She decided she hated the sounds of war. While there was no clashing of metal on metal due to the type of enemy they faced, there were still the screams of the injured and dying which attempted not to be drowned out by battle cries. How had her mother been able to stomach the stench of death as she ran around fighting evil with Gabriel? Did she hold a poor victim as they died, their injuries too great to heal them from? Foolishly, Raziel hugged a cooling boy to her chest, allowing a moment of remorse for the loss.

He felt like he was in his prime and she imagined that he was a farm boy who dreamed of being a soldier. After his chores were done, he would practice his self taught sword art. To die so young… Raziel did not have the time to finish this thought, as another cry of pain sounded near. Carefully laying the boy who died the moment she got to him down, the half-angel stood, snapped her fingers at Mikhail who was standing guard near his master. Mikhail had grown since the day she had nearly drowned, especially in his obedience. His job was to protect the angel as he guided her to each fallen warrior.

It did not take long for Mikhail to learn the difference between dead and injured. Thus, the wolf would carefully avoid those who could not be saved by his master as they made their way to someone who could be helped. Raziel fell to her knees at the side of the next man. Her voice was soothing. "My name is Raziel. I am here to help." She quickly found the stump of his arm and began to pour her mana into it with her healing spell. There was not enough time for anyone to be treated without magic in the midst of chaos. "Duck!" The patient called out, grabbing his sword and swinging above her head.

She could feel the disturbance of the air as the weapon displaced it in its arc. Hot blood showered over her, a shocked expression frozen on her face as her patient got up and charged the next creature which threatened the battlefield medic. Mikhail gave a quick warning yip as he tried to tug on Raziel's clothing, but he was not quick enough. The chomper's body fell heavily upon the angel, pinning her flat beneath it. The wind was knocked out of her lungs, the weight of the creature making it impossible for her to take a breath. Fear flooded through the angel as she struggled. She couldn't move from under it, couldn't breathe, and panic was beginning to set in, rational thought melting into one question. 'Is this how I die?'
