his voice, however, that he understood how complex some things became with Rosenites and he was not expecting much in terms of the meeting’s length being short. “I look forward to meeting more of your family, regardless of the circumstances,” he said. “For if they are important to you, then they are just as important to me,” he added, squeezing her slightly.
He gave her a quick wink when she mentioned being able to see him change another time, and as he did so his eyes flashed from their deep chocolate brown color to a golden hue - the color that they took on during his change - before going back. “It will happen eventually - but yes, this meeting must be of great importance,” he agreed.
He followed Kirika to the dancing district of the sacred city in which they resided, and could tell immediately when they had reached the area in which the queens awaited them. His concern skyrocketed when he saw one of them dangling from a vine, bound and gagged. He worried a bit more at this, his hand instinctively holding Kirika closer to him. Throughout his worry, however, he could not help but take in the beauty of the Rosenites that stood before them.
Bryar stood idly by Kirika as the queens conversed, not really sure what he should do or say. It seemed that there was some tension and animosity between them, and he surely hoped that it was not due to him. The smile that Angela gave him, however, reassured him slightly, though her words about picking him for Kirika confused him a bit. The bit about Lily making the arrangements made sense, but the rest was a bit… befuddling.
“Forgive me,” he said, bowing his head respectfully. “But what do you mean by ‘picked me’?” he asked, his glance looking to Kirika for a bit of an explanation, though he was unsure if she would be able to give him one. “I know that Lily wanted me to protect her in the world, but I am getting the sense that there is an alterior motive?” he asked, in his best attempt to not come across offensively.
Author: Kirika, Posted: Wed Aug 10, 2016 10:33 AM, Post Subject: Learning the World[P/R]
“They are quite fearsome.” Kirika gave him a nod and smile. “Though they will be on their best behavior. I have a feeling Angela chose this spot because Parvpora makes her weaker. I don’t think she wants to intimidate you. If she wanted to, we would know it. She’s not one to play around with her family if she thought they were in danger. That is the one thing I respect most about her.”
Toya on the other hand made Kirika shiver. She was the less stable of all the queens and had more than once been tied to a bed for treatment. She wasn’t sure of the story but she was sure it was bad since Angela was her primary care. “We could still dance, afterwards though. I’m not sure how long this meeting will take. I’ve never been to one before though I’ve heard Toya stalemates it everyone once in a while… Angela and her get into a death stare match until Toya gives in. Being immortal has made Angela quite the patient one.”
After her slight self conscious moment Kirika never felt more beautiful than when Bryar had told her so. She blushed gently and kissed him back as she took hold of his hands. “I can see you shift whenever I want. It is just as important as meeting them, I promise.”
After they finished dressing they walked into the dancing section of Abed. It took no time at all to spot the four queens though something seemed awkward. Toya was tied up and gagged hanging from a vine while the other three chatted. Cathrine with her long snow white hair, she looked oddly like Angela in ways, though it did not surprise Kirika. Lily who shined bright like gold in the sun, with her golden hair and sun-kissed skin. Angela, the renowned beauty of the conclave, with her red curls. Then there was Toya, she looked oddly plain as she struggled in her bindings. She had long brown hair and sun-kissed skin.
Shots of fire left her lips as Toya got the bindings undone. “I said I didn’t want no part of this.”
“Any. It’s any part in this,” Angela corrected her. “You very well are in fact a part of this. IF you don’t like it, I can tell Grandmother?”
Toya froze and made a stubborn face. “I hate you…”
“Hate is a strong word Aunt Toya,” Kirika clung to Bryar as they closed in. They got smiles from everyone but Toya.
“Hate is well deserved for the old hag.” Toya spit in Angela’s direction before Angela could slap her.
“Manners Toya please. We’re civilized beings not animals.” Angela gave Bryar a smile. “Welcome Bryar, we all know about you, after all we did pick you out for our Kirika. Though Lily made all the arrangements.”

“If this is the one time that you must protect me, I fear around the women of your family it is probably most necessary,” he said, with a bit of a laugh even though the situation did not seem to be one that called for laughter. He felt worried - but Kirika telling him that he would be fine made him feel a bit better. When she climbed out of the bed and wrapped her arms around him, he could not help but smile. “What we have done certainly does not feel wrong… and I have kept you safe for the time we have been gone,” he said. Truthfully, they had not been out of Sularia for very long, but Kirika was still in one piece and no one had attempted to harm her.
“The dancing section?” he said, visibly and nervously swallowing. “You did say that you wanted to dance with me,” he said, cocking an eyebrow at her. “Though I think that this would hardly be the time for it. And I do not know if another trip to the bathhouse would be such a good idea, with your family there… I don’t know if I would be able to help myself,” he said, his eyes scanning her form up and down.
He could see that she was eyeing her own body self consciously. He turned her around so she was facing him, and ran his hands down her sides and up along her chest, lingering slightly, before cupping her face and turning it up towards him. “You are beautiful, Kirika,” he said, and leaned down to kiss her briefly. With a quick laugh, he realized something. “You know, meeting with your family is going to put a damper on you seeing me shift,” he added teasingly, though he had every intention of making sure that she would be able to experience seeing it sooner than later.

She chuckled at Bryar. “You have a silver tongue in the morning.” She kissed his lips softly and was almost tempted by it. They did had a lot of stamina for supernatural beings that much was certain and she most certainly was not complaining.
The look that crossed her face made her even more sad as she watched Bryar react to her. “I’m not sure.” It was the only thing she could muster as she thought everything through. This had been what Lily wanted, that much was certain. So why the calling? Why were they going to meet in Abed of all places? Just what did they want with Bryar?
“I don’t know.” It was a vague answer to a complex situation. “You are fine.” She smiled at him and shook her head. “I’ll protect you. This would be the only time I could do such a thing for you.” Kirika climbed out of the bed and wrapped herself around him. “I don’t think you did anything wrong. You might have done everything right. We won’t know until we meet with them. They should be here by now if they go by Angela’s gates…”
She sighed a bit. “They will probably be in the dancing section if I know them… The bathhouse is another option. We won’t know until they tell us. I don’t know if they would even subject you to such torture.” Kirika looked down at her less than busty body knowing that compared to them, she was rather plain, at least she thought so. “Just be prepared for anything. Toya is nuts.”

He drifted peacefully off to sleep with Kirika’s voice in his ears, dreaming pleasant thoughts of the two of them together for quite some time. When morning came, he awoke to her voice and her lips brushing his cheek, a smile still plastered on his mouth. “Good morning,” he said, softly, though he frowned slightly when he saw that she had already gotten dressed. “The day is long - come back to bed and I’ll show you even more things than you are expecting,” he said slyly, reaching out to grab her to pull her back into the bed with him.
He stopped mid-grab when he saw the look cross her face. He sat up in the bed, the bed sheets sliding down to his waist. “Is everything okay?” he asked immediately, though his question was answered when she continued speaking. The name Angela seemed familiar to him, but it did not click at first, until he realized that she spoke of one of the Triune - so nonchalantly, he assumed that it would be another member of her family in some way or another.
“Should I be worried?” he asked, his voice concerned. Though, in his eyes, he and Kirika had done nothing wrong, he could not be so easily convinced that Lily wasn’t sending the other court queens to make him answer for his wrong-doings - perhaps she had not intended for this to be the result of his and Kirika traveling together, and she was now upset and sending the Triune Goddess to do her bidding? “What should I do? Do I need to do anything?” he asked, climbing out of the bed and searching for his clothing. He pulled his pants on quickly, not bothering with the shirt at the moment. “I am sorry, Kirika, if I have done something to get you in trouble,” he said, his cheeks reddening and looking down at the floor.

Kirika giggled softly at his words as he hugged her tight against his body. “We can talk about it more in the morning.” She reassured him as she watched him drift into a sleepy state.” She pulled the blankets up onto them and snuggled her forehead into his neck after he kissed it.
“After Abed? I heard there’s a place where it’s Autumn all the time. I would love to go there.” She said with as much sleep in her voice as he had. “There’s a lake… and it is beautiful. I’ve seen paintings,” a soft yawn left her lips as she thought about it.
Sleep came quickly after that and she found herself in a restful dream, happiness. She was sure that’s what it was. In the morning she got up and pulled her dress on. She leaned over and kissed his cheek. “Time to wake up, we don’t want to sleep the day away Bryar. You have a lot to show me.” She chuckled a bit.
She had a look go across her face for a moment. “There’s going to be a meeting. Angela just sent a message. Apparently it has to do with you. She says finish our trip to Abed and then we will meet somewhere here… Apparently they are all traveling out this way…” What could they want with Bryar?

“Whatever Lily’s plan is… it’s obviously working, if this was it,” Bryar said, lazily. “But I don’t know that I care… whatever plan she had has brought me to you and… and this,” he said, hugging her tightly. “I don’t want to jeopardize this, so we will go along with whatever it is,” he added, his words beginning to jumble together as he began to feel tired. “Perhaps we can discuss it further in the morning… as for now, I am content to fall asleep with you here in my arms,” he said, his voice becoming deeper the more sleep began to take over him.He leaned over and planted his lips on her forehead in a soft kiss. “Tell me… where do you want to go when we leave Abed?” he asked. He merely wanted to hear her voice, but also had a curiosity as to whether or not she had thought anymore on where their travels would take them next.He found himself wondering on what Kirika had said to him. Had Lily really recruited him to be more than a bodyguard? Was she looking for a companion for the young to-be queen? He didn’t care, for now that he had experienced what it was going to be like, and he couldn’t think of a better way to spend his time, whether it had been arranged or not.

Kirika gave him a smile. “I know and I trust you to show me everything.” She chuckled at him when he mentioned other things and kissed him gently even if they were out in the open, it wasn’t like most Rosenites would care.
Once they were in their room at the inn she appeared happy as she laid on him. His fingers tickled her sides and she let out a light giggle as he moved him. “I’m glad you aren’t disappointed if you were I would be sad.” She gave him a smile once more.
She squeaked as he flipped her and laughed. The growl that came from his lips did little to deter her. It was sexy in a way to her, and she remembered he was a shifter it was in his nature to growl. Wrapping her arms around him she kissed him back, she tried to keep up with the wild side of him. It was much easier to maneuver in the bed than the bath.
Quickly it seemed to escalate and the two were found in a fury once more. She was quite honestly sure that many people had heard the new lovers. After everything was done she curled up on him and held him dearly close. “Don’t ever change, I mean it. I don’t know what Lily’s angle was when she sent the two of us out but I imagine we will find out.” She played with his hair and gave a yawn.

He smiled with contentment as Kirika snuggled into him, her fingers intertwining with his own. Truth be told, this had not been what he expected was going to take place when he was enlisted to travel to Sularia, but he had no complaints on how things had ended up. In one way, he was just as alone as Kirika had been, though he had not been confined to one room for the entirety of his life. They both had many things to experience, and he was looking forward to experiencing these things with her.
When she agreed with his plan for the evening, he let out a bit of laughter at the realization that she seemed to have forgotten the events that had taken place between the two of them just a few minutes ago. When he felt her lips brush his forehead, his smile broadened even a bit further.
“Mmm.” He made a contented sound at the thought of what she mentioned happening when they found an inn to stay at. His smile switched to a frown when she got up and covered herself, but he laughed a bit at her incredulity. “Nor did I,” he said, reclining for a bit longer before standing himself up and covering himself as well.
It didn’t take long for the two of them to exit the bathhouse after redressing and paying for their time there. When they stepped into the city, Bryar laced his fingers into Kirika’s, both in order to keep her near him and to have some sort of physical contact between the two. “I promise I will show you the city tomorrow, but if you want me to be able to protect you and… other things…” he said, pausing for a moment. “Then we must retired for the evening.” He gave her a small smile as they entered the inn and got a room.
When she pulled him down onto the bed, he laughed, pulling her close to him as she laid her head on his chest, the thin fabric the only thing between the two of them. “Alright,” he said as he obliged her request. His hand lazily trailed up and down her side, his fingers just barely touching her. “I never thought of this as a possibility,” he admitted, speaking of course about the activity that had taken place between the two of them. “But I am not disappointed,” he said.
From seemingly out of nowhere, he grabbed Kirika and flipped her around so he was positioned on top of her, an almost feral growl escaping his mouth - a result of the were side of him. He leaned down and kissed her hungrily, his hands trailing down her sides once more, his intent clearly stated that he did not want to just lay quietly in the room before they went to sleep.

Kirika found herself much smaller than the werebear she was with. Her blue eyes closed and she seemed happy as she relaxed against him. A smile came to her face as he told that her dream wasn’t in fact silly at all. It was the perfect dream for the two of them in the end. She tangled her fingers with him and laughed slightly. “I love it.” She snuggled into him after he kissed her forehead.
She was all too excited about him shifting in front of her to realize that she might have tired him out. She nodded a bit and smiled. “We can do that too.” She kissed his forehead now in return and gave a smile. “Sounds like a good plan to me.”
She reluctantly pulled herself away from him and got out of the bath. “We should go to the inn. I promise, if you wish, that we can get naked there again.” Now Kirika was teasing him as she pulled the fine robe back over her body and laughed. “I never thought I would be saying those words.”
After they were dressed, paid for, and left for the inner city, Kirika found herself enthralled by the city at first glance. “This is amazing Bryar.” She had the words almost breathless from her lips as she spoke. “Oh, right inn and tomorrow we get to see the city.” She chuckled at him as she found them the first inn she seen.
Once they had a room she shut the door behind them and pulled him onto the bed. Laying there with him she put her head on his chest. “Lay like this for a little bit okay? It’s nice. Only for a little bit though.”

The notion that Kirika wanted him just as much as he desired her fueled the fire within him even further, and soon the two were involved in much more intimate activities than just kissing. Things were of course not perfect and there was a lot of figuring things out, but by the end they were both happy and pleased.
Bryar wrapped his arms around Kirika as they lay against the edge of the bath, holding her close to him. Her words from earlier about his being with her when she would call on her court caused a warmth in him unlike anything he had ever felt before. “It’s not a silly dream,” he said, heading back to the topic from before they had diverted off in another direction. “I would be honored to be at your side for such an event… and for everything else in your life,” he said, with a smile. He kissed her on her forehead.
He laughed as she mentioned the fact that he said he would shift in front of her. “We can,” he said, laughing softly. “But perhaps we should find an inn for the evening, and save that for tomorrow?” he suggested. They had ended up spending quite a bit more time in the bathhouse than he had anticipated, and sleep was beginning to sound good to him, especially with the prospect of getting to spend more time close to Kirika. “We can see the city by day tomorrow, and then at dusk we will head to the outskirts and you can see me change,” he said. ‘How does that sound?”

She chuckled a but more at him as he froze. It was entertaining to seen a man who was older than she was acting this way. “You can have me.” She said it just as softly as he spoke. She laughed as he pulled her up. “I’m sorry, I don’t find this funny I swear.” She wrapped her arms around his neck.
Kirika kissed him softly and slowly it filled with the fire both of them had. It was a slow build. She looked disappointed as he pulled away from her. “You weren’t, I want you as much as you want me.” She chuckled a bit and wrapped herself tightly around him once more. “I want to enjoy our moments as much as possible. We’re going to travel the whole world together and someday when I’m ready… I want you there with me when I call on my court.”
She chuckled softly and kissed him quickly. “It must sound silly like some girl’s silly little dream.” She kissed him again and again. Sure it was a bit sloppy at first but the two of them figured it out. By the end they were laughing and laying against the stone wall of the bath. She snuggled into him. “You promised me you would shift at some point. Will you shift on the outskirts of town for me? On the outskirts of Abed. I want to love every aspect of you.. or at least get to know them.”

It gave Bryar pride to hear Kirika say that he was doing a great job at protecting her. He always took pride in anything he attempted to do, and it pleased him to know that he was doing well. He was also glad that she seemed to approve of the actions he took in moving her closer to him, causing him to slightly tighten his grip on her waist. “I am glad that you know this,” he said, his voice still holding the deeper tone it had taken on.
He listened intently to her explanation of Rosenites and their matchmaking, and it dawned on him: perhaps Lily had requested him from such a far distance not only to protect Kirika from those who would do her harm, but also to be of service to her in other ways. If it was truly for that reason, he had to give the Queen credit, because he wanted many things besides protecting Kirika.
He froze for only a split second when she leaned up and kissed him, bending to meet her level so her forehead could rest against his own, listening to her as she spoke to him. “I… would like to have you,” he said softly. He ran a hand down the side of her face again, speaking once more. “Your happiness is my happiness, Kirika,” he said, and with that he gently lifted her up in the water, holding her close against him. He wrapped his hands underneath her bottom, holding her up, and kissed her as she had him earlier, though his kiss held more passion and fire than their first had, fueled by the thought that she was okay with the scenario unfolding.
After a moment he pulled away from her, still holding her up. “If I was too forward, please tell me,” he said, though he felt he knew the answer before she could give it. “I want you to be incredibly comfortable with me,” he said.

Kirika gave a smile and nodded. “I know you did. And you have done a great job so far.” She giggled lightly and kept close to him. She felt his touch against her lips and smiled brightly towards him. A light laugh left her lips as she got closer to him. “I know, I can tell by looking at you Bryar.”
She was glad that they had the same inexperience. It would be wonderful once they fully acquainted with each other. “I should tell you, my people have a way of setting people up. I’ve only heard stories but I imaged the Queen of Love and Lust had plans when she chose to bring you.” She blushed a bit as she leaned up and kissed him softly.
She bent him down and put her forehead to his. “Whatever you want you can have it. I can assure you that I want it as well. I’m not as well adjusted as the others but I have room to learn. I just want to share my happiness with someone… Can I share it with you?”

Bryar locked his eyes with Kirika’s as she turned his head back towards her, eventually returning. He was surprised to hear her say that his accidental touch had been well received, but also relieved. He had been worried that she would think he was being lecherous or disgusting, when it had truthfully been accidental. Granted, he did enjoy the brief touch, but he had not wanted to do anything along those lines without her consent.
Her words of trusting him echoed in his mind. He did not want to betray Kirika’s trust, nor did he have any plans to. He also had no intention of hurting the girl, and it seemed as though she was nearly inviting him to resume his touch, if not more. He had pledged to her aunt that he would protect her… what would she do if something were to happen and she found out? Surely Lily had known that sending him off with a beautiful young woman, being a fairly attractive man near the same age, wouldn’t result in something else. He pushed the thought from his mind, finding more ease in forgetting about it as Kirika’s hands ran down the length of his arms.
Closing a bit of the distance between them, he reached a hand up, carressing his fingertips against her cheek. “I have made a promise to keep you safe,” he said, his voice taking on a deeper, lower tone than it usually possessed. His thumb brushed very lightly against her lower lip, his other hand reaching out to slide gently down her side, gripping her hip and gently pulling her closer to him. “I would never dream of doing anything to hurt you,” he said, his eyes still locked with her own.
Her last phrase gave him a bit of hope - if something did happen between the two, she would be understanding of his inexperience - but at present moment, he found no trouble in knowing how to position his hands in an intimate yet respectful manner, pulling her even closer to him, their chests merely inches apart. His hand still cupped her face, and it was clear in his eyes that his thoughts about her were anything but innocent.

Kirika gave him a laugh and shook her head. “Not all the time, only some.” While she watched him enjoy the bath she gave him, a smile remained on her face. She was glad that she was able to do such things for him. He, after all, was more than just her key to freedom at this point.
From there she turned around and allowed him to do the same thing. She relaxed and even noticed him doing a bit more than just washing her back. It felt good to have someone touch her, she had never felt it quite like that. There were baths as a family but this was entirely different, and she had only heard stories from her cousins.
She jumped a bit when he left her hips. “No, it’s alright!” She jumped around and looked at him. “I – I rather liked it.” She said it in a hurry. “It’s nothing to be sorry about it.” She turned his head towards her and gave him a smile. “I trust you Bryar. I know you won’t hurt me. So why wouldn’t I trust you in everything?”
She rubbed the sides of his arms with a blush going across her face. “I only know what I was taught, but sadly it wasn’t that much about anything. I didn’t hardly see the sun outside of my balcony and that wasn’t freedom. This is freedom though.”
Author: Bryar, Posted: Wed Jul 20, 2016 5:32 PM, Post Subject: Learning the World[P/R]
Bryar paid more attention than necessary to her hand patting the top of his head. It seemed that the two came from entirely different worlds, and the things that he found uncomfortable and foreign to him were not to her. She seemed entirely comfortable being only inches away from him while they were both completely unclothed. He kept his eyes on her face, fighting the urge to trail down to gaze on the silhouette that he could just barely see the outline of through the murky water.
He chuckled when Kirika brought up her cousin, imagining Kirika dancing - picturing her hair swaying with each movement. The thought brought a smile to his lips again. “Let me tell you a secret, Kirika,” he said, leaning a bit closer to her. “Most men are idiots,” he said, giving her a grin.
He reluctantly allowed her access to his back, his eyes closing when her hands met his skin coupled with the soap, washing off the dirt that had accumulated on their journey. He fought back the urge to let out a contented sigh, instead tilting his head back slightly. It was clear that he enjoyed not only the contact from Kirika, specifically when she leaned her body up against his back to reach his shoulders, but also the feeling of getting clean after such a long time without it.
When she positioned herself so he could return the favor and pulled her hair away from her back, he gazed at her for a moment, caught in a reverie that he could not quite shake. He retrieved the soap, and lathered up his hands, starting at the nape of her neck, his hands gently working the lather into her skin. His fingertips lingered over her shoulder blades and down the sides of her back, so much so that they were now trailing down her sides rather than her back. He still worked the later into washing off the grime from their journey, but there was something different to his touch other than just wanting to wash her.
Nothing he did was out of disrespect, but his hands felt drawn to Kirika. “Yes, it is beautiful,” he said, in response to her question about Abed being pretty - but he was not necessarily thinking of the city, but rather the sight before him. He took a step closer to her to get a better angle, at which point his hands slipped in the soap and caressed down her hipbones. He pulled his hand back quickly, stepping backwards in the water with a bit of a splash, his cheeks reddening quite noticeably. “Forgive me,” he said, in indication of his accidental touch, looking away from her with a shamed look in his eyes.

Kirika chuckled softly and gave him an innocent smile. “It’s not disrespecting me if I don’t think it is.” She reached up and gently patted his head. “I don’t have experience with no one outside of my family. We’re in the same boat it would seem. I’ve only ever talked to one male my entire life. That was my cousin Ash.” She could see his face reddening while she was so calm about it all. Was Arri really that different from everywhere?
It appeared her smile was contagious as he smiled with her. “Good! Dancing is always better if I don’t have to drag dead weight. Ash taught me a lot of dances! He spent a good amount of time in Abed. Mostly he was trying to get people to come back to the thought of gods. Not many people over here like that but he’s always had that nature to him. He was trained to be a paladin of course.” She looked up to her cousin Ash. “However, he can be an idiot.” That much was for sure.
When she came back to wash his back she was persistent. It was really the only way to get Bryar to go along with things it seemed. She blushed a bit at his words before they both laughed together. “It would.” She answered him as she moved around and washed his back. There was dirt, after all the ship hadn’t been the cleanest but it got them where they needed to go.
Her touches were light but she washed him as she was washed as a child. However, this time around there wasn’t a dozen or so children in the same pool of water. She chuckled at the memory. “Alright, I think I got everything.” She nodded at his question. “If you would.” She picked her hair up and moved it over her shoulder so he could wash her back.
“Abed is already so pretty isn’t it?”

He glanced up at Kirika as she lifted his face, finding it odd to be at eye level with her. Her proximity continued to have an effect on him, and he found himself eternally grateful for the murkiness of the water they were submerged in. “I’m not afraid of looking at you,” he said, softly, as he locked his eyes with her own. “I don’t want to be disrespectful to you. I have learned quickly that you aren’t shy, but…” he trailed off for a brief moment. “I will be honest with you, Kirika,” he said. “I’ve not spent much time in my life around women,” he said. “So, being in such close quarters with one is a lot for me… and this,” he said, sighing. “This is something all together on its own unusual for me,” he admitted, his face reddening a bit beneath his beard.
He could not help but smile as well when he noticed her smile. “Dancing?” he said, the idea sounding interesting to him. He had never spent much time enjoying frivolities in life - perhaps this would be the time for him to start. “You wouldn’t have to make me,” he said. “I think I could handle it willingly,” he said.
When Kirika swam away from him, grabbing soap and offering to wash his back, he froze momentarily. “Um,” he said, unsure how to answer the proposition. He chuckled at her promise not to bite. “I shift into a bear, biting doesn’t bother me,” he said, playfully, though his cheeks reddened when he realized what connotations could be behind what he said. “I mean,” he said, sputtering slightly. “I didn’t mean it like that,” he added with a laugh. “If it would please you, then by all means,” he said, internally looking forward to the experience, but making an effort not to seem too excited as he did not want to make her feel uncomfortable. “Do you want help with yours?” he asked, innocently. It was clear that he meant nothing other than assisting her, and was trying to politely return the favor that he was receiving from her.

Kirika gave him a thoughtful look, “They only did what they had to Bryar. My mother was a woman worse than the most horrible story you have ever heard. She was the stuff of nightmares who would sneak into your house and steal everything you loved while you were sleeping. You would be lucky to wake up with your limbs still attached. I heard sometimes the hearts would be missing and the babies… Don’t even get me started on those. Before we met, I had to do a large burial of my people. I understand why they kept me hidden. That must hate and anger, it’s scary for one person to have.”
Once they were in the bath, she hadn’t thought twice about undressing in front of him and calling out for him to join her. She tilted her head at him as she watched him avoid her eyes. “You don’t have to be afraid of looking at me. I’m not shy Bryar, rarely any of us are… I’m just not use to it is all.” She swam up to him and lifted his face so he could look at her.
There was a smile on her face before she chuckled. “Probably where all the dancing is. I think I’ll make you dance with me next.” She moved away from him to grab a cake of soap. “Do you want me to wash your back?” She held out the soap so he would be more comfortable accepting her offer. “I won’t bite, I promise.”

Bryar frowned when he remembered that Kirika had spent the majority of her life locked away from society. “No one should have to be shut away such as you were,” he said, part of him wanting to hold her in consolation - perhaps his intense need to make her feel safe stemmed from the fact that they had both been shut away, in different ways. He felt a connection to her that was unlike anything he had known before, and it made him want to care for her and keep her protected from the indignities of the world. “No, those men are not thinking just on your beauty, unfortunately,” he said, his brow furrowing in slight anger at the lecherous men looking her up and down. One look from Bryar and they cast their glances aside.
He reluctantly followed Kirika into the bathhouse, mildly concerned about how excited she was to be there. In his experience, bathhouses were nothing more than a place for shady and lustful activity - something that he had mostly avoided. Having never known a woman in an intimate way, he felt a bit weary of their location, given the strange feelings he found himself experiencing towards his companion. He had never bothered paying much attention to women, but he did not favor men. It was just that he had never been given reason to care for any particular woman.
Within moments, he cast his gaze away from her quickly, his cheeks reddening, as she removed her robe and slid into the water, having caught only the briefest glance of her skin. Guilt washed over him, simply due to the fact that he had not been attempting to catch a glimpse of her. He, however, fought the urge to catch another glimpse before she was submerged in the murky water. His body clearly reacted to seeing her, as an unclothed woman was not a usual sight for him. He looked at Kirika when she was hidden enough by the dark water as she demanded that he enter too. He turned his back to her and removed his robe, stepping backwards from the tile down into the bath. He did not care about Kirika seeing him unclothed - as a shifter he had no shame - but he did care about her seeing the effects that his quick glimpse of her undressing had on him.
When he was under the water enough, he slid back, opposite from her, but seemed to be avoiding making eye contact with her. “So, have you thought about where you would like to go after Abed?” he asked, in a futile attempt to change the subject and ignore the fact that he had somehow become mildly aroused, and was avoiding looking at her to avoid going even further. He felt ashamed of himself - this was unlike him, but he could not help it.
Author: Kirika, Posted: Thu Jul 14, 2016 3:40 PM, Post Subject: Learning the World[P/R]
Kirika’s blue eyes watched him gently as he seemed not particularly happy with her choice. “A quick visit is fine!” She said with excitement as she clung to him. She blinked a bit as he pulled her close and watched the men with interest. “Most people watch me like that to be honest. I was a myth for a long time.” Her eyes flickered up to him. “A queen that was not to be seen nor heard… At least for my own safety. I think some folks died when they really saw me for the first time.” She turned her face away from him to look around. “I’m use to it. Though, I imagine their thoughts aren’t like those of my people.”
Once they made it to the bathhouse, Kirika’s eyes lit up like sky art that Arri produced. It was gorgeous how the sun hit off the stained glass roofing. It shined much like the stories that were passed to her by her cousins. She gently tugged on Bryar so they could go in.
Even inside the building was beautiful from bottom to top. Each piece of mosaic was placed with care. Kirika almost walked right into the podium as she let go of Bryar’s arm. “Oh I’m so sorry!” She apologized to the woman in the green sari. They took their bath seriously, after all she had studied what the different colors of the Sari meant.
“Would you like a private bath for you and the mister?”
Kirika immediately flushed but nodded. “Please.”
They were handed two soft robes, they had to be a fortune on their own, and led back to change. Once they both changed into their robes, they were led to one of the many red doors with the lotus on them. Steam poured out as their guide opened the door. “You pay after you are done.” The woman had a soft smile as Kirika nodded and looked back at Bryar. She about tugged him in after arguing with him about being proper and him watching her bathe.
“I don’t care. I feel safer with you in here.” That was her only argument as she got rid of the robe and slid into the water. The water was murky with the herbs mixed in so he wouldn’t see much if she stayed low in the water, which she intended to. “Get in too. You have to be exhausted from the trip.” She gave him a stubborn look. “It’s nice like I can see anything!”

When Kirika’s forehead moved to press against his arm, he froze up for a moment, unsure of how to react to her closeness. After a moment, however, he relaxed. While sleeping, he draped an arm over her, his fingers lazily tangled up in her hair. Upon waking, he blinked in confusion for a few moments, but found himself pleasantly content with the position in which he woke.
Eventually the two found their way to the deck, and he was nothing but helpful as she was sick, holding her raven hair back for her whenever needed. He laughed lightly at her excitement when the finally docked, but reminded Kirika that they needed to retrieve their belongings as they did not have people to do that for them. When they had done so, he led her down the ramp and onto land.
One of the men at port called out to Kirika, inviting her to visit the bathhouses of Abed. Bryar rolled his eyes, the term ‘bathhouse’ meaning nothing to him other than a brothel, but he had heard that those in Abed were of a bit high class. Kirika’s excitement would not allow him to say no, and he rolled his eyes, nodding.
“Fine,” he said, shaking his head lightly. “But it will be a quick visit,” he added. He was trying to figure out in his head how he would keep an eye on her while he was bathing, and how he would keep an eye on her while she bathed. He resolved that perhaps his own hygiene would need to wait until they were safely in an inn, as he did not want to make her stand in the room as he bathed - he was sure that would make her incredibly uncomfortable. It was not his own modesty - being a shifter warranted him a complete lack of modesty. He just assumed that Kirika would be fairly uncomfortable seeing him naked, and bathing involved that.
He could see a few of the men in the port staring at Kirika as they walked - she was a Rosenite, and they were a beautiful people. He instinctively slung an arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to him, walking with his arm around her. “I am sorry, but the way those men are leering at you makes me uncomfortable… I can’t imagine it makes you feel too safe, either,” he added, steering them in the direction of the bathhouse.

Bryar was already very protective of her, and the young Rosenite felt like it might have been more than just the job. They understood each other a bit, even though they had barely just been acquainted. She knew that her family wouldn’t just trust anyone with her safety and once more she felt safe as she stayed close to him.
Finally on the boat she gave him an apologetic look as he gave his answer. She would not fight with him to sleep in the bed with her, and surely he had to be more comfortable in his bear form than in his humanoid one. Her icy eyes glanced around the room before finally settling in.
Though, as soon as they were out at sea, she almost complained about leaving the land. Taking a deep breath she sighed and curled up. “Water is good.” She did not seem her overly talkative self. Maybe it was because she felt like she was holding her stomach in. Relaxing a bit as he touched her arm, she gave him a smile and nodded.
She moved slightly as she smiled more. Her eyes scanned over him lightly as she adjusted on the bed and sighed a bit. “Rosenites don’t like to travel over sea or up in the air, at least most of us. I had hoped I would be a special case like my Aunt Toya. She rides dragons.” She frowned a bit. “Probably am so sick because of the deep connection to the earth that Rosenites have. Can’t be all crazy bitches like my aunt.” She seemed less formal now as she laid there sick, it was probably the sickness that had her that way.
The queen rolled towards him and siphoned his heat as she put her forehead on his arm. “Don’t be creeped out alright? This makes me feel better.” Her arms wrapped around his as the ship rocked against the sea. This was her first time off land and she knew she wouldn’t do too well, perhaps she could do better next time.
Finally they both fell asleep, and eventually she had managed to get completely up against him and snuggle. Her once kempt black hair was wild against him even tangling against his fingertips.
The rest of the trip would go just about similar. Though Kirika would eventually venture up from her cabin to see the ocean. There was nothing but blue for miles and it made her excited, though she fidgeted so much she ended up vomiting over the side from all the movement. She couldn’t express how happy she was when land was finally called out. She almost jumped up out of her spot and ran for the ramp at that moment.
When they finally docked she found herself dirty, sweaty, and she swore she thought she had vomit in her hair. “Why not visit the bathhouse young lady?” One of the men called. “You look like you could use a trip to Abed’s famous bathhouse.”
Kirika looked towards Bryar. “Pleeaseeee?”

Bryar smiled broadly as Kirika took his arm to walk toward the vessel, and it seemed that she knew enough to hold onto him as they travelled through the crowds of people. Her touch seemed incredibly delicate and innocent, much like she herself seemed. “There will probably be a fair amount of people aboard the ship, yes,” he said, trying hard not to chuckle at her naivete. It was alarming to him how little she knew about the outside world, yet he could not blame her - it was not her choice to be hidden away as she had been.
Noticing Kirika’s slight shaking, he pulled her a bit closer to him, as though to tell her that he would protect her no matter what - which he certainly had every intention of doing. “Once all of the passengers and cargo have boarded and been loaded onto the ship, it will leave from port. But we mustn’t stand around asking questions, or we will be left here!” he said, with a bit of a laugh.
When they arrived in their cabin, he watched her for a moment as she set her things down. Her question, however, took him aback and he was silent for a moment as he did not quite know how to respond. “Uh… I will be fine on the floor, I think,” he said, ignoring the sensation in his stomach that wanted him to say yes to the question. “You forget, I shift into a bear… sleeping on a floor will be nothing new for me.” He gave her a warm smile.
Once the ship had set out to sea, he could see immediately that Kirika was not made for travel by water. She was lying on the bed looking absolutely miserable. “The trip will not take too long,” he said, sitting down on the bed near her. He had placed a glass of water on the table near the bed. “If you get thirsty, I’ve brought you some water,” he said, and moved to get up. “I’ll be up on deck. I will come check on you in a while,” he said, placing a hand reassuringly on her arm.
Standing up, he went to leave the room, giving a glance back at his companion, and he frowned. There was no way he could leave her alone - not right now. Instead, he turned and walked back towards her, moving his form to lie down in the bed next to her, close but not too close. “I won’t leave you while you feel poorly,” he said, resting a hand on her arm. “Just let me know if there is anything I can do for you,” he said, though the moment his head hit the pillow he began to feel a bit tired, and closed his eyes, falling into a light sleep beside Kirika.

Kirika smiled at him. “Well I most certainly do not fit in the realm of this world right now. What I know about the world came from old books that might certainly be out of date. I hear romantic stories about a world that could very well be hell at our fingertips. If I wasn’t taught to question everything, I would think the world is sunshine and rainbows.”
Shaking her head the young queen smiled. “No, it’s a good thing on some occasions. I can lead my court and not be pushed over by the amount of violence my mother has left behind. I need to be a queen with centuries of experience enough though I am very young. I rely on my aunts for most of my knowledge. They are all different types of beings and well versed in their own stories.”
The switch to something lighter felt good on her as well but she suspected that many things would have to be discussed. Especially when they did not want to.
Kirika knew nothing about her father. There were rumors about who he was, or what he was. She heard he had been beautiful. He had her creamy white skin and her icy eyes. He had disappeared though and was probably dead. It saddened her but at the same time it gave her resolve to fix what her mother had done. Most of her family did not even know she existed let alone even her name.
When he touched her shoulder she jumped a bit as her daze disappeared. “Yes, of course.” She was excited. After packing what belongings she had for travel Kirika and Bryar set off for the docks. She had never seen it before and was positioned behind him most of the time as she watched everyone. The amount of people around her in the busying streets was intoxicating for her. Her hands clung to him so she would not get lost as she looked around.
Excitement filled her body as Bryar talked to her. “We’re using that one?” She spoke lightly as her blue eyes filled to the brim with the picture of the vessel. She was happy as she held onto him and walked. Again she was absorbed into everything but there enough to know that she should hang on. “Will there be lots of people on board?”
Soon she would find out as they got onto the vessel. There were many people around and she met their eyes with curiosity. The ocean at port was calm as she shook a bit. She had heard rumors. “When will we set out?” Again she would find out.
Finally they got to their cabin as she set her belongings down. She looked at the bed and back at Bryar before back to the bed. “Will we be sharing the bed?” It was an innocent question. “I don’t mind, I don’t want you to be sleeping on the floor, that would be most uncomfortable. There is bed of room.”
Before long the ship was out at sea and Kirika was stuck on the bed. “Rosenites don’t like the water.” Her eyes teared up a bit. “I like the water but it doesn’t like me.” Her pale face had become to turn a shade of green she was sure.
