Xerxez circled the camp where the warriors rested. His russet fur drew no attention in the shade that the dead of night provided. The smell of cooked meat ale and blood assaulted his nostrils every time he made a pass. He decided to patrol the outer perimeter as a favor to Angela. Pride ran deep with in Xerxez. He owed her a debt for the care that she has shown to his new family. Taking a few nights out of his schedule to protect her and her new child was the least he could do. It wasn't all bad, every now and then he was able to catch up to the rabbit, and tear out a good bit of flesh. But he truly missed hunting with his mate. The sweat, the sexual tension, pain through pleasure, nothing could compare to it.

A couple of days ago when he first arrived, he came across a grizzly bear. It was an odd encounter, seeing his former were animal as his current self. Nothing less, he felt drawn to the large rust colored bear. The bear didn't seem to mind either, as the two would cooperate in chasing off the rabbit. Over time, he had even counted on the bears presence. Even though they couldn't communicate with eachother, the body launage of animals, the unspoken tounge sufficed. He respected the bear's strength and postion. And even though the bear was strong, he knew Xerxez was alpha here. The bear knew order, something Xerxez could learn from him.

The two were stalking the outskirts of the camp, where camp fades into deep forest. Cicadas and crickets buzzed and hummed around them while they went about their bussiness keeping the camp safe. But an area south of the camp had grown quite. Xerxez looked at the bear, who merely pointed it's wet snout to the disturbance. A low growl escaped Xerxez's throat, warning the bear to remain cautious. The two took off running, careful not to intrude on the camp. The last thing he wanted was to draw the camp's attention on to him. The mighty vaewolf flinched, imaging Angela's anger. As the pair rounded the forest, the devil rabbit stood towering over them, it's fur emitting a violent red aura. It's swirling red eyes locked on to Xerxez's. The rabbit launched its self at him, Xerxez lowering his stance, growling menacingly as the rabbit closed the distance between them. The bear too, added it's growl to the guttural chours.

Xerxez lowered his self, his back legs primed to launch him into the air. The rabbit took one last massive leap, paws extended forward to crush Xerxez. All the pent up energy with in Xerxez was released as he sailed into the air, his fangs poised for the rabbits throat. Teeth met skin, sinking in, drawing the rabbit torwards the ground. The bear, Xerxez's bear, joined the frey, letting loose a fearsome roar as sharp claws ripped at the rabbits hind quarters. The pain causing the rabbit to writhe out of Xerxez's jaw lock. The rabbit was out matched and it knew so. The rabbit scurried away from the animal duo, turning tail and hopping away for it's life. With ragged breathes, Xerxez turned to the bear, his cold black eyes meeting the bears own cold eyes. He padded up slowly to the bear. The two stared at each other wordlessly. Xerxez shut his eyes, willing his self to change. Before the bear stood Xerxez, the man.

He eyed the bear, his open hand extending outwards. The bear nuzzled it's snout into his hand as Xerxez smiled darkly. "Ha. Take that. Nemesis doesn't have a fucking bear."
