Lewis walked in and sighed, but happily helped Ezili deal with her hair. He wasn’t as good at detangling as Simone was, but he was getting there with a bit of practice. With Simone, she could have been done in three minutes or less, but with Lewis it took him about ten. The good news, though, is that for all the time it took, he didn’t hurt Ezili in the process, which was progress from the last time that he had tried.

“There we go,” Lewis said as he patted her head. “Sorry that it took so long. Let’s get breakfast now…” The two made their way down to the dining hall. Lewis nodded to the help, who was thankfully taking care of Everett and Alshaya for the day. It didn’t take them long to eat breakfast and scurry to the boat, and without any other hiccups, they were off to Benin.

“Are you ready?” Lewis asked. “Dancing isn’t easy.” One of the few things Lewis had to learn as an assassin was a variety of body control exercises, which surprisingly equated to a lot of similar dance moves as he discovered later in life. By no means were they one to one, but it definitely gave him a respect for those who put in the effort to the craft. “We may not find a dance instructor here, though, as a warning. It may take us time. Just don’t get your hopes too high, Ezili.”

The little naiad had gotten better at trying to emote and she tended to now overdo it but she was actually really excited. Ezili wasn’t scared of Lewis when he pulled out the dagger she knew she had surprised him. If it was one thing she had discovered about her papa he didn’t much care about the unknowns or surprises.

Lewis did look tired though and she felt bad, but only a little and not enough to contain herself. She had realized what he wanted from her a tad too late as she took the tumble but she was at least tough as she hadn’t hurt herself. There was a pleasant sound from Ezili as her eyes held a well of excitement as Lewis pet her hair. She had come to like paternal affection a lot especially their hugs, kisses, and the head pats too!

Ezili was back on her feet in a prance as she tore out of the room and slammed the door on her way out by accident. She had mastered getting dressed by herself and settled on a cute pink dress with white lace. She stuck her tongue out in concentration as she tied a matching pink belt around her waist and tied it in a bow. The dress had a boat neck to it with the lace around the neckline and hem at the bottom. Delicate lace patterns were just around the bottom near the hem and the lace hem was attached to the pink fabric with what appeared like little lacy daisies. White lace was almost under the short sleeves but hung out just enough to look very pretty on her.

Finally, she settled herself in front of the mirror and attempted to get the brush out. Her fine white locks had gotten all kinds of tangled. So when Lewis finally knocked for her he would find her with eyes full of tears. “I got my brush stuck!” It wouldn’t be too bad to get unstuck but she was holding onto a pink ribbon that Simone used in her hair. “I can’t finish my hair.”

It had been a long night for Lewis with a particularly long job, and he had gotten back early enough in the morning to at least take a small nap with Simone before she left. The loving wife that she was, she had left him to rest until it was time to take Ezili to Benin like it had been planned, so when the young girl burst into the room, Lewis was dead asleep.

At once, he shot up and pulled a dagger out, looking around. As Ezili started towards the bed, he sighed, and sheathed the dagger back in its place on the bedpost, and sighed as the girl jumped up on the bed, excited. With a tired smile, he tried to tell her to calm down before she fell, which didn’t work as she stumbled and fell off the bed right after the warning.

“Yes, yes,” he said to Ezili as he pet her silver hair. “I did promise. We still need to get you ready.” The assassin got out of bed, and pointed. “Go on and get ready. We need to eat breakfast too before we leave.” Her excitement was cute, and despite his dead eyes and tone, he was more than happy to take her into town to look into lessons for something she was interested in. As she left the room, Lewis threw on some casual clothes, a black, short sleeved button up shirt with red tailoring and pants, and made his way towards Ezili’s room. He had a feeling she wasn’t quite ready yet.

“How’s it coming, Ezili?”

Today was the day! Ezili came tearing out of her room an hour or two after first light. Her feet were stampeding across the floor waking up the house. Her hair was barely brushed, matter of fact she had gotten it stuck in her curls, and she was still in her nightclothes. She slammed open the doors to Lewis and Simone’s room and tore through there as well. She light and nimble as she jumped up onto the bed to a now alarmed Lewis.

The naiad began to bounce up and down on the bed in excitement as she tried to form the words. “TODAY PAPA! TODAY! YOU PROMISED ME, PAPA!” She had been calling Lewis Papa ever since she heard some of the house help. “MAMA AND LUCAS ARE ALREADY IN ADELUNA PAPA!”

She was letting out a squealing noise as she kept jumping. Her ankle got twisted in the blanket as she about launched herself off the bed and landed on her back with an ‘OOF’. She pulled herself up and her opal eyes were looking up over the bed but just barely. “You promised to take me to Benin Papa!”
