The dream-fiend was crafty and elusive, but Gale was undeterred. Slash after slash she and the infernal being exchanged swipes and near-misses. They were at a stalemate, when the bellowing roar of a great beast made her look in its direction. That moment of distraction was all the alp needed to lunge and leave a nasty gash across her leg. The dream-walker cried out in pain, but returned the favor by landing a powerful right hook into its belly. The searing flames burned into the shadowy fiend where the katars had made way through a wound, and the shrill scream told her she had landed a direct hit. With her injury, she would not be able to use the full extent of her current elemental state, or even her other. Seeing her mobility was affected, the wicked thing chittered and jeered in glee at her misfortune. Setting her lips into a hard line, the dream-walker had yet another card to play. If she couldn't reach it, then she would bring it towards her.

She held up her hand and in a twinkling of an eye, there was the sound of something descending from on high. From behind the alp, a large flaming ghostly wheel crashed to the ground and began moving on its own–barreling towards the imp at full throttle. This was Kasha, the burning chariot–her surprise attack she had planned should her enemy stay out her reach. The sound alerted the dream-fiend's attention, but no matter where it would run Kasha would not be far behind. As it had done towards her, Gale then sent a torrent of flame into the alp's path while it was preoccupied by Kasha. Cornered from the back and the front, it tried to vanish but was a moment too slow as the spectral wheel finally hit. The blades of the flaming wheel tore the imp into pieces, and combined with another blast of flame it was vanquished. As the last fragments of the fiend were sent to from whence it came, Gale could feel the heaviness in the air lift as its curse was broken. It had been a hard-fought battle, and she dropped on her uninjured leg kneeling. The gash on her leg was stinging and bleeding. She had no bandages or wrappings on hand to stop it from flowing, so she brought her bracelet and touched her blood to the stones.

Immediately her wounds began to recover, and she was beset by a great weariness. Putting her weapons away, she finally let herself rest as much as she desired. The fire and burning sage would keep any other fiends away.

seeing the one go to sleep put her at ease for a little bit she spent the time to fix the nest up and heat the sick egg up. she than noticed that there were still a couple carcasses left and ate them before returning to the nest and rapping around the nest. she had drifted to sleep soon after.

the sound of the girl yelling woke her up and she looked to see what was happening. she came to notice the girl was ready to fight some type of shadow creature and decided it best to stay and keep the eggs covered for she did not have the energy to fight long. hearing a roar from out side she closed her eyes and tried to pick up a sent. she could not get one so she just watched. one of the eggs started to make sounds and she willed it to stop so she could keep them safe and hidden. it just kept making sounds and soon the others started to join in.

It had been a long time since Zavosh had been to the forest. The greenery, even at night, contrasted with the blue and red scales that armored his large body, protecting him from harm. He moved silently, or, at least as silently as a dragon could in such a forest. He was here for his brother. He had left his mate behind on this continent to help their kin with trouble on another, and had been gone for months before asking Zavosh to come and check on her and the hatchlings. And so here he was, searching for his brother's mate.

He knew the area of the cave, but not the exact location. The trees hid any light that may reach the skies, and the forest was deathly quiet. Quiet, that was, until a young woman began shouting. He snapped his head in that direction, quickly approaching the area, before reaching the edge, examining the scene. It was a cave, with a fire lit inside, casting strange shadows along the wall, and into the clearing. However, upon closer inspection, he realized that it was't a shadow- not quite. A shadow beast. He had only ever encountered one other, much larger, and much more lethal. It had nearly killed him. He stepped into the clearing, letting out a might roar, hoping to scare the be

As Gale and Darkhor fell into a heavy slumber, the dream-walker felt something was amiss. She had just entered the dream realm, however she felt a disturbance in the weave and weft of the stream of consciousness. It was then that when she tried to awaken, she felt as if her body had turned to stone. She struggled and struggled to open her eyelids, and move her limbs but it was as if she was paralyzed. As she fought she felt it, the source of the disturbance. It was outside the cave, just at the opening. The tall, spiny creature which displeased the mother dragon was closest to it–which meant it was likely being affected the most. Refusing to be held helpless at the possibility of a real and present danger, she broke free from the enchantment channeling her inner strength. Around her, faint wisps of phosphorescent green dream-fire began to manifest into the waking realm as she was roused to anger. Her bright blue eyes searched intently until she caught sight of the thing.

Lurking at the mouth of the dragon's cave stood a shadowy being, hunched over with glowing yellow specks for eyes. It was only a few feet tall, but she knew its appearance did not do it justice in portraying the malice and devilry it was capable of. Eyes burning with fury, she uttered a single word with righteous indignation. "…You." The fire had begun to die down, hence explaining why the fiend's hold had not taken effect until now. Throwing more fuel to the fire, as the light strengthened she rose and drew her katars. "How dare you bewitch and torment the innocent. Hear me, shaytan–I will not let you go unpunished!" The increased brightness of the campfire revealed an inky-black shape that resembled a vile-impish creature with beady soulless eyes. It jabbered with a mouth full of teeth and one of its eyes glowed red with evil enchantment. Her veins burning with fury, Gale's fiery-orange hair seemed to become flame itself as fire manifested and entwined around her body. "Rakhasa!" She shouted, activating her elemental state of fire. She charged at the dream-fiend, with flashing eyes and floating hair.

After he had hungrily ate the food he laid his head down and had listened to what the dragon said, "Mmm yes I did assume so… that was a bit my bad. Not so unusual to have spies watching and reporting my activity which I preferably wish to have none at all…"

Darkhor yawned at that last part of the sentence and nodded tiredly, "Yeeeah… That is exactly what I will do at.. *Yawns* at this *Yawns* time… *Snores* I thought I was…! oh… *snoring*" The Drakkollis had so suddenly had fallen asleep and had seemed he was about to say something else. He stretched himself out and continued to sleep and snore loudly.

she was not half amused at his laughter. she took a bit to brake the stone so it fit in the nest than laid it between the sick egg and the healthy eggs. she than laid on top of them and looked at the male that was now catching his breath. "you assume things. I would not go near a town much less a tavern. I have contacts that told me of your activity in the aria. Also never stated I would eat you just said you would disappear" she noticed the girl had drifted off and quieted her tone a little bit. "By what I have heard you do not play by the usual rules of your kind but if you came to sleep than sleep."

he had known that she had been starving. "And what concern is it to you if my mate has been gone for a wile or if I starve along the way." she laid her head down. she had nothing to say to his loss of mate so she watched as he ate like a wild dog.

Gale listened to the white dragon, and understood her concerns. However she had no basis to discern who was speaking the truth, much less if the truth spoken was in full. She had no idea what a 'drakkollis' was or what that even meant, but apparently the mother dragon felt threatened by its presence. Was she worried that it would steal her eggs? If that was the case, then the dream-walker decided she would help protect them. The other being did not seem to be doing anything which was endangering the eggs, so there was no reason for her to act. In the time that had passed night was beginning to fall, ending any last chance she would have to procure more food all of them. Gale was content for now, and instead refueled the fire. It was important that it remained burning strong, to keep other beasts away. Not ready to sleep yet, she sat by her fire watching the shadows dance on the cavern walls. They reminded her of the shapes she and the children made in the noonday sun in the streets. Soon, she would be able to go on her way back to the city again…

Her eyelids grew heavy and she quietly slipped back into the realm of dreams. She would awake within the next hour, she told herself. Just a little longer…

Darkhor tilted his head and was about to eat but the dragon stated of what he was and covered the nest with a stalagmite she knocked over with her tail. He did not ignore what she said and chuckled which then bursted into laughter, "You..! You..! Ahahaha! I am so sorry I just could not contain myself!"

He then took a few more moments to calm himself down, "Sorry. Ahem… Yes I did do so at the time and it so happens that you were the one who I spoke to. I simply myself followed the smell of food here, I followed what scent I could pick up while blind… Was… to take for myself… I don't like to eat in front of strangers though. You? Really think you can just try to eat me? Bahahahahhaha! Ever get a mouthful of spines before? Also what better answer could I have given? Also should you be aware that Drakkollis are never awake during the day and sleep until the night? We also never travel on our own. I am a nocturnal being and I couldn't see a thing outside because I was blinded by the light, simply we are beings of the night, the darkness and shadows. Also that we are great hunters and scavengers. With that we almost never go hungry."

He said all that he was to say for an answer at the moment. He did not lie but has not said everything. Then he suddenly stretched out lying down on his belly yawning tiredly, "Sleep and rest is all I truly need at the moment but it seems you have not been able to go hunting. If you hunted there would be no protection of the nest and if you never hunted… I see this is where you have wound up… You either have lost your mate or he has never come back for a long while… as with me I have my lost my mate…"

He had his head down and then began to nibble on the food pushed towards him but as soon as he actually tasted it he then hungrily gobbled it up. He was after all hungry but had refused the food at first but now couldn't just hold back because of the hunger of not eating after having expending his energy of using his magic.

She was smart enough to know that the being was bad news. she curled around her nest and continued to growl. she was not happy with his answer but did not have the strength to keep standing. he came looking for a pet and now he was in her cave. but the looks and talk of his child reminded her of who he was. "Your the man that killed the pirate in anger and cold blood." She stated. "Also your a Drakkollis witch means you cant get lost." she flicked her tail witch nocked over a stalagmite than laid it over the nest.

She also saw it strange that he did not eat. if he was truly lost he would be hungry and would not have rejected the food. "now state your reason for being hear or get lost before I make you disappear." she growled. than looked at the girl. She stopped growling to say "I know you mean well but his kind does not go in a dragons den simply cause there lost. also if any of his words are creatable he could still mean harm and i am not chancing it." she returned her attention to the male and again started to growl.

Gale merely watched and listened as the two spoke. It appeared that the dragon and the third person were already working things out between themselves, so there was no need for her to interject. The cooked meat was now cool enough to eat, so she took one piece and ate. Seeing how the strange creature looked at the meat, it was clear it desired to eat but held back from doing so. Noticing this, she took a large leaf she had cleaned in a stream and dried in the heat of the fire and places a few of the larger pieces of meat on top. The dream-walker then got up from her seat and placed it close to the third being, then returned to her place. Once the cooked meat was finished, she would work on cleaning and cooking another animal. She had brought a few wolf carcasses in but now wondered if it would be enough for all three of them. A quick look at the light outside told her if she wished to hunt again, she would have to eat quickly.

Between bites of meat she ate some of the berries  she had foraged earlier, thinking of what else she could find as food. Meat would not be enough; some edible roots and plants would balance the meal but she knew little aside from the vegetables she had seen in markets. Perhaps birds eggs? She was sure eggs were edible when cooked, regardless the bird it came from. The fowl themselves were much harder to catch and she had no real experience in hunting.

Darkhor was just beginning to calm down and lax until the white dragon suddenly stood up and then asked him a question. He also saw the woman was looking to him expectantly for him to eat the food which was fairly surprising to the Drakkollis. He took the moment to think of his answer carefully, "I… I came here lost… I wandered from the city, this time too far. I was only searching for something to get my son a little something.  A new food, a new pet possibly. Whatever I was to find for my only child." He then slowly came out showing himself completely then continued, "I came to a tavern… I believe it was The Winking Mermaid and I… became desperate asking for someone to help. However he now is well and I thankful for the help. After all that he asked of me to come look for something new for him to play with. I am sorry to have intruded upon your nest. I have no intentions of ever harming your young."

The Drakkollis finally had made it to the fire and stared at Gale but was more importantly focusing on the dragon that stood before him. He was small in comparison to her but he did not want to be hurt or else eaten alive possibly by her. Darkhor couldn't think of much else what to do, "I do not want to take any kill that was worked hard for if it was not for I. Preferably if I have hunted for those in need and of myself but then I would die to save my own son."

He sniffed the meat and then sniffed harder the slit in between his nostrils and where his top lip would be opened up slightly to get in a much stronger scent. He opened his mouth as to take a bite but snapped away quickly, refraining from eating anything..

The one egg was not glowing as bright as the rest witch worried her a bit. when she looked back at the girl she noticed she was looking else where. she than caught the new smell. part dragon and male but not her mate. she whet defensive in seconds standing to her full height and wings half open. she let out a low growl as she looked at the newcomer.

she had felt she had met him before but she could not remember where. "state your reason for entering." she stated. she was still weak but she could seam strong long enough to scare a threat. but she felt shaky and knew she would not be able to stand long. the girl was no threat to her but a part dragon was and by nature one should not enter another den for territorial reasons in the least. and with her eggs she would be a good bit ore protective. She eventually backed back up beside her eggs so if her legs gave she would still be near them.

Gale watched the white dragon eat, pleased that it still had the strength to do so. That was a good thing. As long as it could eat, then it surely would recover. She remembered how worried she had been back home when one of the pigeons she had fed routinely wasn't eating as much. After bringing it to her teacher, he discovered it had caught some dried brambles in its feathers, and once the barbs were removed it was in good health again. It was then she heard footsteps from behind. Turning to look, she saw a dark, towering figure enter the cave entrance. Its arrival was followed by strange chirping noises. She couldn't see the figure's form very clearly, but she stared at it unblinking for a long time. Not because she was afraid, but because she was trying to focus her eyes to see what she was looking at. The new presence in the cave seemed thin as well, and Gale wondered if it was hungry too.

Smelling a bit of char coming from the fire, she remembered that meat had been cooking and pulled the pieces off quickly. Careful not to drop them she fanned them with a light breeze to help them cool faster. Setting them down to wait for when they were cooled enough to eat safely, she looked at the third being again expectantly. She knew not if they understood or spoke a common language, so she did not assume. If the person was hungry, she was willing to share.

Darkhor would walk out when it was still bright out struggling to see what was in front of him. He had wandered further than he would usually and he too was tired and knew almost nothing about the wilds other than to hunt down swallowing large animals whole. The Drakkollis only followed his own instincts which seemed to know what to do and how to survive out in the wilds.

Sniffing the air a scent of many things caught his sensitive nostrils, picking apart each of which smell a few caught more of his own interests. He picked up a scent trail along in the forest but stopped when the smell of cooking food wafted and followed it then thought to himself, "If there is food cooking then there must be someone nearby. A person, a humanoid of sorts but I cannot tell if he or she or of how many there are or of that if they are hostile, neutral or even friendly."

The Drakkollis, the half faerie half dragon would bump and fall over often as he moved about. Then finally after a few miles traveling he happened upon what he saw was a cave. A rather large cave and chittered happily at most feeling more at home and much safer to be at. He slinked inside within the cave entrance and having been practically blinded out in the open which now was getting dark.

His eyes had to adjust which in a few minutes he was able to see in the dark which was so easy to see around. Darkhor made more chittering and soft hissing sounds prowling about the cave. The Drakkollis as it came in closer a fire with a wolf carcass cooking, a woman and a large dragon with her eggs which glowed. With his skeletal and frail looking body he slowly approached his dragon like wings spreading out to his sides as if in a defensive posture then it struck him.

This dragon here seemed to be familiar but he couldn't figure out why it was. His eyes glowed a bright blue though pupiless and his skull like face he kept hidden from them. He was somewhat afraid that he would be attacked suddenly but even though he was trying to keep as silent as possible a chirp left his mouth echoing and his eyes widened as he stiffened in fear. He was about ready to puff up like a puffer fish to defend himself from any possible hostility.

The Drakkollis felt his eyes start to water trying to fight the instinct to puff up into a defensive ball of spines and curled his long thin bony tail unfurling it trapped in the anticipation of what could possibly happen to him now. Darkhor’s breathing now felt restricted and was completely stock still and hoped that they didn’t notice him at all, hoping that his black and dark grey skin would blend in with the darker areas of the cave.

He watched as the white dragon had turned to the wolf offered to her. The dragon took it, ripped it apart and ate the pieces of meat before wrapping itself around the eggs from which he heard squeaks from inside the nest. Then came to the realization that the dragon was thin and seemed hungry.

He saw it was obviously a mother of those eggs as he tell immediately that it was female by his sense of smell. He waited still and now almost lost the fear of being seen, curiosity made the Drakkollis want to see the eggs hatch. The thought made Darkhor happy and excited somewhat but the fact that he was a stranger to them could affect their behavior towards them. His only hope at this very moment was that there would be no hostility.

She slowly watched the girl for a bit. She looked around before moving closer slowly she grabbed the wolf in her jaws than backed up. She ripped it apart before eating part of it. the other part she placed in the nest for the young that would soon hatch. She than rapped around the nest and looked back at the girl. she tilted her head in question.

a squeak came from the nest and she turned her head to look. the eggs grew bright with the effort they where using to get out and would die down when they rested. Seeing they where fine she again turned to the girl and watched her.

While Gale was still drifting within the reaches of slumber, the meat was cooking over the fire. The rest of the wolf carcasses she had yet to clean were sitting nearby, the smell of blood hanging in the air. The dream-walker laid breathing and dreaming, as the dragon had awakened. As she had watched the dream unfold, she thought about what she had seen. Was this related to the dragon by the nest? It was likely, as dreams always held a grain of truth within their images. The second dragon she saw must have been the first one's mate. The dragon with light brown scales had been snared by people, or had not returned after a long period of time. The turbulence of the environment signified anxiety, uncertainty, and worry. These were easy to discern with her experience.

What she was sure of was the white dragon was alone, and had been alone for a while. With no one to hunt while the other kept the eggs warm, protecting the offspring was its foremost priority. When the dream dissipated, she was back to wandering the realm of dreams by herself again. The smell of food wafted by her nostrils and drew her from her reverie. Opening her eyes, she rubbed them and went to check if the meat was done. It was then she saw she was being watched, and took care not to make any sudden movements. She looked at the meat and then at the dragon. She motioned with her hand towards the food, as if asking if it would like to eat with her.

She looked at the two legged that had approached her. She sat up with a growl as she seen the girl had weapons. she stopped and turned as a dear got a good bit closer than the rest. she quickly leaned over and bit into it. it turned to dust in her jowls. the weather changed to a storm. she looked around tell she saw her other. a light brown dragon with a glowing blue streak down his back. two leggeds surrounded him and started throwing a net over him as he fought agent it his wing tore. Vinsue jumped up and tried to attack but she was unnoticed and they where untouched by her. once she realized he was now dead she spread her wings and tried to fly off just to be ensnared herself. the men turned and started attacking her.

She awoke. and in doing so she almost fell from her perch. she looked down to see the egg ok than she saw the fire and the woman. she climbed down and laid herself over the eggs and watched the woman.

Time seemed to freeze as she stood stock still, waiting for the beast to open its eyes. When it did not, her body relaxed and she exhaled slowly. She was thankful to the stars that she would not have to face an angry mother defending her children. However, as her eyes adjusted to the darkness she saw how gaunt the dragon looked. Empathizing with its plight, she thought it best to help it as meager as her abilities were. They both were tired and hungry, and for the time being–were not enemies. The dream-walker wondered why there was only one dragon, instead of two. Birds would have the parents search for food while keeping watch over the nest, so why wouldn't dragons be the same? She didn't think more about it though, and left the safety of the cave to forage.

She knew little of the plants here, having lived her life among people. The most she knew about wilderness survival was hunting animals and learning to see which fruits were safe to eat. She gathered as many berries as she could find, and brought them back. They wouldn't be enough for such a large creature like a dragon, so she went to hunt for food. While outside, she encountered the wolves again, but this time she didn't run away. She did not wish to cause bloodshed, but she had to eat and so did the beast whose home she was residing in at the moment. With swift slashes and strikes from her katars, the wolves were felled. She prayed over the corpses, thanking the heavens for their provision and wishing their spirits a safe journey into the great beyond. With difficulty she brought the wolves' carcasses back and started a fire using her power over flame. A pile of kindling and tinder was all she needed to make a primitive campfire, and her katars served as makeshift carving implements to cut the fur and gristle away from the meat. She had remembered seeing how a woman in the Highlands had cleaned an animal in preparation for cooking, and followed what she had seen to the best of her memory. As the meat cooked over the fire she waited, soon drifting off to sleep.

In the world of dreams, she found herself in what looked like a forest. The trees looked similar to those she had passed outside the cave in the waking world, and deer were running past her. She wondered why they didn't seem afraid, when she saw the same dragon from before in a clearing attempting to chase after the leaping does and bucks. Although it possessed powerful wings and sinews, it always missed catching the deer. Was this the dream of the dragon? It was rare for her to enter the dreams of those around her unintentionally. Being ever vigilant, she approached the owner of the dream and waved. She did not know how it would react. Maybe it would think she too was part of the dream around them.

Vinsue had not awoken when the intruder came for her hunger, pain, and lack of sleep have driven her into a deeper sleep. one of the eggs started to wiggle about and its glow lowered a bit. the other two stayed the same. the dragon had not move. In her dream she was being taunted by dear each just out of her grasp. she laid down ready to give up.

There was the sound of someone stumbling in the dark of the cave, and a sound of pain as the person got up from her fall. "Ouch…I think I've finally lost them." Gale turned to look outside the entrance, checking if the wild beasts which had been pursuing her were still there. It was strange that they had stopped following once she was in sight of the cave. Was it due to a fear of darkness? Ever thankful for the respite from being chased, she sat down and leaned against the cave wall. It was then that she noticed a faint light from within, coming from a small pile situated near the center. Were those stones? They were blue and green, reminiscent of peacock feathers. She had never seen glowing stones before. As she got up and came closer she saw they were sitting in a bed of grass and straw, and by chance looked up. Her mouth widened as she held her breath, for above the stones she realized were eggs was a large dragon.

Her body froze as her mind went blank. She tried to back away but her legs wouldn't move, leaving her staring up at the beast in reverential fear and wonder. She tried to speak, but no words came out. It was as if she had been made mute and petrified upon seeing it. The dream-walker understood why the beasts had left her alone now. It was because the cave belonged to something big, something powerful.

Three green and blue eggs sat in the nest. Each one worth a large fortune in the market. each close to hatching. It had been a couple weeks since her last meal. Vinsue stayed in her true form still recovering from laying the eggs. her lover she assumes is dead and soon she as well may be for she was still to week to leave the cave and hunt. Even if she could leave she would not leave the eggs unprotected. She would not let them go through what she went through.

she had raped herself around the eggs and laid down asleep. Her bones showed her lack of food. She knew she was on her own but she hoped some one or thing may help her. The glow from the eggs was the only light in the dark cave.
