This had seemed like such a good idea at the time. Nimbly, the fox darted and weaved between the towering, thick trunks of ancient trees, cackling her crazy little head off as she did so. Alright, so maybe it was still a good idea! She was having the time of her life! So what if the mounted people behind her were having a less than merry time of it? They didn't deserve to be happy. The assorted pompous nincompoops hadn't cottoned on yet that you shouldn't chase foxes into deep, dark woods. So bloated on self-importance and thinking they were indestructible and inscrutable, they had given chase, even when their horses showed more sense than they and balked at the forest edge. Akori had found the group menacing a lone, young true-fox, and the plan just fell into place from there. They didn't know a todd from a vixen, let alone a true-fox from a kitsune. It had been easy to lead the hunt away from the true-fox, and after her. Akori, saviour of foxes, bane of huntsmen! She yipped gleefully, and bounded over a fallen log. She rather liked the sound of that!

Maybe that wild night with Aspect had planted ideas in Akori's head.

While she had never been in this part of Revaliir before, Akori was reasonably confident she could find her way out again, or that she could survive here as long as she needed. Sure, there wasn't any people for her to feed on, not once she lost this clueless lot, but as long as she marshalled her strength, didn't do anything too flashy, she could last. Had she tried it before? No, she was much too fond of her her - hah - creature comforts, but she was sure it was doable. Probably. And if she didn't make it out in time? Oh, you know, nothing too bad, just the loss of all her powers and ability to hold a form. Okay, so maybe she needed to get out of here just as much as the hunters, but like hell was she going to back down now and let these humans off that easily. They didn't need the food, and like hell would a lone cub barely out of the earth feed that lot anyway! Akori found an usual feeling settling over her heart, like a grumpy, itchy cowl - disdain. She grimaced, and tried to shake it away. It felt nasty, cloying, and she didn't like it being part of her. What the hunters was doing was wrong, and she opposed it, but she didn't want to feel bad about it either!

So lost in thought, she almost ran headlong into a massive oak, coming to a halt bare inches from the red trunk. Her paws skittered over the leaf-litter, digging into the earth beneath, before she twisted herself to face the mounted humans coming to a stop behind her. Crouching, she raised her hackles, the fur spiking about her ruff in exaggerated peaks. It was doubtful they would notice until lightning started flying from her spiked fur, but if anyone tried to grab her, they were in for a rude awakening. With gleaming eyes, Akori dropped her jaw in a fox-grin, and prepared to dance around these lumberfoots like she was back at that fancy ball.
