She remembered falling from the sky and that she could not reach her wings. Did she always have wings? Or was she a four legged beast? She had memories of swimming in the sea, and running through the forest on paws, and climbing trees with leaps and claws. And flying. Those her brought a sense of freedom, she wanted to hang onto that feeling. She wanted to ignore the dread growing in the back of her mind.

She remembered being a mother, having a husband, being surrounded by animals of all sizes. Some mighty and ferocious. Others gentle and small. She remembered her name. Rai-Lynn Kisa McNamara. She was a shifter. A healer. None of it mattered, she was none of those. Her magic was in shock. She had been taking care of her family when she felt tugs of magic pulling her outside. Curiosity was begging her to see, so she went. Nerthus had followed. The red wolf never left her side unless forced too.

She tried to force herself to remember what happened next, but it was painful. The only glimpse she could see was a white wolf and bear running towards her and then blackness. There was a shot of pain in her heart of grief. She could not remember their names, but it felt like her heart was breaking. Her family was somewhere she couldn't remember and she had a feeling she'd never see them again.

She took stock of herself. She had one family member with her. The red wolf Nerthus, Nerry for short, had somehow managed to follow her. She was dressed in plain robes. Nothing else from her previous life was with her. She could start anew. Focusing on all the blackness she had in her mind, she pushed it back down into the darkest parts of her mind. Hidden with other things she would not remember. She locked it away. She would keep her basic memories. She was a shifter. A healer. And she had found a new life. All she could was go forward with it. 

She took a deep breath, set her hand on Nerry's head and took a step towards the fading sunlight. Rai-Lynn Kisa McNamara. She would make herself known.
