Angela stood in the office of her once head mistress. She was no longer a student but still an alumni of the academy none the less. Still her eyes watched a sun dial of magic ticking away and a groan left her lips. "You are always the quiet and reserved one in a crisis."  Her words left her lips as she looked towards Espicia.

"And you are the first one to jump on a crisis and try to find a solution. Panic and resolution are in your cards as always. Patience is something I was never able to teach you even when you became a goddess."

"No time to take it easy and think the best of things. All outcomes are to be considered. We're consuming a terrible number of potions as it is. Shipments are behind and we are running low on a variety of different herbs. I could conjure them up and be merry about it but what would that teach the students at the academy? I don't want them wholy depending on me. If it truly comes down to it I'll make them appear but for now… I'll be the better example as I won't always be around." The head mistress appeared pleased with the goddess's words.

"Good go to Itjivut. I just know how much you love travelling the ocean." A cruel one as always.

Leaning on the word of the boat as they sailed through the icy seas the cloaked goddess looked up at the sky as snowflakes began to fall. "She could have said Feeorin and I would have been fine… but Itjivut? She is just being so cruel." She pushed some of her red hair back as her feet caressed the bottom of the ship.

"Shouldn't you be wearing shoes?" One of the sailors asked her as she turned her head.

"Shoes are for people who can die of frostbite and for the completely uncultured baboons." She said it roughly but she loved the connection to the earth through her feet. She looked down at the jewels that lined her feet and she smiled a bit. "Besides like the earth will hurt me. Cold or not. When is our arrival time to the island? Our time is limited I'm afraid."

"A few minutes now. The way is very dangerous here on out and there appears to be a storm on the horizon. How long will you be on the island?"

"Who knows, some of the ingredients are so far into the isles that people have died of starvation before reaching them. This is no job for a novice. Though I suppose that's why I was tasked with it." Looking back to the other passengers she sighed, "Is there anyone else who would be interested in helping the Healing Academy gather resources to fight off the orc invasion?"

Galvin

Character Info
Name: Galvin Gears
Age: Thirties?
Alignment: TG
Race: Goblin (albino)
Gender: Male
Class: Mad scientist
Silver: 100
Galvin was in his own world. A world of wonders, of logic, and of innovations. He was also on a boat, rocking somewhat harshly in the strong winds. His world was his book, a book he'd been writing himself and which was a messy collection of ideas and schemata that only his own mind could ever hope to navigate. He'd been going over a number of ideas for dry-freezing foods for long-term storage (including ice-wraith farms and vacuum chambers) when a thought hit him.

How on Revaliir did I wind up on this boat? He didn't have the foggiest idea. He racked his brains, but the last thing he could remember before engrossing himself in research was having a craving for some fresh sea air.

He looked around. By the looks of things, he'd been gone for an extensive period. It wasn't unheard of - he once found himself in the middle of Canelux, chasing down a lead on a type of enchanted clockwork, before realising he'd left his shop unlocked. Luckily, a friendly neighbour had gone ahead and retrieved the spare key from his bedroom and taken a few of his most precious things for safe keeping. Sadly, that self same person had a very skilled cat thief in his house, stealing all the posessions without leaving a trace.

He took a look at the other passengers, just in time to hear a tall, relatively beautiful woman ask for help gathering resources for a healing academy. Galvin patted himself down. As per his habit, he'd unconciously gathered a lot of his belongings for the trip. This included any tools he might need while travelling, and indeed his pony had come along for the trip. Galvin sat in thought for a second.

It's a chance to get in the good graces of someone important, and to see things I have not seen before. Additionally, it may give me some insight in medical practise. Insight is good. And it sounds like fun. I could also forage for reagents for my own concoctions while on the road. Cons? I won't be able to immediately return to my shop. And it would mean antagonizing my green-skinned cousins. Wait, that's not a con! That's a pro!

He kept thinking along those lines for another two seconds before he sprang up with a fanged grin. "Sure, I'll help ya out! Sounds like fun! I am Galvin, inventor extraordinaire. And… Clueless. Where are we?" The white goblin looked around quite confused, and even though his eyes were covered by his shades, one could see that he wasn't being disingenous. In fact, he looked every bit as perplexed as he felt - which inspired poorly stifled laughter from the ship's crew.

Angela hated ships and she sure had said it many times in the past few hours. Her bare feet slid against the smooth boards of the ship and smiled towards the goblin who offered himself up to her side. "It is a pleasure to meet you." She held out her hand to clasp his as she looked up at the sky now. There was a cold wind now swooping in that sent her red curls in the goblin's direction. "I'm afraid the ice lands my poor man."

The goddess waved away the laughter. "You are not the first person to get lost on a grand adventure but I am afraid this one is very dangerous. Mostly because I must hold my power back so I do not completely destroy the land." She summoned her obsidian staff to her side. "This is Trandafir. Normally I would transform it into its beautiful sword form but you'll have to accept it's current state." The gold on the etched designs shimmered.

"You simply must tell me of your adventures while we wait to dock. Well maybe tell me more of your inventions."

Galvin, hearing about Angela's (presumed) prowess, simply grinned. "Dangerous means interesting! And the cold won't bother me too much." He watched as the woman summoned her staff - and actually waved at it. "Hello, Trandafir." He looked back up at Angela, perking an eyebrow. "You… Want to hear about my inventions?"

He stood still, in perfect silence, for a single second before breaking out into an enormous fanged grin. "Well! First of all, there are the goggles I am wearing. It's multi-layered, with six lenses, all with a specific purpose." As Galvin went on talking, his speech grew increasingly rapid. "The first lens is a shading lens. Being as I am afflicted with the condition of albinism, I am very photosensitive and thus need something to filter out light in daytime. The lens beneath is the outer zoom lens, adjustable to allow me to see details at various distances - it can magnify up to seventeen point eighty-two times!" Galvin kept on going, his speech now so fast one had to strain one's ears to follow. "The two lenses beneath are for sight-adjustment - albinism incurs not only photosensitivity - but also myopia extremis. Beneath that again is the second zoom lens which works in tandem with the first." The amount of words the little goblin could produce in a single breath was outright astonishing, not to mention the sheer frequency of the words themselves - even with his complicated vocabulary, he was pushing three words every second - and he still wasn't done. "The final lens is a reinforced blast lens which protects my eyes from harm should the goggles somehow take damage enough to unravel the reinforced frame and send glass shards towards my eyes, meaning that even if the goggles get crushed I won't be harmed physically!"

When he was done explaining, Galvin just stood there, grinning. He didn't even have to breathe any heavier than he did before, despite speaking over a hundred hurried words in a single breath. Just as a sailor was about to ask for clarifications, however, he continued - apparently in the same breath.

"I also come equipped with a series of weaponized inventions, including a set of blast flares which, when ignited in incorrect sequence, release not a steady flare but a hugenormous ball of firey death and destruction! I also have several vials of a compound which, when exposed to air, explodes violently! Finally, there's an experimental little thing I like to call the cryoblast cannon, a launcher using pressurized frostviper venom to launch a spray of freezing air at an opponent. It's all in my bags, wanna see!?"

Galvin, by now, was hopping excitedly up and down, obviously eager to show off his millitant genius. Nevermind the fact they were still in the water, on a boat very much made of flammable material - those little details seemed to have completely escaped the little goblin's notice.
