Deep within the Virens Forest was a camp of ill repute, housing slavers and their ‘wares’, ready to be moved from here to the next stop before the market. Truth be told this group had been doing very well in the last few months, moving their ‘goods’ around under the noses of any would be heroes and having no ‘product’ escape from them. From Virens they would heard East to Deces Bay to load their slaves into boats and head out to a larger barge and from there to Yovaesh to supply and then back to the mainland via a port near the desert. A complicated route but one that kept them moving and harder to track.
However, their luck had run out, as things had leaked about their activities. Though very few knew of the location and fewer still were willing to take on a larger than average slaver ring that was well established in their camp in the forest. However, at least three individuals were willing to take them on and wipe them from the face of the world and free the captives.
Sirona, Goddess of Light and Strength, stood within the forest with two of her Clergy, one woman and one man. The woman was a well trained fighter and the man was a healer by trade, though Sirona had been teaching him some fighting techniques to help him defend himself. The woman had her shield and shield and the man had the bo staff he had been training with. Both of their weapons had a faint glow to them thanks to the blessing that Sirona had placed on them, the shield she had blessed with a protective spell to make the wooden shield that much more protective while remaining light.
For her part Sirona had her usual armour on as always, with her hood up over her head, her sword in her right hand and her shield, Faith, in her left. Finely crafted the shield had done her well since it had been created for her.
”Are we ready?” She asked in a whisper to her Clergy.
”Yes, Goddess.” They each replied in turn once they had checked their gear one last time.
Sirona nodded.
”We go in together, I’ll take point and carve a path in them. You two can cover each other and help the slaves as we pass them. If you get in trouble just yell and I’ll be right over.” They both nodded to her but were clearly nervous. Sirona set her sword and shield down for a moment and placed her gauntlet covered hands on their shoulders.
”The Light will guide you, I promise. You have both trained hard these past weeks. We will purge this den of sin and evil from the lands and make the world that much brighter as it falls. The slaves we can bring back to the cathedral and help them get back to their families.” That little talk seemed to help and they both nodded.
Getting her sword and shield in her hands again Sirona stood, large white wings folded for now. It was dark in this part of the forest despite being late afternoon, and off in the distance they could just make out a lantern or two that the guards were using to look out with. Together they walked towards the camp, Sirona steeling her resolve for the coming fight, though she didn’t have to steel it that much.
