Seier’s bilious green eyes looked down at the woman, his expression changing quickly from surprise, to irritation to sheer anger. How did this woman get past his watchful eye?
The wind whimpered through the trees for a moment, a shadow falling over the face of Seier, as he glanced at the woman on the ground with a stare that could kill with an equal amount of determination to do that.‘Guess it is true what they say.’ He thought grimly as he snapped out of it, grinding his teeth
‘You can miss the forest by all the trees. ‘ He dusted his coat for a moment, scowling and quickly aimed his crossbow at her, without batting an eye, falling into a stance. He looked at her thoroughly; ready to shoot if she decided to move.
“What is a woman, like you, doing in this cursed forest?” He asked her, his voice cold as his sunken in eyes that pierced through her
“I hope nothing Forbidden?”‘A woman would never be out in this forest without proper protection or reason.’ He though to his sentence and huffed out loudly. He waited for a moment and slowly moved forward, while the corners of his mouth slowly moved up in a fake smile. He had to be sure first.
“I am sorry, lady. I didn’t mean this little ‘outburst’. You understand . . . the tension of the forest.” He gestured with his hand at the trees around him with a toothy grin, his voice sounding irritated and raspy. He moved his hand forward and his crossbow up in one hand to keep the bolt in the flight groove, in an offer to help her up. “
You got there a little something on your head.” He added rather captious.
He inspected her again for a moment, his eyes moving from her brown hair to her equally brown eyes. His own eyes fell in to a bored expression for a moment but he quickly readjusted it with a shake of his head, hoping that she didn’t see it.
‘Wouldn’t be surprised to see someone like her boasting around like the gossipers of the mere village’ He thought, disparaging.
‘. . . But I shouldn’t judge by looks alone. She has something unsettling about her.‘ He locked his eyes on hers again, cautious to hold up the not so genuine concern in his expression.
“Again, I have to ask what someone like you has to search so far in this forest, nonetheless alone.” He went on, his hand still waiting in the air.
“I’d guess you didn’t hear of the dangerous beasts or witch in this part of the forest?”
