As the nightly hours grew, so did the darken skies. The cold winds blew gently, forewarning the inhabitants of Glaciem’s arrival that would soon be upon them. It would be when sailing was at its most dangerous and only the bravest of sailors and captains would wish to steer their ships to their destinations. However, there was a storm brewing on the island, one in the form of a young man that strolled through the streets. His ratty attire suggested that he was from the city’s slums and those that were out for the evening barely paid him any mind. Those that did whispered such names as “Riff raff”, “Street rat”, and “Scoundrel” beneath their breaths as he passed by. Oh, if only they knew what he truly was, then perhaps they would be more inclined to change their tones. It was no bother to Nemesis though, he relished in the attention and of the thoughts of what had happened earlier with his recently departed father. The smell of burning ash still filled his nostrils as his mind wandered over to the next objective. The destination was a far cry away from his childhood home; in fact, it was on the greener pastures. It was where the ‘higher’ society of Egjora dwelled and thrived at; being at the top of the mountain, the cream of la creme. Oh how mighty they must have felt in their beautiful clothes with pockets filled to the brim with crescents. How blessed they were with their wealthy lives and yet they were also the most troubled for the rich did not own their money, their money owned them.

One family in particular would be visited by him, one that hadn’t seen the likes of the man in such a very long time. How he had dreamt of this night as the cold breeze licked at his flesh, chilling him through the flimsy cloak as he walked deeper into the jungle of nobility. Those that had abandoned him and left him to rot in the slums would see what sort of monster they had created firsthand. Oh, it was so exciting to just think of their reactions, and then their screams filled the air like music to him. With each step, it only built up more and more inside him until he reached the house. Nemesis could recall the last time he had been here, it had been shortly after his mother and sisters left their home for her wealthy lover. Her greed and corrupt spread onto her own offspring and likely that of any more than they had made. Staring at the house for what seemed to feel like hours, he nonchalantly approached and unlocked the doors with ease. Pushing them open, he creeped inside and quickly moved through the darkness upstairs. Memories played back to him with each step, of her betrayal and leaving him with that worthless father while she lived the life she had always wanted. Forsaking her eldest son because he was not worthy enough to be a part of her ultimate dream. And now, it was time to pay the price for her sins.

They all would pay.
