There were legends of grotesque creatures that lurked just beyond the realm of the living. Such beings were malformed and misshapen, terrible and fearsome. They were haroled as the bringer of death, the end of the world. Miyuki Sayuri did not bat an eye at the first set of rumors that circulated. She knew what must be done, knew that all hands were required for the defense of the world. If Revaliir fell, how long would it take to reach home?

She grumbled as she marched towards the front lines. Her witchwood cuirass was recently acquired. The crafter promised her fire-resistant armor with great protection from various attacks. It would be lighter than chainmail. What the crafter had not mentioned was it was made with wood. Upon first seeing it, Miyuki chastised the crafter for stealing her coin and providing her with a wooden prop painted blue and purple, but he stood by his word and insisted she tested it before they attempted to smooth things over.

When she put it on, the color instantly turned black, matching the black clothing she wore underneath. It was more cumbersome than she would prefer, but still gave the semblance of serviceability. On her back was her sais holster, her left hip held her katana sheath. Shuriken lay hidden amongst her person, but what stood out most was a special housing strapped to her right thigh. From her knee to her hip was a single arrow of dark metal and purple fletching. Miyuki carried no bow of any kind to launch her projectile, yet her head was high with confidence.

The assassin saw no need for herself to be on the front lines. She did not do so well with too many people around her. Surely a well-trained squadron of men would fare a lot better than she would out there. Especially since her specialty was ranged combat. Miyuki found a great need in ensuring the injured were safely escorted back to camp for treatment. Many would get assaulted by some six-legged creatures. There were also some that were attacked by the very people escorting them to safety. She was at a loss as to how to discern friend from foe amongst them all.
