Pick declined the offer for tea, "Nah that mushroom tea Cedric made us try still leaves a bad taste in my mouth." Eventually he was persuaded to try this new tea, but it was only marginally better. He didn't quite understand the allure of leaf water, but to each his own.

After a few hours they figured it was time to head back towards the Ancense Mountains. Eliza stocked them up with all the equipment they might need. She even took care of Pick's component pouch. "I need you to be at your best out there. The both of you. Don't you go dying on me."

They assured her they wouldn't and set off again to go rescue Drysl.

[OOC This marks the end of our short stint in Adeluna. If any is still following our story we'll be in the Ancense Ruins. The thread will be an open one named "Exploring the Ruins". We are opening the thread to meet new people. It will have a limit of 4 people so it's easier for everyone.]

Tea wasn't pleased by the situation, but he didn't have time to yell at Pick. The illusionist was in the way of the best route, so Tea pulled Pick in an alley way behind the market place. Yelling can be heard from the illusionist, then three bright explosive light appear simultaneously, "Grah! I'll catch you thief!" yelled the illusionist.

"Pick you keep this up, I might have to put you on a leash." Tea grumbled, they manage to get back into the main avenue without bumping into a crook. "You cause way too much trouble for one elf." Tea said, he was nervous that they would meet more trouble.

They finally make it to Eliza's shop without a hitch, "Tea you could have left a note, I almost thought you left without saying goodbye." Eliza exclaimed seeing him. "Sorry, we thought it would be a quick trip to get groceries." Tea answered, Eliza huffed, "Now you know you don't need to do that, but fine, and I see you have that cowl I made for you." She smiled. Tea was a little surprised, "I know you're not ready to show who you are to the world, but one day they'll truly accept you." Eliza said walking up to Tea giving him a motherly hug. He hugged her back, "Thank you for understanding." He said to her. This seemed to be a past discussion the two had awhile ago.

She finished hugging then announced, "Alright, I'll prepare breakfast for you two, and make your favorite tea." Tea's eyes glisten, "Oolong tea?" he asked, she nodded in response. "Oh you'll love the tea, it is really good." Tea said passionately to Pick.

Pick appeared next to him again.

"I know you said not to, but teleporting is fun! I think I'm almost out of components for it though. I'll have to get more." Pick decided he has probably stolen enough for today, but needed to refill on teleportation material. He had stolen enough money to go shopping so he walked with Tea and bought some food as well.

After a while they passed a component salesman. To Pick's surprise it was the illusionist he saw the day before. Unfortunately however he had been looking through his stolen spell book at the exact moment he caught the illusionist's eye.

"Tea, I'm gonna go." He whispered semi panicked, "I…" the wizard interrupted with, "Hey! Stop that thief!"

Pick leafed through the book, found agility, and frantically cast it. He sped off, but he wasn't used to moving that fast and bowled over several people. The magician suddenly teleported in front of Pick who in turn reflexively cast Replication, and he bolted in 4 different directions. He was having the time of his life. His excitement didn't even die when each version of himself was met with a different version of the wizard. He did however use his last components for his teleport spell and reappeared near Tea.

"It's been nice, let's go back to Eliza's." He said with a goofy grin.

Tea jumped at the sudden appearance of Pick, "Wow! Hey! Be careful where you teleport to, you don't want to teleport into someone, then we got a real mess on our hands." Tea said irritated. "I am gonna go buy some dried meats and fruit, you stick close, so you don't do that again please."

Tea was trying to concentrate on the air as he walked, how it moved, what it did. Tea was having a hard time understanding something he couldn't exactly see, so he looked to his teaching by memory. The temple said in order to understand the air, you must trust it's freedom and take the path of least resistance. But Tea had a hard time also trying to make sure Pick doesn't bite more he can chew, though Tea started to notice something.

Pick's moves seemed to never touch anyone, and even after picking a pocket he almost never turned around, knowing he succeeded. He never stopped moving, and his mind was focused and free from distraction. Tea pondered on this, "Maybe I'll try that." he mumbled. Tea began going into the crowd, he made sure to not hit anyone, but he wasn't going to steal anything. He was doing good but eventually bumped into a man, "Eh watch it!" shouted the man with a raspy voice. Tea was scared for a moment, the cowl's hood was still up, lucky enough, "Sorry excuse me." Tea walked away quickly. Tea notice they were finally in the right area, "Pick we made it, where are you?" Tea shouted.

Pick led the way even though he had no idea where he was going, and anytime Tea would try and give him directions to the marketplace he would just say, "nah it's fine, I'm getting everything I need." With a big smile on his face he moved carefree back and forth between crowds pilfering and pocketing various he either needed or thought he may or may not need in the future. He was finally in his element.

He opened his spell book and attempted to cast a spell. He decided to try out his teleport spell to make it back to Tea, whom he had left far behind at this point. He took the components he had just taken, and made the necessary motions. Suddenly he disappeared, and then reappeared dangerously close to Tea.

"Hey!" He said excitedly, completely unaware that he could have teleported straight into Tea if he had been a little less careful. "I'm getting the hang of this now!" He looked like he was having a blast.

"You say 'we' like I have a part of what you do." Tea said smirking, "But I do want to purchase my own goods, I don't want Eliza to give us her's, it's not fair for her." Tea stretched.

Tea was able to find his robes and a cowl with a hood, this will help make sure no one will see his ears, "I'm just borrowing it." Tea thought. He walked out with Pick, "Alright, there is a market area for fresh food down the street, and don't hurt anyone with the spells." Tea knew that he couldn't stop Pick from casting spells, but at least warning him will give Tea some peace of mind.

The two practiced reading well into morning, and when the sun rose Pick's stomach began to growl. He looked out the window.

"Hey, I'm going to go pick up some groceries. Wanna come? I don't want to bother Eliza more than we already have." He got up and closed the book, "plus I want to try some of these out." He said with a devilish grin.

Author: The_Pasty, Posted: Sat Mar 4, 2017 2:02 PM, Post Subject: [P] Wet and Weary

"Pick, just calm it down with the spells okay, we need a more open and safer environment for practice, and I could teach you how to read if you want." Tea offered.

Tea looked like he could use some sleep, but unfortunately he was wide awake at this point, "I guess we can start now if you want." Tea yawned then grabbed a book knowing Pick's answer. "Read me the first page of this book, that way I can tell how good you are, then we can start from there." Tea stated

Pick grinned, "thank you, I'll put the book away" he pocketed the component pouch as well as he did so.

"Well, just be careful." Said Eliza as she turned to go back to bed. Once he was sure she was gone and out of earshot he laughed silently, and pulled the book out again.

"Oh man, you telling how young I am was the best thing." He said to Tea beaming. "Though it wasn't all an act…" he looked at the book again, "I need to be able to read better."

"Oh you can't get out this being like a child!" Eliza responded still mad, but Tea tapped on her shoulder, she turned around "Yes?" she asked flatly. Tea whispered to her Pick's age, "Oh, oh goodness, well just don't cast spells in my house like you said." Eliza stumbling over her words. "Now look don't cast such high level spells either without proper teachings, it's impressive that you managed to cast with no prior experience, but you can drain yourself quickly." Eliza told Pick.

Eliza walked over too a shelf of trinkets and took a pouch out, it was a nice brown leather pouch with black strings holding it together. She then went to behind the counter filling strange things, closed the pouch and tossed it to Pick, who quickly caught it. "In there are some common components for spells, I am not sure what spells you have so I gave you the basics. Just don't play around with spells in the city streets either, okay?" Eliza said with a playful smirk.

Embarrassed, Pick looked down at his feet. "I was trying to learn magic. I guess I just need more practice. I'm sorry I won't mess with it in your house again." He picked up his book and frowned at it, "if only I could read better." He looked up, "again, I'm sorry. I didn't think I couldn't control it."

Tea woke up with a yawn, he still felt tired, but he couldn't rest, as he got up he couldn't help but groan as he got up. He turned to see Pick wasn't in bed, but his equipment was still set aside next to his bed. "He couldn't have left then." Tea mumbled to himself, he then looked to his equipment, it seemed his robes were gone, he guessed the Eliza took his clothes to wash. Tea thought maybe he could go back to sleep

"PICK!" Tea heard down stairs, it was Eliza's voice!

Tea then ran down stairs not knowing what to expect. He reached the end of the staircase only to see four Picks, three were going wild jumping around and running, and one just confused trying to get the others to stop. Eliza was shouting at Pick angered by this situation, she could tell which Pick to shout at. Before Tea could make himself known, one of the Picks just on his back, this false Pick was patting his head excessively. Tea managed to push him off his back, the Pick hit the floor, "Pick what did you do?!" Tea asked shouting now.

Pick seemed to be flipping through his book, looking for a way to end this, but a Pick grabs the book. It made a random noise at Pick, then looked into the book, it then gave a disturbing smile. It shouted something, nothing happened, each false Pick began to inflate quickly and explode with light, the book hit the floor.

"WHAT THE HELL WHERE YOU THINKING!" Shouted Eliza.

Pick was the first to rise. He was rested. Quietly wandered around the small room with his spell book in hand. He didn't want to wake Tea, but he also wanted some practice casting spells. Pick leafed through the book and chose to practice the agility spell. Boosted speed could make for a clean get away. The spell seemed simple enough, but he had no idea how to start. The spell called for a vocal component. Great. Pick rolled his eyes and took a deep breath. Maybe he didn't need to be that loud? He sent his hands through the variety of motions depicted in the book; he felt silly, but he could almost feel magic swirling around as if his hands were moving it like dust. He then lightly whispered the small incantation as he finished the last hand motion. Nothing happened. The magic faded. He was missing something. He read the book once more, and noticed something he hadn't before: a a material component.

"Damn" he whispered as he read through what was needed, "why do I need licorice root shavings?" Disappointed he moved on to a different spell. His attention landed on a spell named Replication. It required no material component. He made the necessary movements, and once again felt magic moving around him. He whispered the spell as he made his last movement and he felt a pulse of energy wash over him as three Pick duplicates were created.

His eyes widened and he gave a silent cheer. As did his replicants.

Tea chuckled a little, "I would do as she says, she might just throw outside for the night." Tea told Pick unwrapping his hand wraps.

Tea continued to undress and redress into the clean clothes, Tea then laid down on the bed, he reviewed on the day. He then remembered that he needed to start on learning his next element, but what next? "Fire, hmm, then uhh. What did the scrolls say? Oh yeah, Air, it's closes to fire in movement and technique." Tea mumbled to himself. Tea decided to start tomorrow, he was far too tired today, it's hard to stay awake when you haven't properly sleep for three days.

Author: Arcane Trickster, Posted: Fri Mar 3, 2017 11:54 PM, Post Subject: [P] Wet and Weary

Pick didn't bother changing it had been far too long since he had slept properly. He stripped down and flopped onto the bed. It felt wonderful. Much different than what he was used to, but wonderful all the same. The bed almost instantly drifted him off to sleep, but he was able to pry his head off the pillow as Eliza walked in.

"Oh and one more thing…" she paused upon seeing the nude elf. "I'm going to leave, and when I come back you better have those clothes on." She said pointedly.

Tea laughed, he was glad Pick had good optimism, "You know you're more mature then you seem, you take responsibility for your actions, I believe you have some sort of code you follow, and you're admirable." Tea smiled, "Don't think I didn't over hear that conversation you had with Eliza, half-elf I may be but my ears could be as sharp as yours." Tea took a drink of water Eliza poured for them awhile ago. "Thank you Pick, that means a lot." Tea said referring to what Pick said to Eliza.

After awhile Eliza came down and guided the two to the room they will sleep for the night. "Sorry there is only two rooms, mine and this one, but at least I got a bed for each of you, there are clean cloths at the end of the beds for you to rest in." Eliza then looked at Pick, "They're not to keep." She said sternly.

Pick looked up, a smile on his face, "Hey yeah! You're right!" All sembalences of existential crisis seemingly dissipated. He was already far ahead of the other elves. He had a great advantage here and he was glad Tea cared enough to make him feel better.

"Thanks for letting me know that. It means a lot." He said with a warm smile. Pick stood and stretched, "I think I need a place to sleep" he yawned, "I am a growing boy after all" he laughed.

Tea needed to act quick, what could he say, "Uhh, it's okay, elves tend to accomplish much more than most people. I am sure you'll be the greatest their ever."

Though Tea was telling the truth, he didn't want to tell him the more depressing truth of his near immortality. Everyone he has ever known will pass before he does, including himself.

"Look, even some elves will travel at your age, it happens once in awhile, so you could say you're a rare kind." Tea said trying to impress the elf.

Pick's mind was blown, "Y-you're kidding right? My family said I was a grown man. I don't…what? No." Pick had no way of knowing what being an elf meant. Being raised by curious catfolk he had no idea he wasn't actually considered an adult yet, and neither did they.

"There's no way that's true." He put his head in his hands. And mouthed "what?" Once more.

Author: The_Pasty, Posted: Fri Mar 3, 2017 3:30 PM, Post Subject: [P] Wet and Weary

Tea looked up confused, "Is he joking with me?" Tea thought. He looked at Pick who, even though busy with the book, looked quite serious about the question,

"Pick, you're an elf, as I hope you should know already. You will live for hundred of years, and your body may mature at a rate of almost any other race, but your mind matures much slower. So you may be three years younger than me, but you are still young for an elf." Tea explained, he was hoping Pick would look up laughing, getting a kick out of me explaining something he already knows.

Author: Arcane Trickster, Posted: Fri Mar 3, 2017 2:53 PM, Post Subject: [P] Wet and Weary

Pick looked up from his book again, "I'm not that young. Just three years younger than you." He went back to his book and then looked at Tea again, "what do you mean it explains a lot?"

Author: The_Pasty, Posted: Fri Mar 3, 2017 1:58 PM, Post Subject: [P] Wet and Weary

Tea's eyes widen, "Well, I'm 23, but you seem to handle yourself well, for being so young, which also explains a lot actually." Tea couldn't help but laughed a little. Tea was trying wrap his mind around the fact that he was traveling with someone with mind of a child, he was just baffled.

Author: Arcane Trickster, Posted: Fri Mar 3, 2017 1:44 PM, Post Subject: [P] Wet and Weary

Pick looked up from the spellbook he didn't quite understand. He wasn't the best reader, but he was persistent.

"Oh, I'm 20" said Pick, "why? how old are you?"

Pick returned to his book.

As they both walked they could see Tea patiently eating eating his meal. "So, you mentioned that you used fire Tea, you finally learned how to use that 'chi' thing you like so much?" she asked as she sat down. Tea ears perked up, "Oh I thought you would never ask, well I found out in…." Tea story continued and Eliza had a subtle joy as he spoke, as if she missed this experience. Pick already heard the story, so he didn't seemed to care.

Tea calmed down for awhile, "Well, I still have a hard time understanding chi, but I'm glad you are making progress." Eliza responded with a chuckle. She looked out the window, it seemed that dawn was drawing to night, "My it's pretty late now, let me get the guest room prepared." She got up and collected the empty plates, "Thank you Eliza." Tea said, "Oh it's a pleasure." She responded. She was in the kitchen for moment then exited the dining area to upstairs.

Tea was quiet for a moment, he looked at Pick how was taking a chance to read the book. Tea then asked, "How old are you exactly?" he asked curiously.

"Then I'm sure he was an attractive man." Pick smiled, "but this isn't about my looks is it?" Pick said twirling a fork around his fingers.

"This is about what you're doing to that innocent man!" She said nostrils flaring, "if he stays with you you'll both end up in jail or dead! Now, I don't give a rat's ass about you, but if that man spends even one day on the wrong side of some iron bars, the belly of a dragon, or a blade I'm coming for you." Pick grimaced at the mention of a dragon's belly, but quickly regained his composure. She was still talking, but he had lost interest. His face said "I'm listening" but his mind was on the spell book he stole. He couldn't wait to give his newly acquired magic a test run. He should have payed more attention to when the illusionist was explaining how magic worked.

"Hey!" Eliza shouted softly as to not alert Tea, "are you listening to me?"

Pick nodded, "not in the slightest, but I can garuntee you that Tea is a perfectly capable monk who can handle himself. I've seen him fight fiercely and with unheard of bravery. I can respect that you have your concerns for him, but our friend is danger and we plan on getting him back." he looked at Tea, "look at him and tell me he isn't going anyway." She did so and saw that Pick told the truth.

"You don't have to like me" continued Pick, "but please respect Tea enough to make his own decisions." Eliza let out a sigh, "You're right." She said flatly, "well, let's not keep him waiting then." She turned to enter the kitchen again, and Pick placed a trinket back on the shelf. "Just practice." He thought to himself, as he followed Eliza.

After Tea dried off Eliza lead the two to a back room that was a dining area, she told the two to take a seat. She proceed to another room with no door, it looked like a kitchen when you looked in inside. Tea and Pick talked for a bit about what they should find a way to catch up to Cedric, after they realize he is still in the mountains. Before they could make a solid plan Eliza came in with three plate. She set one in front of the two, then found her seat at the table.

Tea looked at the food, it was a slice of beef roast seasoned well with foreign spices, a small baked potato that had already been sliced open and butter in the center, along with a biscuit gently brushed with honey. "Eliza please, don't waste your fine goods on us, and how did you cook this all so fast?" Tea asked. "Now hush, I'm sure you earned the food, and I have been taking magic recently, it really helps around here, and I got so many spell books in stock." She answered. "But now, tell me how was your long days?" Eliza asked.

Tea and Pick took their turn talking about their perspectives of the past two days, they laughed a couple time, Eliza seemed to worry about Tea's foot when he mentioned it, but Tea quickly told it's better now. As the story continued Pick was about to mention the dragons but Tea looked to him quickly, but Pick didn't notice, so he just kept going, though they didn't mention about Pick being a thief yet.

"WHAT!?" Eliza shouted, "Now Eliza-" Tea responded, "Don't you 'Now Eliza' me, you can't fight dragons!" Eliza interrupted. Tea sighed, "We're not going to fight dra-" Tea was interrupted, "Damn right you're not!" Eliza exclaimed. She continued a small tangent how it's a fools errand but Tea had enough, "Eliza! You are not my mother!" Tea stood up interrupting her. Eliza looked shocked, "Y-you're right, you're your own man." She said tearing up. "Eliza, I'm not doing this cause I want to, I am doing this cause someone needs help, and this one is going to get killed in the mountains." Tea said referring to Pick. Eliza laughed, "Okay, I laughed, you got me, may I speak to Pick in private please." she asked Tea. He seemed confused a little, but decided to walk out of the room.

Eliza looked to Pick, with a dagger piercing glare, "Don't think for a minute I don't know what you're about." She said and paused for a moment only to continue, "You have that same look my husband used to have."

"My name's Pick!" He said extending his hand, "it's pleasure to meet you!" He was feeling far more confident now compared to where he was at the Beginning of his journey. He felt as though he had grown exponentially since he left Sarchu Valley. He took a towel from Eliza and began drying himself, "thank you the towel" he said as he tussled his hair with it, "its been a long day." With that he paused, "it's always a long day."

Eliza chuckled, "why don't you boys tell me all about it while I make you some food. You two looked absolutely famished! Follow me." She turned and bustled off.

Pick was ravenous and perked up at the mention of food. He followed closely behind his new favorite host.

"It's a safe heaven for me, like I said earlier, half-elves are not exactly liked around common people." Tea answered, he set his wet gear aside. "I can trust that you wont take here, she is a good friend of mine." Tea stated, though he had a little attitude behind his voice.

After a few short moments, the foot steps came down and Eliza came back with some towels. "Oh! I see you brought a friend, you didn't tell me you had friends." She said said seeing Pick, she gave a big smile to Tea. "Yeah, this one became my friend recently, though he is a bit of a handful." Tea said. "And what is his name?" She asked.

Pick entered the shop and refrained from touching anything by keeping his hands behind his back.

"Nice place, you know it?" He asked Tea.

Tea stood in front of a small but humble building, he was looking up at the slightly worn wooden sign "The Wise Expanse." The sign's letter was a faint blue, with a design of map of the world behind it. Tea hadn't realize that Pick was behind, he was focused on reflecting, but was interrupted by Pick's shouting. He looked to the wood elf and saw his book, he hadn't seen it on him before, then he realize, "Don't tell me, no, oh no you didn't." He said softly, "You know what? Whatever, come inside." He told the thief.

Tea walked in first, the door bell rang as he walked in. The room looked busy with trinkets, tools, books, and other assortment of things. There was a relaxed look on Tea faced when he entered, then a voice of a women appeared, "Oh, a customer how may I he-" the voice moved around until a dark skinned women appeared around the corner. "Tea! Oh even better, how are you doing child?" The lady asked.

She seemed to be around the age of early forties, her eyes were hazel, and looked very well for her age. She stood straight and had a nice green dress, but she looked weary. She was giving a warm smile to Tea, that to one could compare to a mothers welcome.

"Hello Eliza, I am doing fine." Tea responded. Eliza notice Tea's condition, "My! you're all wet, let me go get towels, wait there!" She turned around and you then could hear footsteps rising to the second floor. Tea sighed in relief, "Always too quick to help." he said.

Pick followed his half-elf friend through the city. He had never seen a city before and it gave him quite a culture shock just seeing how many people there were around him, all of them were of different walks of life, and it kept his smile goofy and wide. He slipped away from Tea momentarily and entered a crowd gathered around a street magician. He carried a spell book and was casting illusion spells from it. The crowd was awed by the man's illusory prowess. As was Pick.

The wizard asked for volunteers and Pick's hand shot up. He wanted that spell book. Just think of the possibilities! The wizard called on him and he raced up to the magic man.

The wizard noticed Pick was drenched in water, and eyed him suspiciously. He began to question, but decided to continued with his show instead.

"What's your name son?" He asked the excited elf.

"Pick" responded Pick.

"Well Pick, I'm going to replicate my self in to four distinct versions of myself. It's up to you find the real me!" As he finished his sentence he cast Replication and three copies of himself appeared, "you've got three shots!"

Pick was astonished and chose wrong all three times. The magician sent Pick back into the crowd.

"Thank You everyone! You've been wonderful!" Said the magician. The crowd started to leave and the magician began to pack up his components. Pick walked to the occupied wizard and struck up a conversation. As he spoke he asked questions about magic and how it works. The magician was kind and open. He told Pick that magic was very accessible, but hard to master. Pick wasn't paying attention, but the mage didn't notice. He had left his spell book on a stool he made teleport earlier in the show.

Pick subtly moved the conversation towards the stool. When he was close enough picked up the book and thanked the man for his time. Luckily for him a second fan of the mage's had been waiting to get a word in and immediately began firing off questions. Giving Pick ample time to escape with his new prized possession.

He was able to catch up with Tea by asking people if they've seen a wet person covering his ears walking around. When he had caught up he flashed Tea the book.

"Look what I found!" He said excitedly

Tea pulled himself out of the river, "YOU ARE UNBELIEVABLE!" Tea shouted furiously, he was coughing up water as he got up. "I told you, 'It may low calm, but the current are stronger underneath' But no, 'Oh it can't be that bad, just need to wash off' you said, then you just jump!" Tea sat down taking a breath. He remembered Pick being pulled by the river, Tea tried to hold on to a tree branch and use his bo staff for Pick to grab. Pick did grab it, but the branch wasn't as sturdy as Tea thought.

He then looked up, and realize where he was, Adeluna City. Tea immediately covered his ears, fearing the people would see them. Good thing though his hair had grew longer sense the last time he was here, his hair was able to cover his slightly pointed ears. There were a lot of eyes on the two, not only the unusual occurrence of men rising from the river, but also Tea's yelling. "We better hurry, I don't want to be here long." Tea looked around swiftly to find where he was, "Okay, I know a place nearby." Tea began walking swiftly looking behind to know was still following him.

Pick hauled himself out of the river. He looked around dripping wet and saw a vast expanse of both people and buildings. He had finally arrived in Adeluna City. He teared up a bit. He had made it. Too bad he still had a job to do. Drysl was in trouble, and he needed to do his best to save the old coot. "Well, that could have been much worse." He said to Tea, "just a little detour is all, and I'm clean again!" He beamed. He had already been clean enough before he jumped in the river that cut through the mountains, but the smell of dragon vomit had been getting to him. He didn't mean to take Tea with him it just sort of happened. They had traversing the Ancense Mountains tracking the dragons who had stolen their friend.

Pick didn't expect the current to be as strong as it was, but it was too late to change that.

"We might need better equipment anyway." He said with a smile.
