Ever since leaving the lands of Dae Luin, there seemed to be no place for the man once known as a great healer. Trying to find a place for him and his son, became no easy task. First, he had to find somewhere that was safe. Well safer then most places. The plains, became that place. Borrowing a horse and a wagon was not easy, but with some slick talk, he managed to find someone willing to lend him a wagon and horse. Having his son sit on the bench, Haden started to load up wood. As he loaded a plan came to mind, he would build a farm. There was nothing else for him to do in this world, especially now that he was no longer living with his wife.

Once enough wood was loaded, he ensured to borrow hammer and buy a ton of nails. Climbing into the wagon, he patted his sons head and set off in search of the best place for the two of them to live. Hours of traveling through the plains, they arrived near a creek. Parking the horse and wagon, he hopped out and helped his son down. "Go play Martris, let your father work." Watching his son take off into the creek, he began gathering flat stones.

Taking out a few of the sturdier prices of wood he made a base frame for the foundation. Making the house twenty feet wide and fifty feet long, he lined out the two bedrooms, the bathroom, and the main area or kitchen and living room. Going back to the stones he started to lay them in the ground inside the frame to make a stone floor.

Gathering pebbles from the creek, he lined them in the cracks to fill-in the empty spots. Grabbing the hammer and nails, he began to nail the frame together. Going back to the wagon, he grabbed a bunch of boards, and carried them over to the short side of the house.  Lining them up in a wall, he nailed them to the pieces that would make up the roof. Once that was set, he took the horse off the harness and tied a rope to him. Using the hoses strength, he pulled the side up and hammered it down.

Untying the horse, he led him to the other side where he repeated the process. Gathering more wood, he made the back wall, leaving holes for windows. By the time this finished, he was worn out and out of his sweaty shirt. Tossing it on the wagon, he began with the last of the walls. After nailing it down, and checking how sturdy it was,he began to climb with a pocket full of nails.

Nailing the flat part of the wall to the side where the roof is, he secured it all together. Making sure it was all nailed and secured, he hopped back down. Making the same frames as the sides, he formed a roof and took each piece up and nailed it down to finish the roof.

Getting Martris out of the creek, he laid him down in the back, before pulling on his shirt and heading back into town. Using more of his wealth, he bought bark that was shaved off the trees in full sheets. Getting some glass and a few doors, he ran his hands through his long black hair, then beard. "Maybe some thick sheets of padded leather for the inside walls." Getting more then he needed, he loaded it all in the wagon and headed back to the house.

Letting Martris go back to the creek, he unloaded the shaved bark and began to nail it to the inside walls. Once the rooms were made, he stuffed the padded leather in between the beams, to keep the place somewhat warm. Nailing more bark into place, he inserted the glass into the window frames.  Tacking up the doors, he walked back out to the front and sat down looking at his handy work.

"Martris, this is our new home." Wiping off the sweat he chuckled softly. "Our home.. Tomorrow I will do the front porch, the barn, and the silo. This will be a farm, or ranch. I don't know yet." Pulling off his shirt, he tossed it at the front door and laid back in the twilight filled grass.  Resting for a bit, he rose and headed back to town. Buying more wood for the projects, he spent almost the last of his money on furniture for the house.

Going back to the farm house, he laid out the foundation for the porch, barn, and silo. Looking around for Martris, he noticed the boy was no where to be found. Groaning, he unharnessed the horse and road around the area, finally finding him under a tree. Loading him on the horse he put the boy in the back of the wagon, letting him sleep.

Sighing, he decided to use the last of his energy to begin the long job of nailing the boards together for the front porch. It would be a short porch, but it would do. Stretching and hearing his bones pop, he decided to call it a night. Crawling into the wagon, he fell into a light and uneasy sleep.

Soon after midnight, he awoke from the same nightmare that plagued him for a long time.  Shaking his head, he crawled out of the wagon and went to work, once again.  By sun up, the silo was finished and the barn was almost done. Installing the doors, he shut them and dropped to the ground. "Finally done with the buildings, now to build a fence and get something together make the fields, so I can grow crops. I wonder what I should grow." At that thought, he drifted off into a deep sleep against the barn doors.
