I'm taking over for the User Submitted Lore. I've added the Butterfly Vine + The Night's Kiss

I'll come up with prompts and examples here soon! We're very busy in the backend of rev but we haven't forgotten about this!

The Butterfly Vine is awesome!  I'm going to leave this open until Sunday, just in case you have any other cool ideas.

I had one! I totally forgot this was due today.

Butterfly Vine: Also known as the Gossamer-Wing Vine, this plant is named for its strange leaves. They are pale and semi-transparent, grouped together in pairs so they look much like butterflies resting on the vine. They are a parasitic plant, most commonly feeding off of trees. However, they do not kill the tree, only slow its growth.

The leaves are perfectly soft when touched with dry hands, but if they come into contact with any warm, wet surface, they will release hundreds of little spores that will burrow into the wet surface and sprout many vines there. They can grow on almost anything alive, including places without sunlight, so they are exceedingly dangerous if eaten.

They can be safely collected with gloves and a face mask, and are worth a lot of money if retrieved. They are sold as decorations in Wyllmochvar, and as poisons on the black market. However, many superstitious explorers consider them bad luck, and will refuse to have anything to do with them.

If people need to have a better idea for a format here's what I was working on. I think it would be great if we could start a group to work on areas. That way we can have it all under the person who writes it. Also, it helps not to have all the burden on one person. We could have a subsection in the Discord for wiki writing. That's if people think that is a good idea or are interested. I would love to fill the wiki's flora out more.

Sarut de Noapte: Named in the native tongue of Arri the proper name for these flowers is Night’s Kiss. They are a group of nocturnal flowers that grow in the deep caverns under Sularia. These flowers grow on the cavern walls much like mushrooms. This is the only place they grow unless cared for consistently since they leech the magic that flows deep within Arri’s lands. They are five to eight inches long going from petal to petal across. There is no stem nor leaves but vines that seep deep into the rock walls of the underground caverns.

The petals are deep violet that fades into a light magenta at the end of the petals. The center of the flower or stamen/pistil is made of long glowing bluish colored strands. They move as if they have a mind of their own or if a breeze is gently rocking them.  The anther of this flower produces a heavy sap like substance that when farmed can create a dangerous fast acting poison. Though it should be noted that the entire flower is poisonous but the sap is the most dangerous part of this flower.

They call it Night’s Kiss because of how soft the petals are, much like a woman’s lips, and most of the time if encountered death occurs at night, suggesting that the power of the moons has something to do with the quickening of the poison it has.

Academic places have often cultivated them within rooms of sealed magic so they could be studied more efficiently and safely. The Academy of Sularia has one of the largest collections of this species due to how close they are to where they grow.

It is definitely the first one, I'm excited to see what everyone comes up with.  My only requirement is that the plant is somehow toxic.  It doesn't have to be deadly, just some kind of nasty effect.

The first one would be nifty for a fantasy setting. That's what I love to do as well.

If you'd like to help up flesh out the world, here's your chance!  I will be posting a new lore prompt every two weeks for submissions to add to the wiki.  The prompt for 2/19 is Poisonous Plants of Revaliir.  These plants can be found in any region.  I will be leaving this prompt up for 2 weeks before posting the next one.

I've posted an example here that you can work from, but feel free to use your own format! The essentials we need are where it grows, some details for the appearance, possible names, and what it does.

The mother-in-law plant from the Laeto Rainforest is a rather curious plant. Some people here in Egjora keep it as a houseplant, as it is rather attractive with striped leaves in multiple hues. The elvish name for it translates to swift silence, while the humans in Mamlak simply call it the word for quiet. Its sap has the ability to temporary cause muteness when ingested, hence the many names.
