Father’s plans had faltered just a bit recent, but the ambitions of his most cherished child was still thriving through the ashes. Carrie wouldn’t allow for the setbacks to deter her for in secret her own had yet to bloom, and when it did, the fruits of her labor would be satisfying. For the last few weeks she had been content on the city island, living among the elite residents during the day and yet at night she sought through the filth that was the lower districts for a particular area. She was lured by an instrument that was potentially useful towards her goals and she knew she had to get it before anyone had heard about it. Those that had heard of it didn’t believe that such a prize possession would ever be left in the such a desolated area, but it seemed like the most perfect place for it to be hidden.

The story was told of not too long ago a man from there went had gone mad and murdered his abusive father in cold blood. He was said to had dreams of grander and spoke of riddles and nonsense. Such a wayward soul and there was no knowing what had ever happened to him. Plenty of speculation around his disappearance spoke of either his eventual death or his departure into a foreign land. Either way Carrie was unconcerned by that and kept her focus on locating the treasure he was said to have hidden away back in his home. Whether it had some sort of power in of itself, or if it had enough value to be sold off, she would find some use for it.

On this particular night, she sneaked down into the lower districts again, she was in a lowly hooded cloak that she wouldn’t usually be caught dead in because they were beneath her. But it was all a means to an end, it was something she was having to keep reminding herself as she walked down the streets. Guards were usually on alert in these parts, mainly for show to comfort the families here but they didn’t do anything more than get drunk and harass people. Carrie was quick enough to avoid them for the most part and those that had gotten in her way found themselves frozen and pushed onto the ground to shatter into pieces. Recently she got word from a lowly barkeep that had a tavern here had said he knew of the mad man’s father and where he lived. She was going on his word to led her to the home of the forgotten; which she eventually made it too. Keeping to the shadows, Carrie reached the desolated and tiny house and opened the door. Indeed this place was far more filthy than any part of the district she been to yet, likely because there was no one living here anymore.

Dust and cobwebs covered every foot of the home as she peeked inward and sighed annoyingly. Her blue eyes glowed and made her vision better through the darkness as she left the door wide up without worrying about the consequences. Immediately she started to tear through the place which didn’t have too much things around. Just some straw beds and blankets were in the few rooms and a table with two chairs out in the main room. She had believed that the search would be quick and easy, but as she stumbled through each room and frantically searched to no prevail, she was starting to wonder whether it was truly a waste of time.
