The darkness that surrounded his consciousness was complete. He knew it wasn't so, but it felt like his body was suspended in the abyss. So this is what it's like to die. He thought, his mind sluggish. He couldn't feel his body, but he could swear it was there. Everything felt so cold and empty. He didn't know how much time had passed, only that he existed in this place if no where else. Surely this couldn't be it? This couldn't be the afterlife that the goddesses ruled? As he searched his mind for some kind if explanation he was left baffled by the feeling if being bound here. Something tethered him to this place. Maybe he wasn't completely dead? Just let me die, I don't want to remain in this place. He thought and everything around him seemed to respond. The abyss seemed to fracture and whatever it was tethering him there started to fray. Then he saw it… a blinding light, just a pin prick above him. It was glorious and full of life. With it came sound. He could hear bird's chirping and… a string of profanity… He didn't recognize the voice but the rope that held him bound to this shattering darkness strengthened tenfold and started pulling him towards the light until he was engulfed by it.Time had no meaning to him, he had no idea how long he had been out, but it felt like years. Slowly his sky blue eyes opened slightly but shut closed tightly. Everything seemed so bright compared to the abyss he had been in. The light burned. He shaking picked up his hand and covered his eyes letting out a moan of pain as the light continued to burn even from behind his closed eyes.  He brought his other hand up to his chest and let it fall but it disnt come in contact with his chest like he had thought. Instead it hit fur and he heard a strange noise from on top if him. It was almost like a cat purring or angry but not quite. His fingers slowly moved over the furry creature until he found what he assumed to be it's face. …it definitely wasn't a cat…. it had a bill of some sort, like a duck? It disnt seem all too pleased at his invasive prodding and nipped at his finger with its bill. With a slight surge of adrenaline his hand shot away from the creature and he forced himself into a sitting position, blinking in the blinding light trying to see what was on him. He felt whatever it was roll down into his lap and make another irritated sounding noise. He was confused. He could still hear the birds chirping and he could even hear leaves rustling in the light breeze. Where was he? How did he get here? Was he dead?

There was calm within the ruins today. The birds were chirping and flitting about, rabbits were lazily munching upon the grass that sprouted on the once glorious road now nothing more than random stones here and there. Everything was peaceful…but not for long.

Underneath a gently swaying willow that grew in the middle of one of the ruined buildings a loud crackling could be heard as a badly formed portal suddenly appeared and two bodies flew forth from it, rolling along the ground as the portal suddenly collapsed with a loud boom.

One was a woman who, not paying attention to any of her surroundings quickly locked her mercury eyes upon the other body, a man who looked to be dead. Quickly scrambling to her feet she rushed over to him and rolled him onto his back. She had managed to slow the bleeding in the few moments she had before having to throw them through a portal with an unknown destination but he wasn't out of danger yet. She quickly poured as much of her magic into him, healing as quickly as she could. Sweat poured down her face as she tried to keep him alive. She could tell there was a dark magic infecting him as well but she couldn't deal with that now, she had to stabilize him first.

Finally once the bleeding stopped and the wound closed up and the damage to his internal organs repaired she wiped her brow, tossing her long silvery hair over her shoulder. Things seemed to be alright…until his aura started to flicker and die. She felt a trill of panic in her stomach as she looked over him again letting profanity flow from her mouth as she quickly cast another spell to break the cursed magic upon him, hoping that might stabilize him. Unfortunately it didn't help. Seeing no other option she quickly opened her folding fan and activated it so small blades extended from the ends of it and stabbed her hand. The blood looked in her palm, shimmering and sparkling like rubies as she evoked her last resort of blood magic. She drew a glyph in her blood upon his hand and spoke a few soft words before she held the familiar pull of her own life force leaving her and entering this stranger, finally stabilizing his condition. She let out a long sigh and healed her hand, wiping the remaining blood upon the grass.

Now that things had calmed down she took a moment to look at her surroundings, almost instantly recognising where they had landed. The Ancense Ruins. She should have figured it would be near here that they ended up, this is where everything began for her so it was fitting for her to be drawn here, expecially after what she had found out about this place and the past she had missed in those long years asleep.

All the energy she had used was starting to catch up to her now that the adrenaline rush was gone. She managed to summon her belongings from the outpost in the desert with the last of her magic. She let out another sigh of relief that she had managed to get it all. Sliding the backpack under the strangers head she had nothing else she could do but wait for him to wake up… if he ever did…
