As Simone recounted her tale, Lewis stroked her hair. For a moment, he wondered what it would have been like if Edwin had found a way to break the curse, and they could have been happy together. He wondered, then, where he might have been. After all, it was because of Simone that he had grown as a person.

Simone looked up at him as he had these thoughts, and bapped him on the nose. “It doesn’t matter what could have been,” she said. “It only matters what it.”

Lewis looked down at her, a little surprised. “Did you just…” His furrowed brow changed to a smile. “I think the tickle monster has one more victim to go…” He grabbed at Simone’s sides, starting to tickle her as he pinned her down.

Simone didn’t fight like their daughter did and she found herself snuggled into Lewis. “You are my everything to… Even if sometimes I don’t act like it. I’m sorry that it took so long for me to talk to you. I’m still defending myself and I shouldn’t be with you… Though I am glad that you know my boundaries, unlike Xeik… Though without him crossing that line I don’t know how long these conversations would take.”

She put her hand in his. “You know it wasn’t all bad… At the end of the imprisonment… Edwin killed the people who tortured me. Come to find out it was a small-time dungeon the Fey Lord had. Edwin was one of the guards but he never came into my cell but once when he was curious what he was guarding. Now that I think about it… He probably knew who I was from Llywellyn throwing his massive bitch fit trying to find me.”

She gave a smile, “He stayed with me for a long time until he died. We were always on the move. We did odd jobs. From working at traveling fairs to… just the weirdest shit. I think at one point I was waitressing for a tavern.” Simone laughed a bit. “He never let me forget who I was. He kept a journal that he would let me read. Sometimes I didn’t make it through reading it. He wasn’t a very smart man. Anyways, we had a few children. Amelia you would have loved. Gods she was spunky like Lila. Constantly climbing and getting in trouble. Beginning to think Lila got it from me,” she said it as a joke. “Children were hard though so there was only one or two… I can’t remember. Because we were always on the run. Alvaro found me the day he died. I just thought… a good happy tale would be good to hear in the mix of it all.”

As each of the children met their fate with the tickle monster, Simone took them upstairs and tucked them in to sleep. Of course, Lila was fighting her hardest against it, coming back downstairs by portal in order to play. It was adorable the way she tried to fight against the sleep that she was destined for. Lewis took a hold of her, cradling and rocking her as he started up the stairs.

“Once upon a time…”

Lila frumped, but within moments of hearing the story, her tired eyes closed, and she drifted off to sleep. After tucking her in, Lewis came back downstairs, stoking the flames of the fireplace. He motioned for Simone to sit next to him on the couch.

“We don’t have to talk anymore tonight, Simone…” Lewis said. “But..I want you to know that you are my everything. I’m sure the kids are pretty close to feeling that as well…”

Simone held Everett and Llynette in her arms as they watched Alshaya fight for what could have been her life with the way she was laughing. “Alright, you heard your daddy. Off to bed.” She kissed both of their heads. They groaned at her and she hugged them tightly. “Bed or the tickle monster is going to get you next.”

Lewis let Shaya go as Simone threw Everett to him. Everett’s laughter filled the air as he got his turn with the tickle monster. Llynette was giggling and she waited for her turn before they took the kids up to tuck them in.

Simone opened the room to the youngest three’s room and put her hand on her hip. “What do you think you are doing.”

“Playing…” Lila looked up and smiled at them. She was on the floor with some toys.

“You and your escaping.” She picked Lila up and kissed the top of her head. “Daddy… Do you want to read to Lila? Maybe it will tucker her out.” Lila yawned a bit and she looked like she was on the cusp of sleep.

“No… play…” She whined a bit with tears in the corner of her eyes.

“No… You are definitely tired sweetie. You need sleep. Let Daddy read to you then we can play in the morning.”

In a way, it was childish to do such a thing to someone’s house. If Lewis had been like his young self, he would have scoffed at the idea, and had recommended a dagger in the back as a solution. But this was not the old Lewis. This was the one that Simone had helped along and changed into a better man, and this Lewis was all for the childish prank.

Lewis helped the other children with the lower set of windows, and once the deed was done, they escaped back to the castle, all of them laughing at the act of rebellion they had committed. Lewis was smiling, laying next to Simone as the children rested on each of them.

“No Alshaya,” Lewis said, laughing. “We only do that to bad people. Rhenakos…he’s a good man, despite it all…” He ruffled Alshaya’s hair. She was growing up so quickly. “All right, it’s time for bed you all.” That got a collective groan from the kids. “You all got a special treat tonight, but it’s bedddtiimmmeeee!” He started to tickle Alshaya, who shrieked and tried to escape, her laughter filling the air.

Simone smirked a bit and scooped Llynette into her arms. “You all have each other too. Who else does Pearl have? No one. So she takes it out on your guys. I have an idea though. I think it would be fun but you all have to be very, very quiet.” She kissed the top of Llynette’s head. “When I got mad at the stable boy for picking on me when I was a child… Your uncle Llywellyn showed me how to do something quite nasty. We took cakes of soap and we soaped his windows. It took days for them to get it off. It was the perfect revenge.”

Shaya’s eyes got huge. “Can we Daddy?” She got all excited.

“That means Shaya. You can’t tell anyone but Uncle Llywellyn or Uncle Xeik that we did it. Okay?”

Shaya looked a bit sheepish, “CAN WE DADDY?!”

Lewis looked at Simone, and then to Alshaya. "Not a word. You promise? This isn't like Rex. This could get you in a LOT of trouble…"

“NOT A WORD DADDY I PROMISE ON MY… MOTHER’S… No…”

“It’s okay Shaya we get it,” Simone laughed. “Okay let’s go. I can fly you up to the second story. It’s going to be a late-night kids… Hey, Walter can you get all the soap cakes in the house we’re not using… We need them for a… Porject… But it’s a secret project.”

“Madam your secret is safe with me.”

“Good…”

It was late in the night when Simone, Lewis, and all the kids but the youngest three went out. Corrine and Jules were busy soaping up one-half of the windows. The older kids were helping the other younger ones.

Simone and Lewis helped Alshaya and Everett get Pearl’s bedroom window. It took them a good hour to get all the windows on the large house. But by the time they all got back to the house they were laughing and laying on the floor together. “That was fun!” Alshaya yelled. “Can we go soap Uncle Rhenakos’s house too?!”

As all of the children gathered around Simone, Lewis took a step back, almost wishing he could save this moment in a painting. He wondered what it would cost to have a portrait of this made, and saved the idea in the back of his mind for later. As Alshaya spoke of what Pearl had said, though, he about said something, but Simone beat him out.

“She’s not wrong,” Lewis said with a half smile. “Your mother and I talk all the time. We just don’t like letting people know.” He tapped his head. “It’s all in here…all about how much we love each other. And how much we love you little deviants,” he said as he scooped Alshaya and Everett into his arms. “Besides…I’m pretty sure Pearl has little room to talk. Her parents are together for show only…the father uses heavy cologne to mask the smell of another…” He paused, realizing the kids probably didn’t need to hear all of the details.

“The point is…I’m sure that Pearl is acting out because she’s quite jealous of you all…”

Simone felt so much better talking about it and feeling his love for her grow. She gripped his hand and she kept going for as long as she could. There was a nod from her as he said they could continue later. She kissed him back and snuggled close to him for a moment.

“I think… that would be a good idea. I like that idea.” She smiled as she ran the thoughts across her head. “I’ll go over it with Xeik so we can make sure it happens seamlessly.” They got out of the bath and she changed into her nightgown early and put on her robe. They joined the kids.

“Mama you’ve been crying,” Alshaya spoke up and all the kids noticed. Before long they were all hugging her and even the twins were grunting to be brought to her.

“Oh all of my loves,” She hugged them all and kissed each of them. “Daddy and I were just talking about stuff that we’ve needed to for a while.”

“Are you going to split up and get a divorce? Pearl Peterson says her mom and friends say that you guys don’t like each other cause you don’t talk to each other.” Shaya got scared.

“Pearl Peterson’s mother can shut the fuck up,” Simone spoke before she could censor herself. She blushed a bit and laughed. “Daddy and I would never split up or divorce. People just don’t see us like how you all see us.”

Once Simone was ready to start talking, Lewis moved to the opposite side of the bath, so he could look at Simone and give her his full attention. Whatever she had to say, it was important, and he wanted to make sure she was being heard. He had waited a long time for her to finally open up about it all. He would wait until the end to give his own opinions…if she wanted them.

She started with the imprisonment, the time when she was tortured and raped on a regular basis. That was, perhaps, the hardest thing to start with, and at once Lewis clenched his fist. It was hard to hear…not because he thought of Simone less, but more because he had no way to erase that past of hers. But, he stayed quiet, and let her know that he was paying attention.

Simone was strong at the start, but as she started to tell it, her voice wavered. At one point, her voice cracked, and she had to stop. Tears started to stream down her face, and she had to take a moment before she continued. At this, Lewis did move closer, and took her hand, encouraging her to continue. She smiled at that.

The resonance was all over the place. Simone was a mix of pain, sorrow, and the tiniest bit of relief that Lewis was still there. From Lewis was concern, hatred, and helplessness that he couldn’t help her…but underneath it all, supporting it, was love. Not once did Simone feel that Lewis wanted her to stop, or to leave. Not once did she feel his love for her waver. If anything, it grew stronger.

Finally, though, she finished the period of her imprisonment.

“I want to keep going,” she said after a moment of silence. “But…the children…”

Lewis nodded. “We can continue later,” he said. “But…Simone..thank you.” He leaned over and kissed her. She could tell that he wanted to smile at her, but the gravity of what she had told him was weighing on him. “I knew it was bad…but I never knew it was this bad. I…don’t have the words to make it go away. There’s nothing I can do to make it disappear…but I’m here for you. I always will be…”

He smiled. “And…I’ve thought about it. Simone…the Guide and the younger Simone are both you. Even if they…became one with you, or whatever it is…they would still be there. In here…” He poked at her chest. “Even now…there are pieces of them that come out in the way you smile…but I’m sure that if they were all there, you’d feel more at ease…”

Simone got close to Lewis and kissed him. “Because Xeik decided to see just how far the rabbit hole went to my soul. He had no idea what he would find… He went farther than you’ve ever dream to.”

She looked at the other two of her. “He found these two and was confused about them… We have a lot to talk about. I’m taking a bath… Want to come to me?”

“Gladly, give me a moment to get there,” Lewis said to her.

She waited in the tub and made room for him. She snuggled up to him and kissed his neck. “I want… To tell you everything. Are you ready for that? It doesn’t have to be all at once… You can stop me when you’ve heard too much. We can pick it up another day. It’s a lot… Also, Xeik thinks it would be best if I combined with the other Simones… but I didn’t know how you would feel about losing them.”

Xeik smiled at Simone. She was trying her hardest, and it showed.

“I wish there was a way to reassure you, Simone, but there isn't’. Lewis may have his frustrations at the past coming back, but he hasn’t hesitated once to go after you. Every time he’s jumped to action…tearing the world apart to find you. But it’s not just your past. Lewis’ past came back to bite him as well…you’re not alone, Simone. The two of you have a lot of history, and more history to make down the road. It won’t ever be easy, but I don’t see Lewis ever giving up.”

Xeik flickered for a moment, and sighed. “Well…I expect you have a lot to talk about with Lewis. I promise you, Simone…this will all work out for the best…” His visage vanished, and was replaced with Lewis.

As the assassin was much more skilled than Xeik in the resonance, he looked at Simone curiously. “We’re deep in here…and…why am I in the shed?” He only had questions for Simone and what Xeik had been doing. “Care to explain?” He didn’t seem mad, just…very confused.

Simone struggled with what he said for a moment and nodded, “We’ll discuss it with Lewis…” He had always said ‘Simone is Simone’ but would he be okay with losing them? Technically, they would still be there…

“I’m always scared I’m going to need them again for whatever reason. Things happen to us all the time. Just like how Lewis gets tired of my past coming to haunt us… so do I Xeik. I get scared that I’ll get taken away and damaged. Lewis has saved me every time it’s happened…”

“I’d be okay with it,” the little guide spoke.

“Me too! If it will help!”

Simone looked at a candle present nearby and then at Xeik, “It’s almost time. Is there anything else you wanted to talk about or find out about the resonance before Lewis takes back over?”

Xeik sighed. Simone was doing quite well, but she still had a long way to go. Her self doubt was something that was hard to overcome, and he had little room to blame her. He had lost himself in a similar form of doubt, and had nearly paid the ultimate price for it. He closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. There had to be a solution for this, even if it was one that needed work.

“Well…I have an idea,” Xeik said as he opened his eyes. “But it would take the three of you agreeing, and…I assume Lewis would need to agree as well.” He wondered if they would accept his solution. “What if…the three of you became one again? Simone…the split you made was to protect yourself. Is the reason that they exist because you’re still scared that you need them? By merging into one again…that would be accepting that you don’t need to hide behind them anymore, and that you can trust yourself wholly. But that means that you need to work on your self image. See yourself as the whole package…”

“See yourself like Lewis sees you,” he said after a moment. “Does that make sense?”

The younger Simone lightly slapped the real one upside the head. “What he said! You can’t keep holding yourself back.”

“It’s not about holding myself back. I created the different parts of me a long time ago. Wouldn’t it make sense that I view them as separate from myself? Even if they are not?” She crossed her arms. “It’s just going to take a while to stop thinking like that… Isn’t that the solution? It’s not as easy as it sounds.”

She ruffled her own hair and sighed a bit. “I’m at a loss what to do with myself. Some days I just feel lost because I haven’t lived in so long. The last ten years or so have been great but they don’t make up for everything I’ve been forced to sit through and idly watch. It's just a process… which clearly I am struggling in.”

Xeik looked at the two younger versions of Simone, and then back to Simone. He let out a sigh. “This is going to sound unprofessional but…Simone. You said yourself that they’re a part of you…it doesn’t matter that he fell for them first. They’re a part of you, and he fell for you.” He had heard the major points from Angela, and basically knew this, but he didn’t realize that Simone was dwelling on it, even after all this time. The healer definitely had his work cut out for him.

“You know how many times he’s said that stupid phrase to me? How is it… ‘Simone is Simone.’ You three act differently, but deep down, you all three are Simone, are you not? All three aspects of the same person. That’s the way he sees it, and always has. It’s not that any of you came first, or last…it’s not like one is better than the other. It’s all you.”

Simone tilted her head and sighed a bit, “I can answer now. Since these two are pressuring me into it but they are right it is good for us.”

The memories were in her head and she closed her eyes, “Do you know what it's like watching from the inside out and not being able to do anything about it until moments before your death? I wasn’t always the one in control… She was.” She pointed to the younger Simone. “It was her and the Guide who fell in love with Lewis, not me. That didn’t come until later. I hated him. I really did but he grew as a person. He knows all of this from me. The last week before he killed me was the only time I ever got to spend with Lewis before he killed me. The year we were together? He wasn’t with me he was with her.”

There was a breath, “We were strangers but also not. The resonance was weak at that point so I felt the pull. I loved him before I knew it. Before that week but I can’t tell you when. But it wasn’t me he first fell in love with.”

Xeik nodded as the two other Simone’s pressured herself into showing Lewis the memories. It was amusing to watch, admittedly. “Hope and sanity indeed…” He smiled. “You three really are special….”

As to Simone’s question about if Xeik had more to ask. That was going to be hard. “I, orf course, have plenty of questions, Simone. But I can’t pressure you into telling me. I don’t want to force you…I want you to tell me when you’re ready.” He thought for a moment as he tried to phrase the question right. “Those memories of the younger Lewis… he treated you a lot differently than he does now. Is that why you’re so worried to open up to him?”

Simone was glaring at the girls but sighed. “I don’t like to think about it Xeik. Those were the first seven years of my imprisonment to the Fey Lord. I’ve told both of you about it but not the context of it.”

She let out a sigh and the girls got brave.

“You need to tell Lewlew! He won’t judge you!”

“Or love you any less! He loves all of you! Even us!”

Simone looked at the two of them, “Why are you two always so right?”

“Because we’re not scared of letting our Lewlew in!” The guide yelled and nodded to the younger one.

“That trusting nature the two of you have…”

“He’s our Lewlew… He would never use it to hurt us.”

Simone made a face knowing they were right. “Fine… Fine… I will do more… I will show him.”

“Promise?”

“I… promise.” Simone looked a bit hurt to be ganged upon. “You must have other questions for me after seeing all that?” She looked at Xeik.

Xeik was dragged out of the memory, and now face to face with the real Simone. The other two were behind her, looking sheepish as though they had been failures in guarding the dark place.

“Well…that’s something you haven’t shared,” Xeik said as he looked at her. “I can understand if you weren’t ready for it, but…” He thought for a moment. “You haven’t shown that to Lewis, have you.” It wasn’t a question. He knew very well that she had hidden those painful memories. “You can’t bear the thought of them either…how could you share them.” He sighed. “Just from what I saw…it seemed very painful…not just the physical pain, either…”

The healer sighed. “Well…I won’t force you to share it but…if I were you, I’d consider at least talking about it. If not with me, then Lewis. Hell…even Angela. At least someone you trust…” There it was again…that word. Trust.

Simone was bursting into tears immediately at the start of the memory. “Lewis… Angela told me… She told me she couldn’t fix me.” The amount of regret that was forming and the fear of being abandoned because of it. It was the darkest shadow swirling in her.

“I want to start an orphanage.” Lewis immediately told her and hugged her. “We can adopt as many kids as we want.”

“All the babies?”

“Yes…” Lewis was clearing her tears and gave her a loving kiss to the forehead. Children were her one weakness.

Something happened though with the darkness. It swirled around him as another door seemed to open. It was colder, lonelier… It was almost like ice. Simone was shivering. Her hands and legs were chained to the wall. She looked weak and malnourished.

“It’s that time again princess…” A man came in with a whip and undoing his pants. “If you fight… You know what happens.”

“Fuck you,” Simone spit at him. Simone was immediately whipped against her thighs. It went deep as the blood came out. Her screaming filled his ears as she was in pain. “This is nothing!” She spit again at the man.

“You shouldn’t be here Xeik…” It was Simone as he was forced out.

Xeik rolled his eyes at how immature both of them were being, but then remembered that this was all in the past. They had both grown up so much from that point, and it almost made Xeik feel proud of them. But, the memories shifted once more to the day where Simone was killed.

From Simone’s point of view, there were a myriad of emotions swirling in her heart. A longing for release mixed with the fear of the unknown. She was happy that it was finally going to be over, but saddened because of the feelings in her heart, the love she felt for Lewis. As the sun rose, Simone’s throat was slit, and the life she held was released…and then nothing.

“So…that was supposed to be the end of it all,” Xeik said. “But then Lewis brought her back. But…the way Angela set the spell up…she had to have wanted to come back. There were feelings of regret for letting go so easily. And feelings of guilt for making Lewis work to bring her back…” He sighed. “But that was his choice too. He shared that burden…he regretted not stopping you. Even I know that.”

The memories swirled again, and they were in front of the Terrowin Castle, only it seemed barren and run down. Xeik looked at it curiously. Raile was showing them around, trying to make the sale, and Lewis was talking to her about starting a family.

Simone had a grumpy look on her face, “You can’t just leave like that!”

“Why not?”

“It’s rude and unfair,” Simone commented.

“Well, I’m done.”

“Well, I am not,” She grabbed his wrist and forced him under her. She was sitting on his chest. “You can’t just come here in and take what you want then leave me. I won’t take that from you!!”

“You are being awfully bratty…” Lewis glared up at her.

“BECAUSE YOU ARE MAKING ME FEEL BRATTY!” Simone yelled at him before forcing a kiss on him. This obviously caused something as Lewis threw her under him again. “No,” She wrestled with him. “Stay put.” Her voice was like a whisper.

The memory went forward and she was on top of Lewis at the end, “See? Wasn’t so bad…”

“Can I get up now?”

“UGH, you are fucking impossible.” Simone rolled off. “Go away.”

Some time passed before the door to Simone’s room opened up. She could feel Lewis’ eyes on her, and she looked to the door to see him staring down at her.

“W-what!?” she said, flustered.

“Just…” Lewis glanced away. “I…”

“You what,” Simone said back, covering herself as she realized that he had been staring before looking away.

“…just…undress.”

“Un….dress…” Simone blushed, and let the blanket drop. “What…if I said no…”

Lewis looked at her, frustrated. “Then I’ll just cut it off you! All right? I’m just…feeling…”

Simone smirked. It was strange seeing Lewis like this…it was a huge change from the way that he normally acted. In fact, it was almost cute. “Well…then no.” She stuck her tongue out at him. That prompted Lewis to draw a dagger, and pounce, wrestling Simone down and cutting her dress loose.

At this point, Xeik turned away. “Not…something I really need to see…” Luckily, the memory seemed to flash forward, and Lewis was starting to get of the bed, having finished.

“…thanks,” he said as he started to get out of the bed.

Lewis led Simone away with a rope tied around her, “You can’t go into town like this. Your clothes are falling off…” He put his shroud around her and laughed. “You look ridiculous.” Simone pouted at him. “Fall behind I’m killing you. Speak and I’m killing you. You get the picture.”

The scene cut again. “Lady Angela said that we should be able to help my condition right?” Simone looked at Lewis. “Right? Lewis…” Lewis was reading a book.

“Did I say you could call my name?” The assassin said coldly to the cutely dressed Simone. Simone once more pouted.

“Fine…” She headed up to her room and changed into her nightdress before snuggling into bed. Her room was hardly bare with enough things that Lewis had certainly got her for her to stop complaining.

Xeik was thrown off at first, and almost yelled. Once he realized what this was, though, his eyes widened. A memory. This must have been when Lewis and Simone had first met. They were both so young and Lewis still had the eyes of a cold blooded killer with nothing but the pain he carried.

“Well…this is something…” Xeik crossed his arms again and smirked. “Is this here because she fears that the old Lewis will come back? Or is this being used to guilt her…that Lewis endured this curse for her sake? “WAIT!” They yelled but there was a boundary that they wouldn’t cross. “Well… Simone might be mad at us…”

“Maybe… or maybe it will help us,” the younger Simone said with hope.

The first thing that opened up was a scene in front of Xeik. “What the fuck,” Lewis said in front of him as a terrified Simone laid below him.

“Who are you?” Her voice was shaky.

Lewis took his blade and slit her throat. Soon the dark magic that once held her life activated and threw them off. Lewis looked to be in a daze. “Who are you?! Where is that woman from before?!”

“I– I’m… I’m Simone Auclair…”

“You yell and I’m going to kill you.” Lewis started to gag her and cut off some of her hair before shoving her into a bush.

“Her…hope and sanity?” Xeik looked at the two with curiosity. “A split personality in order to save herself? I heard that it was possible, but I’ve not seen it.” He looked them over again, “So that’s how she survived that long. Interesting..” He glanced over to the dark place of Simone’s mind. “And what is over there, then? The despair?”

Xeik crossed his arms. Lewis had tried to go there, but almost didn’t survive. Did that mean that the resonance wouldn’t work? Or was it a mental thing? “Well…as the Divine Mender, I have no real choice but to investigate.” He glanced to the other two Simone’s and smirked. “Catch me if you can!” Mana flooded through him, and he dashed towards the darkness, and let it swallow him whole.

“Well…this is quite interesting,” Xeik said as the pure darkness swirled around him. “All right then, Simone…it’s time for a therapy session!”

The Simones looked at each other and started to whisper to each other. The guide lowered her broom and before long she was staring at Xeik. “We know who you are!” They were blushing and twirling their hair, “I think…”

They looked concerned for Lewis almost immediately. “We’re parts of Simone. I’m the Guide… Her hope… This Simone is her sanity. The Simone that Lewis first met.”

The younger Simone tilted her head at Xeik, “Should you be here? I feel like… Lewlew doesn’t even come here.”

“I don’t see why not. We never have visitors. Just avoid the dark place… Lewlew almost died in there…” The Guide spoke. “But he was merely human with no magic…”

Xeik was caught off guard by the sudden appearance of two, very different versions of Simone. The first one thwacked him with a broom, which in all honestly made absolutely no sense. How the hell was he being smacked with a broom in Simone’s mind? It made no sense!

“It’s me, Xeik!” he said, wondering if they even knew who he was. And what were they calling Lewis? Lewlew? If he weren’t being assaulted, he would have laughed. “I’m Xeik! Lewis and I accidentally switched bodies for the day!” It sounded like a crazy and ludicrous thing, but that was really what happened. He wondered, though, if the two mystery Simone’s would understand or not.

His adventure into her mind was fruitful as he found all the doors accessible to him. Normally, Lewis was respectful of the boundaries because he knew what it was but Simone didn’t think of it before Xeik was already in. Not that she realized he was since they were one.

However, someone else or rather two people noticed he was there.

“MY LEWLEW!!!” A cute little Simone came bounding out of a happy part of Simone’s mind. “YOU AREN'T MY LEWLEW!” A broom came out of nowhere and she started to smack him. “SIMONE, THERE’S AN IMPOSTER AFOOT!”

A properly dressed Simone came out of another door. “Who are you?! WHERE IS OUR LEWLEW?!” The Guide was in a little flower dress while the younger Simone was in a fancy dress.

"Should we throw him out?" The guide looked at the little Simone.

"We should interrogate how he got here!"

“They are,” Xeik said aloud. He realized that he spoke out instead of thinking it, and when the kids looked at him, he told them that Simone had called the two of them good kids, and he had agreed. He ruffled the boy’s hair, and smiled at Corrine’s drawing, noting how well done it was.

The rest of their time went by without a fuss, and soon it was the next set of turns for the kids. Aside from a minor few issues, Xeik did well, and even had Lewis stop by for a quick check up before running back to take care of Raine, who evidently was running amok as always. When Lewis arrived, though, there was a flood of emotion through the resonance that almost caused Xeik to black out. It was insane the amount of love that she held for that man, and when she heard that though the resonance, she smiled.

“Of course,” Simone said happily. “I don’t know what I would do without him….” Xeik could tell that it wasn’t a lie.

After all of the kids had their time, Simone excused herself to go relax and take a bath. Xeik was flustered at first, but Simone assured him that she could block out the superficial parts of the resonance like she and Lewis normally did. Once he realized this, Xeik was much more okay with the thought, and toolkit upon himself to investigate the grapes that Lewis was working on.

It didn’t take Xeik long to check over the fields, and he found himself quite bored. “So this is what it’s like…relaxing.” He took a deep breath, and let it out. “I hate it…” He walked around, trying to find something to do, and ended up in the shed, reorganizing the tools and supplies. That didn’t last long, and he let out another heavy sigh. He sat down in the shed, and closed his eyes. Just relax…

But there was something there. It was hard to describe…it was like a string that he wanted to pull, or a door that he wanted to open. Xeik could feel it…a place in Simone’s mind. Was this a part of the resonance too? Curiously, he prodded at it. There was no response from Simone. Was it something she was okay with, or was it something she couldn’t feel? He wondered, and pushed through.

“What…is this place?” he said aloud. It was…colorful. There were places and thoughts all around him, with emotions of all different types. There was one place, though, that was dark, a pitch black that seemed devoid of any semblance of emotion past despair. “Is that…the trauma?” He pushed deeper towards the black…

“Maybe this will help…”

“That doesn’t mean we’ll buy her a tiger.”

“Oh..” Jules nodded that Corrine was allowed to like tigers and her mood improved.

He asked Lewis to help him protect Corrine. For him, it’s important to learn. Plus in our household, something bad is always happening so it’s a good thing they know how to defend themselves.

Simone was almost done with hers as she was putting in finer detail. She was a fan of the arts so she was pretty good.

Corrine’s actually looked pretty good too as Simone helped her technique. She definitely had talent and Simone wanted to help it. They are such good kids.

It was really impressive at how much the resonance helped with aiding Xeik as he started the painting. It wasn’t as if they were sharing the talent, per say, but more that the talent was being shown, and Xeik was doing his best to copy it. It was like having all of the mental experience, but none of the muscle memory or physical experience to back it up.

“Tigers are quite exciting creatures,” Xeik said as he finished up the basic outline of the cat he was drawing. “Fierce and powerful hunters, but they can also be quite lazy.” This was a random thing he remembered reading a while back. “Jules, Corrine is allowed to have large favorite animals. It’s not like you’re going to get one as a pet.” At least, he hoped not.

When Jules asked about throwing daggers, Xeik was surprised that Simone was so willing to let the boy learn. “Of course,” Xeik replied. Is it really necessary, though? His pacifism was showing through. These kids were loved and had no need for the talent, unlike he and Lewis. It bothered him a little bit, but these weren’t his kids.

“Ah, there we go…” Xeik said as he started on the smaller details. Despite his own lack of talent, he wasn’t doing too badly based on Simone’s skill. “What about you two? What do yours look like?”

Jules held up his own, which was a crudely drawn, grey cat. There was promise in his work, but it was definitely done by a child. It did, at least, look like an actual cat.

“Ahhh, yes because his sister loved cats.” Corrine showed Xeik the cats in the pictures as Simone smirked.

“I think tigers are my favorite animal!” Corrine yelled.

“Tigers are too big for you Corrine…” Jules said. “Father? Can you show me how to throw daggers tomorrow? You promised soon.”

Alshaya and Everett seemed excited with their new plan to torment Rex. When they scampered off, Xeik let out a sigh of relief. First round of children done, and there were no real hang ups. Still, Xeik had underestimated what it took to be a parent, and was already feeling the wear on his energy levels. Compared to his own work, this was much more draining. He was pleasantly surprised, though, that Jules and Corrine had asked for arts and crafts.

Is Lewis any good at it? Xeik asked. He didn’t want to make a problem for Lewis later down the line. As they walked in on the kids pulling out the art supplies, Xeik did his best Lewis impression and knelt down, looking over the supplies.

“Cats, huh? I think we can manage cats.” He stood up as they handed over the canvases. “What made you pick cats?” He knew the Terrowin family had a wolf who was prowling around, but where would they have gotten the idea for cats? Perhaps Benin?

No, most of the time the children are good. They look forward to story time the most. Where we can all be a family. We do that on certain days. They all crowd in even the older kids and we read to them. Most of the time its me reading. Lewis likes to hear it.

“Let’s play knights and dragon!” Everett bounced up once their time was up.

“LETS GO GET REX TO BE THE DRAGON!”

“Don’t beat on your brother too hard,” Simone smiled a bit.

“He needs the practice,” Shaya said before they sprinted out of the room.

Simone smirked more and pulled Xeik with her. Corrine and Jules are next. Today, they were promised some form of arts and crafts. So we will be painting.

Going to their playroom upstairs Jules and Corrine were putting the art supplies out. “What are we painting today?”

Corrine and Jules thought about it. “How about cats?!”

“We can paint cats. WE can’t get a model for a kitty though,” Simone laughed. "What do you think Dear? Cats?" The kids got the canvas out and gave each. "Thank you my lovelies."

"You're welcome Mama." The paint brushes were well taken care of by the children with care and it showed as they got them out.

Xeik was careful not to get too close to Simone. Despite having to appear as Lewis, it felt too awkward to snuggle up to her, but the children seemed not to notice, nor care, and instead focused their efforts on trying to get a snack out of their ‘father’. Xeik smiled, “Sure, a snack it is. What kind of fruit would you like?”

“Fruit?” Everett said, disappointed that his ploy didn’t work. “I guess…strawberries.”

“I want a kiwi!” Alshaya said happily. It didn’t take long for the house help to bring it, and already Xeik was reciting the story that had been requested. It was a simple enough tale, one that was read all across the realm. There seemed to be a few moments, though, where Simone told Xeik to embellish, and there were parts that she read as well. The kids seemed to love it, and even played along with some of the parts, reciting the story lines from memory.

As Simone started to read her passage, Xeik took a towel to Everett’s face where he had some strawberry juice. This is…not as bad as I expected, he thought. It was almost relaxing.

Simone felt his worry and patted his shoulder. “It takes practice. If they try to get more we ask the next child if they can join. If the child wants individual times we make time later in our free time slot. We have most of it cataloged almost.” In their shared mind space Simone showed Xeik a detailed timetable she kept in her thoughts. “I like to be on time so I always have it readily available for Lewis to access. Most of our children are independent and a lot of the time they understand. The only ones who don’t understand are the three youngest for obvious reasons.”

With that in mind, Simone took Xeik by the shoulders, “Whatever you do… Do not give in to demands without talking to me. Everett once asked for bacon as a snack and Lewis caved exactly one time three years ago. Every morning it’s the same thing ‘But Dad always lets me do it’. Communicate with me so we can handle it. They will eat you alive otherwise.” She gave a smirk.

They proceeded to have play time with the children and the first up was Alshaya and Everett. They sat them down on the couch and Shaya put Xeik’s arm around Simone’s waist before both children climbed into their laps. “Can we read this one today?”

“Oh… That’s a good one. Daddy loves this one. It’s about a trapped princess and a man who rescues her. Should I start from the beginning or middle? You’ve both heard it a thousand times.”

“THE BEGINNING!” They cheered.

“Da?” Everett looked up after they were all snuggled under one blanket together. “Can I have a snack?”

Fruits. They only get fruits for snacks. Chocolates are rewards for children who don’t punch their sisters in the face. She could see Alshaya’s face slightly bruised and knew there had been another fight just before playtime.

Thankfully the meeting with the teacher was over, but as they were leaving, Simone ran into one of the girls that Rex had been with. Alice was her name, and while Xeik had never met her, he could understand why Simone didn’t seem to like the girl. She had all the makings of someone who craved attention for the sake of it, and that meant that Rex had been a perfect target…at least before Hazel.

Simone was ruthless in the way she talked to Alice, but from what Xeik remembered, the girl had practically insulted both Rex and Hazel on their first trip together into Benin. He was pretty sure that Rex or Hazel told Simone, and that more or less cemented what Alice was in her mind, and nothing save for an intervention from the gods would change her mind.

Being somewhat of a pacifist, Xeik almost felt bad for the girl, but with Simone moving so quickly, Xeik really didn’t have much time to figure out how or what he should feel about the whole thing. It wasn’t his place. Maybe Rex is part succubus or incubus and he doesn’t know… That was almost a viable explanation.

“How do you two keep up with this!?” Xeik exclaimed as she went on about how each child needed equal attention. “How do you keep track of it all? What happens when they all try to get more!?” This was something that Xeik may as well learn now…with the way Mia was…

That thought terrified him, and it easily slipped through the resonance into Simone.

Once the meeting with the teacher was over Simone gathered up some work for Jules that would be needed since he wasn’t all too well right now. “I’ll make sure these are done and send them in with Lucas.” Mrs. Reid could be a good teacher if she wasn’t so biased.

Simone sighed as they left the classroom. “She gets more irritating the more we talk to her.”

Coming around the corner was Alice and her eyes lit up. “Mrs. Terrowin!”

Oh come on! Can’t we go one day without seeing some hussy that Rex was fucking… Still her face was calm. “Can I help you, Alice?”

“Well… it’s just… Does Rex miss me? At all?”

“No, he’s very busy with his very own family now. Four more months and his children will arrive and Hazel is quite suited for him. He’s grown up immensely. No thanks to you.” Simone pushed past Alice and the girl started to cry.

There are plenty of other dicks in the sea. She’s been weepy like that since I guess her boyfriend dumped her? She looks for Rex in town once in a blue moon. There was an eye roll. “At least she’s not Natayl.”

She pulled Xeik with her. “Now, we have a strict schedule that we must adhere to.” She ran down the schedule of playtime with the children. “Equality is everything with thirteen children. The oldest kids not so much but the younger ones will want your attention evenly. We make sure not to make them feel left out or unloved. Some children like Corrine and Jules or Alshaya and Everett like to have their playtime with us together. Any questions?”

Xeik was starting to understand why Lewis mostly kept his mouth shut during these exchanges. Simone was not a woman to be trifled with, and when she started to go off, she didn’t stop. It didn’t help that Mrs. Reid seemed to be almost antagonizing for the sake of it, and not providing anything of real value when it came to the children’s ‘wrongdoings.’ The only one that actually held merit was the Alshaya and Everett one, at least to Xeik, but even then there was almost a precedent set.

So, when Simone referred to Xeik as ‘love’ and asked for his input, Xeik was a little thrown off and surprised. First, it took him a moment to realize that Simone was referring to him and not the ‘real’ Lewis, due to their body swap. But when he finally realized that both Simone and Mrs. Reid were waiting for a response, Xeik sat up and cleared his throat.

“Well, based on the way I see things here, it may just be a simple adjustment to the curriculum.” Mrs. Reid gave him an incredulous look, as though she had never heard Lewis speak like this before. “Well…you have at least twelve kids who all seem to give you problems…but maybe it’s because they’re bored?”

“I don’t understand what you’re getting at,” Mrs. Reid responded haughtily.

“Maybe they’re not challenged enough, so they have the energy to do other things. If Ezili is passing all of her classes, then maybe she needs to graduate out. Lucas too. Mira and Fiori aren’t taking class seriously either…maybe you should focus some of the lessons around their interests. Aquatic life and design. Both of them have a history and require math and study. Jules is sick, but I’m sure he and Corrine are doing quite fine…so maybe be a little lenient when it comes to their learning speed. As for Alshaya and Everett….they just have a lot of energy. What do you have in terms of physical education here? What about things they can do to expend energy after class?”

He thought for a moment, realizing that he wasn’t being very Lewis-like. “Oh…and about Pearl…Peterson was it?” Xeik gave the best glare he could, given the circumstances. “You seem to take the words of a spoiled brat to heart. Maybe you should rethink your priorities if the children here aren’t your focus…”

Furthermore, this wasn’t an issue when I was the one teaching them. I’m beginning to think you don’t know how to handle this many children.”

The teacher and Simone were now staring at each other in a glaring contest. “If you are so per-”

“I never claimed to be perfect. I just claim to give a damn.” Simone tapped her foot. “You have provided nothing that is a problem. Next. Child.”

“Jules is always leav–”

“He is sick. Next child.” Simone’s impatience was beginning to wear the teacher down.

“Last of your children are the reasons why you are here today. Alshaya and Everett.”

“And what did they do this time?”

“Alshaya proceeded to beat on another child after being egged on. Everett egged her on to continue the beating.”

“What did this child do to her?”

“I don’t see how that is–”

“Let me make this perfectly clear. If someone’s child is harassing or hitting my child… I will instruct my child to hit back. Now, what did this child do to mine?”

“Alshaya and Everett were once again told that adopted children weren’t as important as birthed.”

“Totally understandable why the child got decked. You should control your class more instead of just lining your pockets with Pearl Peterson’s family money.”

“Are you accusing me of being bought?”

“Are you telling me you’re not?” The tension was building as Simone sat on the edge of her chair. “Or do I have to start donating to this school to make you give a damn about my kids? My children are very much loved and taken care of. It doesn’t matter if I birthed them or not. They will be treated fairly or there will be consequences. I have no problem waging a one-woman war.”

“Is that a threat?”

“It’s a promise actually.” Simone gave her snark and sat back in her chair with her arms folded. “Anything else you have to add Love?” She looked at Xeik.

I’m sure that we can work something out with Rhenakos…might calm her down a little. I could ask? Xeik thought. It was weird thinking his thoughts to Simone, but he was slowly adjusting enough to at least know how to direct his thoughts and keep them a little calm for Simone’s sake.

With every comment that Mrs. Reid made, Simone seemed to have a retort. It was eye opening what she had to deal with on a regular basis. As she finished up with Rex’s explanation, Mrs. Reid seemed even more annoyed than when they had started. Xeik almost couldn’t blame her.

“Well, next, we have Mira. That girl still refuses to use common in the class after repeatedly being told she is required to use it at all times. And, last week she even flooded the girl’s bathroom after an incident involving that toy she brings to class every day. I know she has an excuse for it, but it still should be left at home.”

Xeik sighed. This woman was absolutely unrelenting. “The last time I checked, your curriculum only accounts for pass or fail…I don’t seem to recall it ever stating common was a required tongue. Is she passing?”

“Well, yes-”

“Then…why does it matter what she speaks? She’s smart enough so it shouldn’t matter. And what exactly was the incident involving her orb?”

“Well, she was asked to share it of course. We encourage that around here. I’m sure that it’s not taught in your raucous household judging the behavior of your children.”

“But…you said it yourself,” Xeik replied with a sigh. “She has an excuse for having her orb. It’s hers.” It was Xeik who had written it. It was a complicated little note that more or less stated that it was a medical need. Nevermind that she was the orb. That was a little much to include. “The note specifies that it’s a medical necessity.”

“I just don’t-”

“Oh, so you’re a medical professional now?” Xeik shot back.

Mrs. Reid turned a shade red. “S-since when do you talk, Mr. Terrowin. I much preferred it when you sat back and scowled.”

“Next child, please…”

“Well, Fiori merely sits back and draws all day. I have several of her-” She pulled out a variety of highly detailed drawings of different shirts and dresses, ones that would even put a well paid designer’s to shame. “She rarely pays attention in class, and her grades are suffering for it. And…then there was that squirrel incident…”

“Go figure. You have an unruly household and you can’t control it.”

“No, they won’t speak up because they would rather be collectively punished than let each other be punished individually. It’s common with adopted children.” Simone shot back and the teacher narrowed her gaze.

“We’ll start with oldest to youngest. Lucas is fine he is an exceptional student but I feel Ezili distracts him.”

“Hardly, if anything he pushes her to make sure she stays on task. You would know that if you lived with us.” There was a mental eye roll. Always trying to say Ezili is holding Lucas back when it’s Lucas pushing Ezili forward.

“Then there is Ezili who constantly stares off into space. She should be disciplined.”

“Is her schoolwork done? Are her grades not excellent? She is not excelling?”

“Well… Yes… She is a great student and incredibly smart.”

“Then this is a non-issue. Next.”

“Rex.”

“Is no longer in school we informed the dean ourselves. We’re well aware. It’s his own personal choice as an adult.”

“With children on the way.”

“Shaya?” Mrs. Reid nodded to Simone. “The woman he is with is exceptionally smart. She is a graduate of Sularia’s Academy for the Gifted. She graduated when she was thirteen. Due to unforeseen things, our measures for birth control became null thanks to Rex’s recent Lycanthropy. She is teaching him and she is far more qualified then you.” Simone crossed her legs and glared down at the teacher.

It was a miracle that breakfast went so well, but Xeik could see that, with their teamwork, Lewis and Simone were working hard at being good parents. It was amusing, though, at how every single one of their children seemed to be guilty of something, despite not knowing who did what. Hazel even found it amusing, though in Rex’s case it was most likely how he more or less dropped out of school entirely.

The boat ride to Bennin was spent mostly bringing Xeik up to speed on the kid's teacher, Mrs. Reid. Pearl was evidently the daughter of a noble, and it showed in her holier than thou attitude. It was possible that her father donated a lot to the school as well, which would explain the favoritism.

“Got it…” Xeik said with a heavy sigh. “This isn’t going to go over well, is it?” Simone merely offered him encouragement, and soon they were in the classroom, sitting across from the teacher.

As Simone had said, her aura had a heavy negative feel about it. Judging from her lifeforce, she wasn’t exactly an evil person, but not exactly the most noble either.

“I gather you know why you two are here,” she asked. Mrs. Reid was a taller woman with narrow shoulders and even narrower eyes, as if she were in a permanent state of squinting. Like most teachers, she dressed rather modestly, wearing a rather drab dress with a wildflower pattern. There was a notebook in her hands, and a case file that could have been it’s own book sitting on the desk.

Simone was cutting up the food for all the little ones all while taking breaks to give Janus apple sauce. It was like a working routine she was used to. Even in her head there was a little hum as she worked. She was a great songstress and it showed as she carried a tune. “Now, before your father and I depart for Benin… Would anyone… and I do mean ANYONE like to confess to anything?”

They all looked up at her with guilty looks even if they hadn’t done a damn thing. Lucas probably guilty that he didn’t stop his siblings in time. “No one? Amazing, so this teacher is asking me to meet with her becauseeee? You all are the apples of our eyes right?”

They again got met with awkward stares and children ignoring her words for food. She smirked a bit in their mind. Gods, they all look so guilty. I can’t tell which one did anything. Simone cleaned up the twins. Glyn had been wrapped on her and he was taking yet another snooze now that he was fed by the wet nurse.

Thank gods I’m not breastfeeding anymore. The little terrors about bite your nipples off… I feel sorry for women everywhere. It was supposed to make Xeik laugh.

Once they were all done they settled the children with the older children. They got dressed and were headed off to Benin. “Important things. Their teacher is a bitch. Pearl is an absolute issue. This child told them being adopted was a bad thing. Also, the teacher sneers at me because we have thirteen children. I would like to not end up with murder charges today.”

Everything that was happening was pure, unrelenting chaos. Xeik had absolutely no idea how the two managed it so well, but as Simone started to talk to him through the resonance, he started to feel at ease. It was like he had a partner there for every step of the way, and suddenly he realized just how important it was to them and their everyday life.

“Hey, hey!” Xeik exclaimed, pulling Alshaya and Everett apart. “Cut it out!”

“HE STARTED IT!” Alshaya yelled, a big smile on her face.

“NUH UH!” Everett shot back with an equally as big smile.

“Do I need to throw you BOTH into a bath!?” Xeik exclaimed. If Lewis had done it once, he might as well play it up as a valid threat. That was enough for both of them to immediately stand up straight. Without fighting, they started to get ready on their own accord.

It was a difficult start, but Xeik managed to do everything that Lewis normally did, though he nearly messed up a few times. Had Simone not been there to help guide his actions, it would have been a total disaster. Luckily, five out of the thirteen kids pretty much took care of themselves, leaving only the youngest to rally together. With Ezili and Lucas’ help added on, they managed to get all of the young kids into the dining hall for breakfast.

It took Rex and Hazel a little more time to get down the stairs, but they were adamant that they didn’t need help. Hazel was just taking it slow, due to being five months pregnant at this point. She looked happy about it.

With everyone gathered, finally, breakfast was served. This was, perhaps, the most normal part of the day so far. Everyone seemed content to be eating, and Xeik was more than happy to indulge. This would be the easiest part of things…

Simone held a look on her face and looked over at Xeik. Say and do everything with me. Since we aren’t in sync we’ll have to yell at them together. Lila won’t listen unless we do otherwise. She’ll think of it as a challenge and we must not present ourselves as such. On my count.

Once she did the count down together they yelled, “Lila, Janus. No.” A deep breath came from Simone as the tyrants looked up at them. Simone nudged Xeik to go present himself to Lila while she picked up Janus. “That’s two. Eleven more to go.”

Alshaya was kicking at the bathroom door and Simone came up and touched her shoulder, “Shaya, go use Mommy and Daddy’s bathroom.”

“Okay. Good morning Mommy. Good morning Daddy.” She kissed both of them before running off. Her voice had shifted down to the most pleasant of voices.

“Everett, you better make sure to wash yourself before I make your father check you over. Do you want to be thrown in the bathtub clothed again?” Simone yelled.

“NO!” Everett yelled back finally.

She beckoned him to follow her and she began to knock on doors. All of them opened and children opened up half asleep and their clothes a wreck. “Good morning Terrowins!”

“Morning Mother. Morning Father.” All of them yelled various things to them with yawns.

Corrine came out with a brush and offered it up to Xeik.

Lewis has been brushing her hair every morning. Please be mindful of her head and don’t do it too harshly.

Simone made sure Jules took his medicine and kissed his head. The newest Terrowin came out with a stuffed bear looking at them. “I’m hungry Momma.”

“I know baby. Go wait down in the breakfast room okay?” Llynette nodded and ran. “NO RUNNING!” Llynette stopped midstep before she slow down for the stairs.

Suddenly Alshaya and Everett were throwing themselves onto the floor fighting and Simone took Lila from Xeik so he could tell them to stop.

It was strange, receiving a kiss from Simone. Watching her struggle with it was almost funny. Almost. Still, as things were now set in motion, and the day had started, whether or not they wanted it to or not. With Xeik having gone with Simone, that left Lewis to go find Raine.

“Let’s go see just how this day is going to pan out…”

Xeik had dealt with the Terrowin kids before, but this…THIS was chaos. The twins were indeed little tyrants. When Simone and Xeik entered the room, Janus was already grumping about, pointing at Lila.

“NO,” Janus exclaimed.

“YESSS!” Lila yelled back. The little girl disappeared, and reappeared next to Janus.

“NOOO!” At once, Lila was back in crib, reappearing as though she had never left.

“YESSSSSSS!” And Lila was back again at Janus’ side.

“What…the…” Xeik said, shaking his head. From the other room, he could hear banging.

“EVERETT! IT”S MY TURN IN THE BATHROOM!” Alshaya yelled. “DON’T YOU DARE STINK IT UP AGAIN!”

Simone nodded and held a calm smile now as she rubbed Lewis’s cheek which was weird since she was looking at Xeik’s body. “At least you are alright…”

Simone looked at Xeik, “Depends entirely on who it was that we got the letter about… It was just addressed to us for ‘multiple children’. That could be a whole slew of problems.”

Angela waved her hand at them, “I can do it immediately after this is over but like Xeik said it will take a while to do it. I like to do things right instead of the divine way.” She tapped her chin as she thought about it. “Keep Raine out of trouble. It’s her annual report today and I know Xeik was looking SOOOO forward to having to deal with that.”

Suddenly there was crying in the resonance and Simone held a frown. “We have to go. The twins just woke up and they let us know they aren’t pleased we weren’t there to greet them on the dot.” She hesitated at first and even appeared to gag before quickly pecking Lewis on the lips. "Let's go Xeik. You've met our circus but you've never MET our circus before."

Angela appeared amused, "Later today you can go be with the kids Lewis if you think you can keep undercover from them."

It was weird seeing himself standing with Simone, and when she finally saw him, rushed over to him checking him over. “I’m fine, Mone…” Despite being the wrong voice, the tone of Lewis’ calm and distracted speech was easily conveyed. It immediately had a calming effect on Simone, at least for a moment before she snapped at Xeik.

“S-sorry…” Xeik replied sheepishly, which looked extremely off putting coming from Lewis’ body. “I can’t help it..”

Lewis crossed his arms. “Angela…I get that you can’t switch us back, but is there any way you can fix the resonance? Maybe put a tattoo on our souls, or something?”

Before Angela could speak, Xeik started to talk, “Well, she can…but not like this. The whole process is a binding one, and it would take several days to complete. Which…we don’t have. But I’m sure she can do it once we’re back in our regular bodies…”

“So…Xeik has to be me for a day?” Lewis asked, looking at his body. “That…might be a problem.”

“I can manage,” Xeik said, sticking his tongue out. “That shouldn’t be too difficult at all!” He looked between Lewis and Simone. “…well, at least with the teacher stuff. I…feel like your kids are smarter than you give them credit for. They might know something is off…”

“Won’t know till you try,” Lewis responded. He turned to Angela. “So what exactly am I supposed to do all day? Sit here and twiddle my thumbs?”

Mia got dressed and followed them to Xeik’s office. There Simone was waiting with Xeik and she rushed over to Lewis to begin to check him over. “I can’t feel you it’s weird. XEIK STOP YOUR THOUGHTS!” She yelled at him. He was driving her nuts.

She rubbed her head and pouted towards Lewis. “Lew, Xeik is hurting me.”

Angela was going over some notes, “Looks like somehow they ingested a body swap potion. It’s the same potion because that’s how it works. It’s incredibly common at lower ranks so you two should switch back at the end of the day.”

“End of the day?!” Simone yelled. “We have things to do. We have their teacher to meet today. We HAVE babies that will want us in an hour. Are you telling u-”

“You have to pretend to be the other until the end of today. Just for today. At least with the kids. I can clear Xeik’s schedule but the kids are a different matter entirely.”

Lewis wasn’t getting through the Mia, and she even stated that Xeik had used that excuse before. Just how often does Xeik lie to get out of sex!? He was about to have to get rough, and figure out a way to throw Mia off of him. Thankful, he was saved by a timely intervention from the goddess, Angela.

“Oh thank gods,” Lewis said as he rolled off the bed. “He and I need to have a serious talk about his excuses…” He stood up, and looked at Lady Angela with a half shrug. “Not much is going to calm her down at the moment other than bringing her here. Just tell her that I’m safe. Other than that, Xeik will just have to get her here.”

It didn’t take long for them all to converge in Xeik’s office. Lewis was wearing Xeik’s regular clothes, and surprisingly Xeik was weaning Lewis’ regular clothes. To everyone else, they looked almost exactly like the correct people they should have been…except that Lewis’ body was smiling, and Xeik’s body was scowling.

“So…anyone want to guess what happened?” Xeik asked.

“No idea,” Lewis responded, crossing his arms. “Angela?”

Mia plopped on his chest and gave him a look before grabbing her chalkboard and she started to write. “You are seriously using this excuse again?” She held it so he could read it and her face had this expression on it like she wasn’t about to let him get away with it. She brought it back to her and began to erase it before writing, “You can’t get away today with a lie from yesterday!” She grinned at him.

Soon she was on all fours wiggling and huffing at him ready to pounce. “WAIT,” Angela appeared in the room and Mia rolled off staring at the goddess. “Mia, that is Lewis!” The goddess was obviously flabbergasted as she was still in her own nightgown with her hair a mess.

Mia sat up and looked between Lewis and then Angela. Slowly she reached for the chalkboard and she wrote. “For real this time?” Angela nodded and Mia huffed before erasing it. “Sorry.” There wasn’t a whole lot of shame for Mia.

“Xeik has a pissed-off Simone on his end because he doesn’t know how to calm her emotions. Quick Lewis tell me what to tell him before she burns the room down.”

Lewis’s eyes opened to see Mia staring at him with her golden eyes. This was an odd thing to be waking up to, and for a moment Lewis wondered if this was some kind of prank. But he couldn’t feel Simone, so something definitely was wrong. And Mia had this look in her eyes, as if she were trying to start something.

“Mia, no…” He held up his hands, but…they felt weird. They didn’t quite feel like his hands, almost as if they were…just wrong. “Mia, something is wrong here. Why are you looking at me like that?” There was concern in his voice now as Mia stretched, her naked form seeming to tower over him menacingly. She forced a smile out of him, which was the oddest thing about it all.

Then, she rolled on him. What kind of prank was this? “Mia, you can stop now. This is-” But now she was rubbing his chest. It was slowly dawning on Lewis that she genuinely thought he was Xeik.

It was about that time that Lewis realized that he, for some reason, was in Xeik’s body.

“Mia! There’s a problem. It’s me, Lewis. I’m trapped in Xeik’s body. You can fuck your boyfriend later…right now we need to figure this out. And…please for the love of gods just stop rubbing my chest.”

"Don't… you.. YELL AT ME," Simone screamed as the candles broke their shadows and erupted in blue flames." Once he gave a more calming voice Simone's anger slowly began to simmer down. Her blue-gray eyes were glued to him. Quickly her arms folded and she began to tap her foot and her fingers. Thankfully, their room had a noise rune so the kids couldn't hear her screaming.

“Xeik, I would love to help you right now but there’s an emergency…” It wouldn’t take him long to figure out what that emergency was…

Mia was snuggled against Xeik and she was letting out light snoozing noises. Once he woke up she blinked a bit and rubbed her eyes. Blinking her gold eyes she tilted her head at him and rubbed her little swollen belly. She huffed at him and tilted her head the other way as she was trying to figure out what he was scowling about.

She took her fingers and forced him to smile before silently chuckling and rolling on him. Before long her fingers were rubbing against his chest but… Xeik was being Xeik so she cocked an eyebrow.

Xeik was trying to work everything out. He had gone home, and Mia had more or less jumped him. Things went as normal when that happened. Actually, that wasn’t entirely right. Things went harder than normal…Mia was pregnant, and her hormones were all out of sorts. And then, the two went to sleep. When he woke up, he was here.

“Simone…just, give me-” Clothes were thrown at him, and he started to put them on. There was a pressure in his head that was building, and Simone wasn’t helping. It took him getting completely dressed to realize what the pressure was. That pressure WAS Simone, and as she got more unstable, so did the pressure in his head.

“Just CALM DOWN,” Xeik said, surprising himself. “Just…just calm down, Simone…”

He racked his brain. If he was in Lewis’ body, it wasn’t a long shot to think that Lewis was in his body. “Hey….HEY ANGELA!” Xeik’s usual method of yelling for Angela had a fifty-fifty shot of working. If things were as they should be, he should still be champion, as that power was a part of his soul, not his body… unlike the resonance, which was tattoo based.

“Hopefully she can check for me…”

Lewis groaned, rolling over in bed. His body was hurting for some reason…almost as if he and Simone had taken a night of rather rough, intense sex rather than the fun that he remembered. And the silence…something felt weird about the silence. It wasn’t normally this quiet in the morning. It was almost…unsettling.

Simone’s eyes popped open almost immediately as Lewis came to, “Xeik. Explain. Also, please stop yelling… It affects the both of us.” She untangled herself from Lewis and gave Xeik some space. Getting out of bed she found her nightgown and put it on. It was clear she was trying to remain calm but Xeik could now feel something akin to a meter building.

“Xeik… Where is my Lewis?” At that question, the meter was getting higher and higher to an uncomfortable temperature. She was about to blow up and Xeik didn’t have the cool that Lewis did to calm her down.

She went over to the dresser and yanked it open with strength she normally didn’t use before throwing clothes at Xeik, “Get dressed and stop panicking.” She screamed at him. His mood was influencing her horribly.

Xeik groaned. What the hell did I do last night? Feels like I was hit by a dragon… The memories of Mia molesting him came back, and he let out a sigh. He could already feel Mia being feisty this morning, nibbling at his ear. It was nice, though…normally she wasn’t this soft about it. And she was already feeling him up. This wasn’t like Mia at all.

And then the voice in his head happened.

Xeik’s eyes opened, and immediately things didn’t look right. Already, Simone was recoiling at the flood of emotions that were surging through the resonance. “Simone!? What the!?” He looked down at his naked body, which….wasn’t his. And then to Simone’s naked body. He had seen her naked before many of times during examinations, but this…this was more intimate.

“WHAT’S GOING ON!?” he said, exclaiming as he covered himself(?) up. “SIMONE WHY ARE YOU-” But his voice didn’t sound right. It was…much too different. Everything actually felt wrong. “Oh….oh no…”

Simone was entangled with Lewis after all of their fun. They had opted to lock the door so they could have fun with the new outfit just as Raile had promised. It was torn off and thrown around without much care. Lewis’s arms were tight around Simone that morning and she even gave a shiver as her shoulders finally peeked out of the blankets.

She snuggled back in and her hand went to Lewis’s crotch as if she was hinting to him what she would like to do. Her mouth went to his ear and she gently bit it. Just the way he liked.

Kids won’t be up for another hour or so… I don’t have any new outfits for you to rip though… So you’ll have to settle for nothing.

It was like any other night at the Heaven Cabaret. The women were beautiful, and the clients were spending. That was all Raile could ever hope for. And between Rhenakos, Drake, and Lewis, there hadn’t been an incident in over a week. It was perfect. Soon, the clients started to filter out as the night neared its end, and it was only the workers left.

As the regular drinks were getting poured, Rhenakos glanced over to Osiria, and nodded. It was time to enact the plan. He smirked. The revenge was to be set in motion tonight…revenge for the little tyrants that had caused so much agony that night before. The drinks were made, and handed out. With a smirk, Rhenakos looked onto Lewis and Simone.

“Oh hey, am I too late for a drink?” a voice asked from the doorway. It was Xeik, who visited every so often after a rough day. He walked over to Lewis and Simone, and started talking.

Rhenakos and Osiria watched on,eager to see if the plan would work. A small hitch in their plan happened, though, when Raile came up and started to talk to the two. :Hey, I need you two to cover next week. Do you mind?” He started listing off a few reasons why the bouncer couldn’t make it, which was lost on Rhenakos as he tried to see what was happening.

“Mone…can I have a sip?” Xeik asked. Simone nodded, and passed him the drink. Without hesitating, Xeik downed the whole drink. “Oh gods…that’s better. I needed that.”

“You…okay there?” Lewis asked, sipping on his drink as Xeik passed the empty glass to a saddened Simone.

“Oh…just a busy day. You wouldn’t BELIEVE what Raine can get up to.” He sighed. “Sorry…I really shouldn’t have done that, Mone…”

Once Raile finished with Rhenakos and Osiria, the two went back to their mission. Lewis was sipping on his drink, and Simone…Simone had already finished hers! The two high fived. Mission success.

The group said their goodbyes, and everyone went home. As usual, Lewis and Simone spent a little time with each other before passing out for the night.

And then…the revenge started.
