Synthesis nodded. Maybe she was just overeacting. It was in her nature to be a little skittish and frightened in dangerous situations, though she had vastly improved since first arriving in Revaliir. They should just walk out into the open via the busiest streets and then take on anyone that decided to attack them outside. They would show them that they were not worth the trouble by putting up the same sort of fight as before and soon be on their respective ways. Not to mention that she had a dragon on her side - not that she expected Jesgil to use that ability. It was dubious and obviously something the other female understandably did not want to resort to.
In the meantime, a drink did sound good. She had already used a little of her water on her hand - now healed - but had plenty to quench her thirst. She gulped down most of it and offered the rest to Jesgil. Fighting for one's life was hard, tense work and the liquid served to soothe her throat and her jangled nerves.
"In that case," She replied,
"Maybe we should just be on our way. We can walk slowly and talk about whatever you like. I will recover more slowly but I will regain my energy and breath nonetheless. I think leaving this accursed city would be just as beneficial to my wellbeing as sitting and drinking tea in it. What do you think?" The thought of being in peace amoungs forest trees and grassy plains was most appealing after what they had just expirienced and a great motivater to get her moving.

"As much as that would be wise, I think the consequences are not worth it," Jesgil stated, looking upwards. "After all, if we can see the ceilings here in a casual manner, what would stop a guard? Suspicions would rise of our actions, and I would fear our hands would be our least worry." She then looked back down and level before turning to a alleyway, watching a figure move back into the shadows. "And it seems any movement in the shadows would be dangerous because of our pursuers. Our best bet would then be to stick with the open and head for the main exit. After so much distance, we would be out of the land's laws, meaning we should expect one last ambush. However, if we can survive when push comes to shove, I am quite sure that we would be able to keep on our ways in peace. We expect them, so they cannot catch us flatfooted, and the open land means it would be more challenging to catch us in a pincher like in the alleyway.
"So while you think we should be scouting the area, I think it would be wise if my mistress would take the moment and rest, regain her mana, and enjoy a relaxing drink for her own safety, as it would help ready for the potential outcome as well as the long journeys we have ahead of each other."

"I'd say lets get a drink but I don't have much money. So perhaps we should try to find a way out of here. The problem is that I think they have the town center surrounded. Someone was making hand signals at me just a minute a go which would imply so, at least." She sighed in fatigue and set about healing her other hand. The steady stingher the burnt flesh there was distracting and draining. Also, especially after finding out what she just had, she concluded that Jesgil wasn't going to need her services as a healer any time soon anyway.
"For now, let's scout around and see what we can see. The larger streets would probably be the safest, then any sort of detour through buildings would be helpful. If we could find a way onto the rooftops without the guards noticing then we might stand a very good chance." She knew there were a lot of ifs and buts in that plan but it was all she could think of.

Her eyes shrunk a bit hearing there was, but quickly reset when there was not much, having Jesgil laugh up the embarrassing show. "Not much you say? Then I guess I can go for a couple more weeks without worrying of dying it again," she commented, reflecting a big smile. "My hair is actually a natural silver, but I never think I look good in it. Sometimes, though I do worry that when I make those minor shifts, more of it gets exposed.
"Now then, shall we get going, or would you rather get a drink before we depart? During my time here, there was a small shop that served some very refreshing tea." She did not need to see anything to hint at the danger towards them. Merely the malice in the air tipped her hat off that they were not done. Still, Jesgil felt confidant, having conserved a lot of her energy during the confrontations to feel at ease in case things went awry.

Synthesis rose onto her tippytoes to peer at the top of the other female's head. She reached up to push the maid's red locks this way and that to get a good look. There was definitly silver there, glistening in the sun when she exposed it. She brushed her hair back into place and stands back.
"Yes, there is silver there. Not too much, mind you." The girl informed,
"Has this got something to do with the transformation you just underwent. Or just your heritage in general?"In the meantime, Synthesis was looking around the town center nervously for any signs of their enemies from before. As if to confirm her suspicians, she saw a scruffy looking man by the enterance to an allyway. He motioned two fingers from pointing at his own eyes to pointing at her.
We're watching you was the message. Then he drew his index finger in a line across his neck.
You're dead. Then he disappeared into the darkness of the narrow side street. However, the message had got across loud and clear. They were probably surrounded and if they tried to leave, there would be trouble. Synthesis decided not to say anything for now. They were safe for now - resting - and she wanted to know about Jesgil's hair. But if the other girl decided she wanted to leave the square, she would have to break the bad news.

"I, uh… don't really know," she answered, scratching her cheek with a slight blush, feeling embarrassed that she lacked the answer to that. Still, he was able to easily see Synthesis's signal to follow, and gave a nod before following behind, arms up front with a hand curled on top of the other. "I have honestly never tried to awaken the full force of that power, considering that would mean actually becoming a dragon myself… and it is hard to think of people accepting me, considering the stories I hear of adventurers and their 'grand deeds.' "
As the pair walked more into the open, her eyes scanned the region immediately, seeking out the image of a city guard nearby. As much as they had a distaste for their method of justice, they were their insurance on getting out safely.
"If you could not tell, most of my power and magic align with my dragon blood, hence its response to my Draconian chants. However, by doing that, I can only call forth any magic through them as well, meaning I must call forth some of that power to bring Tillan back into my arms. Still, at least that method is not as exerting as calling upon my dragon senses or ice powers, hehehe…" It was clear she was trying to shake off her nerves, even if it was a feeling more of the unknown. "Oh, that reminds me..
"Um… do I have any… uhh… white or silver showing," she asked, tapping on Synthesis's shoulder to get her attention before holding her hair back, as if to expose the roots.

Synthsis looked on in wonder. It was only when she watched the transformation reverse that she really regester what a dramatic change it had been. Jesgil had looked positively fierce, something any sane person would be wary of. Yet in the heat of battle, having been too distracted with her own survival, she had looked over to instinctively recognise the other female as her ally. She had been unafraid of Jesgil even when she had swept the druid off of her feet and begun transporting her forcfully to the town center. Her scales nor her fangs peterbed the girl, who somehow knew her to be a benign force. She supposed that it was this sort of life-or-death situation which prompted people to trust their most base instincts unclouded by the mosconceptions of the mind.
So as Jesgil set her down and bowed, Synthesis found her apology quite unnessesary, although she appreciated the gesture. The maid was so polite and refined compared to a lot of people the druid met on her travels. She had become used to abrasive natures of the solitary type so Jesgil was a breath of fresh air. However, one this that always seemed the same was the uniqueness of people she met while moving aroound. The daughter of a silver dragon and able to harness that power, no less. The maid was surely a valuable ally to whoever could affort her or those lucky enough to be on the recieving end of her generosity. When her heart wasn't covered over, Synthesis could voice that it was both huge and munificent. Therefore, the girl could understand the other's reluctance to use that power, given it's high price. She was also curious with many questions she felt herself desperate to ask.
"Not to worry, at all!" she brushed off the apology as lightly as she could,
"You did wonderfully and you saved me back there. You seem kind enough to me and in the heat of battle there is not always much room for mercy. I didn't really recognise much out of the ordinary for the situation. So I must ask, just how out of touch are you with your normal self when you use the power of your heritage?"As she spoke, she began to walk slowly in the direction of the the town centre, signaling subtly for the other to follow her. The sooner they were in the middle of people again, the sooner they could both relax. And Synthesis definitly needed a rest afer all that, her unhealed hand still aching and stinging distractingly.

As soon as the town center's main fountain started come into view, the maid took one final look back, watching their pursuers slow down before stopping. It seemed their plan was a success, seeing as they had been driven off from the continued front now that they could easily be in sight of the city guard. With a sigh, her pacing slowed down before coming to a walk, setting Synthesis back on her feet as soon as they became visible before taking a deep breath.
"Focus… focus…" could be heard under her breath as her features slowly morphed back to normal. Her skin once again turned smooth and her fangs went back to normal teeth. By the time she stopped muttering, her eyes opened up, showing how they were before the confrontation. However, before she could do anything else, she bowed to Synthesis before stating, "Please forgive my sudden outburst back there…
"You see, in truth, I am actually a child of a silver dragon, though as you can see, most of my features show human resemblance. Still, that linage does mean I have access to powers over ice, but whenever I draw them out, my heart freezes over. It is as if the ice I use freezes over my own heart when I use it. That is why I often try to stay away from it."

Well, this was a rather new turn of events. Her companion could scream ice as well! She put up little resistance as she was swooped off of her feet and nodded as Jesil revealed that they were going to the town square. That was a very sensible course of action that she had surprisingly not thought of. She had been so wrapped up with surviving the moment that she hadn't thought long term.
She blased a couple more fireballs over Jesgil's sholder before finally noticing just how charred her hands looked looked. They stung like hell and the girl grimanced as she focused a little healing magic into taking the edge off of it. The problem was that now she had noticed the pain, she didn't dare touch anything. Then she had an idea. She closed her eyes and focused all her magic towards mending one hand. Then she used that hand to get her canteen of water from her bag and pour a little over her still cooked flesh of the other. From now on, she deicided, she wouldn't used her healthy hand for creating fire. Then she could use it for other things safely and reliably without being in agony.
Surprisingly, now that she had a chance to catch her breath, Synthesis reckoned she had enough energy to heal the other hand but decided against it, in case she needed that energy to fight or heal Jesgil, who admittedly didn't come across as needing any help.
Finally, she saw they had come to the town center. She nodded to Jesgil.
"Thank you."

It was not good to see the reinforcements right around the corner, especially with their older targets still keeping on their tails. While two were weakened, they were still fairly outmatched. Synthesis's hands were looking rather crispy from having to follow up with her fire magic… Their attempts on escaping was being much more difficult, and she did not want to summon her weapon again before disbanding it as they tried to head to the public space. After all, having a massive axe is not exactly a wise move. "I guess I have no choice," she said, her eyes shining a more dangerous gleam as the smile vanished from her face.
"
Awaken my blood, and grant me your frigid heart," she spoke in tongue once more, her eyes now glaring sharply as her skin morphed, her face looking like a layer of scales wrapped tightly with a layer of skin. "
May ice take over and conquer those who stand in my way, as I accept the truth of my heart." Opening her mouth, her teeth now looked more like fangs before letting out a loud scream, a wave of ice soon following after as it encased the Cyclops and woman in a sheet of ice, slowing them down in the frozen temperatures.
Not even bothering to ask for permission, Jesgil followed up with taking Synthesis within her arms, telling her, "We are moving to the town square," not taking any objections from her before kicking herself past the chilled foes as she rushed for the public fountain.

"Good idea!" The girl replied and turned tail towards the town center. She ran fast, despite her being already very fatigued. Jesgil seemed to keep pace just behind her with much less difficulty. They had reached a slightly wider street when they saw two more humanoids running down the road in their direction. One was a female human with a sword, the other was a male cyclops fully kitted out in armour but with no weapon. Behind them, the two previous males were staggering into view.
"No!" Synthesis cried at them, "Tell me you're not with those two menaces!"
They woman simply shook her head while grinning sadistically. "We're here to carve you up!" She cackled and ran forward suddenly. Synthesis stumbled back and threw fire at her as best she could, seeing the woman faulter as it hit her sholder. She then began alternating between throwing flames at the woman and the Cyclopse, hoping if she could heat his armour enough he would start cooking inside it. She had to hope that Jesgil was up for a challange right now because with her attention so split, she couldn't hold them all at bay.
As time went on, the young druid couldn't help but notice the slowness of the Cyclopse. She decided to take advantage of it and began running around him. The woman and the gnome tried to follow her but before they could predict her actions she was clinging to the back of the brute and sinking her teeth into his neck where his armour didn't reach. He howled in pain and tried to throw her off, but by the time she did the wound was bad enough for him to need to retreat from battle immediatly. She spat the gore from her mouth, feeling a little bad.
But then turned to see the woman advancing on her and Jesgil dealing with the previous two alone. This certainly wasn't looking good.

Jesgil had no real qualm about the fireballs being tossed around in the tight corners of their battlefield. After all, it seemed her little friend was quite talented in her aiming and quick casting. All she really had to do was keep the Goblin at bay while keeping in mind the positioning of the gnome. Still, it seemed the two did have a minor size advantage inside the tight corridor, and they were making good use of it, with the goblin attacking on one side while the gnome fired from the other.
"Bash! crash! Smash!" the goblin cried out with each jump and swing of the club, having the maid use the axe head more like a shield. It was times like these she wished Tillam was smaller. After all, the large weapon was difficult to swing with in tight corners, and it wasn't the best weapon to lunge with. However, each blow the goblin did was more like a rhythm than an onslaught. One that seemed so rhythmical, it was more one note. Dull boring. Like a bard that only knew how to play three stanzas of a song, and this repeated them.
Enough so that it let her catch the goblin mid-swing and hold him out to take an oncoming electriical bolt. Sure, this still meant she felt the charge as well, but at she was not the one who took it directly in the back. It was also enough to cause the gnome to stop in stun from said action, allowing her to toss the red idiot into him before backing away to Synthesis.
"I suggest we move out towards the town square," Jesgil suggested, Tillan dissipating into fog once more as her eyes shifted back to a normal human's look. "If they assault us in the open, they would face worse crimes than dismemberment." It also meant getting away from their summoned back up as quickly as possible.

Synthesis was pretty impressed with the dramatic and lethal way the maid summoned and introduced them to her axe, Tillan. It was only when a spark of lightening zipped past her cheek that she was remined to stop staring and start throwing more fire.
It was a little more difficult now, as their enemies had regained themselves and she had to avoid the gnome's lightning attacks, while aiming her own more carefully so as not to hit her ally. She was soon breathing heavily from the effort but pleased to see that Jesgil was managing to keep the mallet of the goblin completely away from her with relative ease. They seemed to make a good team.
Every now and then she felt a little shock as a stray spark managed to strike her skin and her own fingers started to feel raw from handling so much fire with so much haste. However the thugs seemed to be aquiring many more hits than either her or Jesgil and were slowly being forced back down the road. It was at this point that the gnome pulled some sort of a horn from his belt and blew on it loudly. The sound rang out clearly and would probably be heard from streets down.
Synthesis's heart sank as she realised that more scum would soon be on its way to turn the tides of battle. She blasted a particularly vicious and scorching ball of flames at the horn in frustration, quirking a smile as she saw the gnome dropped it and began cradling his burnt hand in pain. From then on, his lightning attacks were much weaker and less frequent as he hung back even more from the wrath of Tillan, leaving his goblin friend to do most of the work.
This gave the girl hope. Maybe if they could take out these two before any more arrived…

The fireball was enough of an answer, and Jesgil could not help but smile in agreence. "Very well," the maid commented watching them get pelted with a rain of fireballs, holding them back into the defensive, not not before a chain of lightning was throawn there way.
"Alright then, you bitches," if that is how it will be, then just die! Grog!" In a hyena-like laugh, the goblin bounded forward, hopping around the firefalls, pushing in the distance, though the occasional one did hit to back him off. It was not much in terms of blind fury damage, but enough to hold the idiot back.
"
Awaken, my blood, and grant me your edge," Jesgil chanted in dragon-tongue, hands now swirling with energy. Her eyes shined with slits, as if reflecting her hidden away nature. "
Grant me my blade that will grant me the power to wreck havoc!" The energy moved and altered, forming itself into a long handle with a large mass of fog at one end. As the fog compressed more, it solidified itself into a long handle before bearing upon it a massive axe head. "Genleman, I would like you all to meet Tillan. Tillan, meet those who threaten our lives."
With a large leap, Jesgil moved to have the pair meet Tillan…
persoanlly… as Synthesis aided in back up with rain of fire.
"Augh! Our boss said they would be easy targets…" the gnome muttered before having to leap out of the way from another axe swing.

Sure, Synthesis was a bit of a coward and scared out of her wits right then, but at the same time she despised the nerve of these people. Her good new friend had already forked out a small fortune for a single fruit. After everything, Synthesis had been pushed to the point where she would rather attack them than appease them. So she threw her fireball in answer and created another, and another and another; throwing them all in rage before those low-lifes could even compose themselves. They fell about trying to dodge them and Synthesis couldn't care less. She scowled at the scum, not stoppping her assult.

"If you do not mind," she told her, once again taking her spot a bit more behind for the illusion, even if she preferred to be by her side. It was only to try and share that rank and position to fool the guards and citizens of the city. However, she didn't even need to awaken her sense to hear pairs of footsteps soon following after. With Synthesis taking her hand, she tried to imply the idea to move faster. Her nerves were on and and Jesgil can tell way: the feeling of intent placed upon them… It was not until they found themselves in a small alleyway did the pairing step before turning to see who had been following them.
"Finally, you girls stooped," the one in the front said: a gnome said, dark hair smoothed backwards into a set of spikes. "I mean, people would have thought of the wrong way if we were trying to return a coin bag to you."
"But I take it that is not the case?" Jesgil questioned, knowing full well they both had their possessions on them.
"Smart girl. So, then…. our boss was a bit lenient for the crowd, but he thinks that he went easy. Especially for a shoplifter like you in the back. So how about you pay up, I dunno… three hundred silver, or–"
"Or we smash you!" the goblin cried out in the back, hopping in the back, mashing the ground with a mallet. "We smash to bloody pulp and–
"–AND make sure you girls learn your lesson. So, how about it, miss… pay up, or deal with us." Holding out his arms, electricity crackled between them. "I think we can easily take care of one little girl and a pathetic maid…"
Taking a moment to think, she turned back over to Synthesis, asking, "Well then, what would you rather do, mistress?"
Author: Illusory Angel, Posted: Sun May 28, 2017 3:01 PM, Post Subject: Falsely Accused!
Synthesis nodded. She would appreciate the company.
"I'd like that. Shall we walk then?" She suggested and started to continue towards the outskirts of the city. She also looked at the fruit in surprise. She didn't do so well with spicy food so it was a good job that Jesgil had said that,
"And do you want this?" She offered out the fruit.
Just then she noticed a couple of people behind them. She lightly grabbed Jesgils arm and hurried them along. Perhaps she was being paranoid but she couldn't blame herself after what she'd just been through She continued to feel footsteps from behind and her skin prickled with fear. Then the footsteps broke into a run and she spun around and created a fireball in her palm. She didn't to, but at this point she was jumpy enough to throw a fireball at someone for running at her.

"Mistress Synthesis. What a beautiful name," she assured, smiling once more to her offer of a "favour." Hardly did she ever have something like this given to her,, but the feeling was still genuine. A nice sense of comfort, something she strived to give more than get. Still, in the end, with everything all said and done, Synthesis wanted to get away from here. As far as she could. Honestly, she could not blame her.
"Well, it would put into question about my servitude if I stopped being by your side, now does it?" she smiled, even if it did remind her of what occurred. "How about i join for for around the outer parameters of the city? From there, we can be on each other's ways.
"Oh! she suddenly exclaimed, "I guess I must warn you first before we separate. That pepper there," Jesgil told her, pointing down on it, "you may not want to eat it straight, unless you can really handle hot foods."

Synthesis was shocked by the (second) act of kindness that the other girl offered her but recovered herself eventually. Her heart swelled with gratitude as she gave a weak but genuine smile and pushed her herbs and coins back into her bag. She felt again the urge to give her kind savoir a hug, but refrained just in time.
"My name is Synthesis." She said timidly,
"I am very pleased to meet you. And if you ever need a favour, I'm in your debt. Just get word to me and I'll be there… But for now, I think I'm going to leave this city. I really dislike this place. You're welcome to join me if you like?"

Jesgil stood quietly, allowing the girl to pour her heart out, as if an emotional gate broke open from all the events that had occurred. She was overwhelmed by the public exercise that forced the dominoes to topple over into madness. She bought back the tears as a frog jumped into her throat, making it difficult to get some words across, but the message could not have been any clearer than day. She even took a moment to pause to fight off her emotions and recollect herself. Of course, though, she tried to offer payment back, maybe for her deed, but most definitely for the lost silver.
However, as she skirmished through her bag, seeking out what she could do to pay her back. However, Jesgil placed her hand on the bag itself, stopping her from taking anything out as her other moved to her packet, puling out a small handkerchief. "Do not worry about that," she assured her, using the small cloth to gently wipe away her tears. "If you want to pay me back, then do me this: Live. Live and be sure not to do the same mistakes. After all, you did not hire me to save you, did you not? Accept it as a generous deed from a stranger.
"Although…" she paused, thinking for a moment, "I do not think we should leave us as strangers. Tell you what, how about you pay me with your name? I am Jasgil Yamar. A pleasure to meet you, mistress…"

Synthesis walked briskly without looking back until they were several streets away from where she had almost been doomed to lose her fingers. Her heart still beat fast and her whole body was coiled in tension. Once they were out of clear earshot, the maid spoke and the druid slowed her pace, looking over her sholder as she gave the other an opportunity to catch up and walk beside her. She was in shock, and as she spoke all her emotions wrestled to burst forward in a pathetic show of vulnurability that Synthesis was ashamed to display.
"It is very sad," she agreed unhappily,
"I wish I could have helped that boy like you did for me. I don't care if he was guilty! He didn't deserve that." Her voice filled slowly with anger,
"And this stupid thing?" She held out the fruit,
"I… I just didn't know what it was." Tears threatened to spill from her eyes, though she whiped them aggressivly away,
"It was sh-shiny… and red… and I didn't know what it w-was." She stopped walking and leaned hopelessly against a wall as she practiced breathing deeply.
"Thank you so much for helping me back there, though I'm afraid I have little to give you in return. What do you want as payment? Surely, you at least need that fifteen silver back. I'll get a job as soon as I can for earn it but for now won't you accept some herbs I've collected and… and these? She rumadged in her bag and brought out some wrapped up herbs and three silver pieces that she had been saving, offering them forth.

There was a minor pause before Jesgil's response, as if to think it over before nodding to her, "Very well… Just make sure this doesn't happen again, or i will tell your father. I am under him, after all." Still, she could feel the sorrow coming from the younger girl, as if her mind's eye were still looking in that direction. However, it seemed her own concern brought her back to the current situation before offering to return back home. "I take it you did not find what you were seeking? Maybe another day, then," she mused before walking away with her, letting her lead them outside of the marketplace to show rank while the Draconian watched out for any tailers, just in case.
"It is sad," Jesgil remarked once most of the market noise died down, "but that is this city. Peace being upheld by the strictest of laws, where minor scraps can have major impacts, and yet there is no easy solution to fixing it. For us who live normal lives, it is difficult to comprehend.
"That said though," she looked over at the girl's fruit of choice, "why were you so interested in a cayenne pepper?"

Synthesis was so relived to be freed that she could have hugged this stranger. Instead, she held her head up high and nodded to her as she imagined a rich girl or noble might to their maid. She wasn't the quickest thinker but she was just able to pick up on the suble hint of her savoir to speak as such also.
"Tell him nothing," she said,
"There is no need for anyone to know of this unfortunate incident."
She felt sad as she thought of the young boy, now pulled screaming out of sight, and she worried how on earth she was going to pay back all that silver. However, she had to keep herself focused on acting now and getting as far away from the guards and hawkish shop owners as she could.
"Shall we return home then?" she said to the maid,
"We don't want to keep father waiting, now do we?"

Public examples. A dark element within this city, meant to keep the populous under check. To those who lived inside of it, it was the norm, however, those outside were often confused by the cutthroat nature of everything. They were sad times, even when working for those struggling under the net casted upon them, but there was very little she could honestly do. It was rough, but it was something done for so long, that it would require an entire revolution to overturn. However, since this was a market city, such a civil war could ruin its reputation and deals, thus burying it in debt once more, either causing things to repeat, or the city's end. The slim hope of a real chance was hard to see.
However, by the time, the public demonstration passed by, it seemd another was called out, catching the ears of the Jesgil. Moving with the crowd to see, she saw a young girl accused of thievery, most likely being the fruit in her hand. Her eyes, while seemingly rich in the color of blood, shone a sense of innocence. She was simply an outsider drawn to the demonstration that placed her in the terrible predicament.
"There, you are, Mistress," the Draconian stated, stepping out of the crowd and into the circle, heading over to the pale woman. "How many times must you dart into areas like these without me to keep an eye on you? Your father would have my neck if I reported you lost." Turning over to the shop owner, she gave him a bow, telling, "Please forgive the young mistress, she meant no harm."
"Harm?!" the shop keeper questioned, raising an eyebrow at her before pointing at the fruit in her hand. "She was trying to get away with my merchandise! How do you not call that harm?!"
"Simple," he replied, reaching into her apron to pull out a coin bag. "I am in charge of handling the money. She was simply looking for me to see if we had enough for it. However, it seems the young mistress got so excited she forgot to return it. A simple misunderstanding. Now then, how much for the fruit?"
The owner mulled over her response, staring down the sweet smile the maid was offering him. "Normally, one of them would have been five silver," he lied, knowing the price was much cheaper. He had his hands in the negotiation, considering the situation. "However, if you add in an extra ten, I will mull this over as a simple mistake." It was that, or send her over to the guards to lose her fingers.
"Of course," she said, digging into the bag and paying the fifteen silver for the fruit that would have costed two at most.
Skimming over the coin to make sure it was counted right, he shoved the girl's arms out of her hands. "It seemed we had a simple misunderstanding. Nothing to be seen here," he stated, mainly to the guards who were readying their bindings. However, with the conflict being ended peacefully, the crowd started to dissipate.
"Now then, what do I tell your father?" she played, giving a last wink at the end, as if to hint to play along.

Synthesis had never seen such a bountiful myriad of shops. She went in each, one by one, to admire their wares and found herself trailing her fingers over everything in awe. She practically drooled over a herbology book, bound in the finest leather and written on the crispest new pages. But alas, everything was so expensive and the young druid had absolutely no chance whatsoever of affording anything. She left each shop a little disheartened, until finally she came to a shop selling fresh fruit. She refrained from touching any of these because they were food, though she couldn't help picking up a bright red specimin she didn't recognise to test it's softness. But then she was distracted by the sound of loud voices outside. In such a peaceful city, such noise was rare and she made her way briskly outside.
There she saw a boy being pulled forcibly down the street by two armoured guards. Next to them stood a woman, who sneering down at the youth.
"You'll regret trying to steal my wares, young man. Mark my words." She said threateningly. The boy only sobbed and struggled.
"No, not my hand! Please! Have mercy!" The men pulled him on regardless.
Synthesis began to run without thought to interveine. The boy was only a child! She had to talk some sense into them. Just then, she heard another voice behind her.
"Thief!" It cried and her blood ran cold as she realised that she still held the red fruit in her hand. Was she the thief being accused? She screechd to a halt, turned around and raised her hands.
"No! There's been a mistake!" She said, her voice panicked.
"The only mistake made here is yours." The owner of the voice, a man, growled and grabbed her. She struggled but it was too late. More men, includin several guards, were converging and soon she was held fast.
"But don't worry, you won't be able to make it again when we take your fingers off." The poor girl could have died from fright and searched frantically around her for a sympathetic face.
Someone. Anyone. Help! Please.
