Crystaline laughed a bit and shook her head. “Perhaps but I would always need to actually know where my opponent is. Sometimes I often talk in the wrong way to people direction wise. Maybe eventually I’ll see auras again. Grandfather Judge taught me to do that.” It felt weird to have her magic so cut off from everything else. She took a deep breath as she moved her hand over to his, after taking a few moments to find it, and gave it a good squeeze.
The Angelic Rosenite took a moment to try to move her eerie light blue eyes towards him. It was like staring into a vast crystal ball. “I like that idea, we have a lot to talk about.” She chuckled softly as her hands moved up to take his face. Her fingers moving around as if it were the first time they had met once more. “I did once upon a time. When I was in the forest with my mother, I had a horse. I can’t tell you the color or how big he was. I just know he was there. I cherished him until I couldn’t find him anymore. I couldn’t find anyone anymore. That was when Aunt Toya came to get me. I think something happened but I was never told anything about it. What happened to my home, my horse, my family.”
Even through the painful past she gave a smile as if it did not bother her. “I came to live with Aunt Angela and she had a lot of pets that I found myself around. Her Nightmare Kyoto was one. I can’t tell you his color or how big he was.” She repeated herself but gave a gentle smile. “But I can tell you he was warm and he had a soul of gold. Those are the most important things right there.”
Taking a moment she smiled. “I do know what your horse looked like because you told me. He was brown with white socks… you had taken him but you told me you were giving him back, I called bullshit if I remember right.” She chuckled softly as she moved her hands down his face.
She leaned down from the bench and moved her hands until she found an aster. She knew this one well. It was one of the first flowers that Vadimas had taught her about. She took his fingers and gently like he would her lift them to the petals. “Close your eyes.” She trusted him to follow her words. “It’s an Aster. They are generally purple like my court but they are bright in color.” She was off about the one in her hand but she was trying. “Sometimes they aren’t bright and are light in color. They have many petals and remind me of daisies. They smell good too.” She reached up and felt his nose before lifting the flower, she didn’t want to smash the flower into his nose after all.

While he did know how to kiss, Vadimas had most often used it as a prelude to a night or two of pleasure for his lady of choice. But this time different, and he knew that his affections would belong to her alone from this point on. That seemed to make it all the sweeter. He laughed at her reaction to the other Oracles, and realized that Bryony was probably right.
"Perhaps you can work on your verbal sparring, that will be quite a weapon. Especially when people will likely already underestimate you," he suggested. And there were plenty of people in Arri that would be good teachers for Crystaline.
He nodded, looking around for other flowers to show her. Even if she could not see them, he would still help her to understand their beauty.
"I think we should just enjoy each others company, and learn a bit more about each other. I must admit that I've kept myself somewhat distanced from you, my lady. For example, I cannot recall if you've ever had a pet or not," he said with a chuckle. There was a reason for the question, though one she would not find out until later.

A smile brightened on the girl’s face as she felt good about their future. “Good! I have a lot to teach.” She felt his face for a moment before bringing his head down t hers and kissing him softly. It would be one of many he would receive as he learned how to love her.
Her fingers weaved with his and she giggled lightly. “I can imagine them. You will have to describe their faces to me Dear.” She gave another smile as she leaned her head onto his shoulder. She sat next to him on the bench and felt the flower with her fingertips. As always her touch was soft and slow as she did not want to damage the flower.
“I love the sky, sea, and your eyes.” She chuckled a bit as she tried to be romantic. She leaned onto him once more as she took his hands and held his finger so she could run it softly across the flower like she had to. “It smells good doesn’t it?” She laughed lightly.
Taking the book she brought with her, she set it aside. “I don’t think we should read today but explore.. I guess us? Is there anything you would like to ease into?”

His shoulders relaxed when Crystaline accepted the secret that he had to tell. it was something that not everyone could understand, but Vadimas had a quiet faith in the young woman. Bryony's words echoed in his mind as well, and it was in that moment that he knew that they would never be apart. Unless it was absolutely necessary, anyway.
"No. Then we can face it together. And I will take your lessons gladly, my dear," he said, more warmth in his voice than he had felt for quite awhile. There had been no reason for so long.
He was rather amused at her observation of the other Oracles and how they would react.
"Oh you are quite right about that. They will be green with jealousy. It's probably best that you don't see them. The death stares will be something," he said with a laugh. It was highly amusing to Vadimas, and he was certain that some of the Oracles would have a nasty surprise coming.
"That is a clematis, Crystaline. They come in many colors, but that is in a pale blue. Almost like my eye color, actually. The color of sky and sea. There are many petals on that particular flower, I'm sure you can feel them," he explained.

Crystalline took in his scent as she wrapped herself around him. It was interesting to be cared for in a manner she hadn't in a long time. He was a tad taller than she seemed to remember when she was this close though in her mind she had to remember he didn't tend to be this close to anyone. "No wonder oracles tend to be solitary." She smiled up at him. "I'm not scared of the future Vadi not if you are here."
Another chuckle left her lips as she pulled herself away from him. "I can try and teach you. For the first time I think I am the teacher and you the student." She reached up and found the tip of his nose and kissed it lightly. Crystalline knew that he often ran away after his trysts but that was fine to her.
Taking his hand she took him out of the room. Putting her hand to the wall she felt along it and tried to find her way down to the gardens. "At least now the other oracles will be jealous of me." She tried to make him laugh. "Wish I could see their faces." She teased him lightly. "I'm sure Bryony will tell me how much of a pain I am the next time she is in the city." She chuckled lightly.
With his help they got down to the garden and were able to sit down on the bench. She felt the sun on her face and the desert heat on her skin. She stretched and reached past him to feel a flower. It was like silk against her skin. "What color is this one?"

For the first time in longer than he cared to admit, Vadimas found himself content. Taking her hands into one of his, and wrapping his other arm around her in a protective manner, he hugged her close. He wanted for Crystaline to feel safe around him, and Vadimas knew she had been through a lot already.
"Well, I should tell you something first. One of our secrets is that Oracles lose the ability to see the future of those close to us. Though I fear perhaps it is already too late for that, my dear," he admitted with a chuckle. But Crystaline deserved to know of what she was getting into.
He sighed for just a moment, not quite knowing where to start.
"Perhaps it would be best to start from the beginning… I've never actually courted anyone for their affection before. Most of the time, I am the one being approached," he said, amusement in his voice. Vadimas had of course told her of his trysts, nothing specific, but she did know. And Crystaline would now know those days were over.

Crystaline felt the change in the area for a moment. Normally he was composed but she could fell it in the air. She felt his hand on hers and calmed down greatly. Normally she could feel and taste the atmosphere change but this time it felt so warm to her she thought she felt her body begin to sweat.
"All you ever had to do was ask Vadimas." She swore she felt a blush come across her pale flesh. It was weird when the man you cared about was normally against being so close but something appeared to change. Her hand went up his arm and she found herself close to him. She wrapped her arms around him and kissed his cheek before snuggling into him.
It felt like she should ask him what changed but why ask about something good? She closed her eyes and leaned back to give him a smile. "So… We have a damn long time if you want to stay with me… Where should we start?"

As she spoke of her nightmares, Vadimas stiffened for a moment. He had known that Crystalline had been through a lot, and that it haunted her still. But he hadn't know to the extent. Placing his other hand over her own, he felt a desire to make her feel safe.
"Crystalline, I will never allow such a thing to happen to you again. Never. If… if you would have me, I will stay with you and by your side," he said, voice quiet but sincere. The choice was hers to make, and Vadimas waited silently, waiting for an answer. Hopefully Bryony had been right.

Holding onto the book tightly she thought about their options and laughed softly. "Actually I am hoping for a change. Since I am not too use to the area around me I was hoping we could do something rather different. How about eating and reading in the garden this morning? That sounds rather refreshing, that is if Mother would allow us to do so."
Her hair was braided up from when she slept most likely from when he had left. It probably had been done by Cathrine. The halfling found him and took his hand gently. She had noticed the rather odd warmth in his voice. It was different than most days as if he had woken up rather well but also she could tell he was tired. The thoughts confused her so she pushed it out of the way.
"I had some terrible dreams but they are probably different from what a seeing person would have." She gave him a frown but tried to push it into a smile. "Mostly from what my brothers did to me." The scars on her back began to itch as she spoke about it. "I can't see it but I can feel it and hear it. The ripping and tearing. The crying." She held onto his hand tighter as she thought about it.
Pushing the thoughts away she shook her head. "I just want to be in the garden no stories this morning. I suddenly don't have much of an appetite either." it happened every once in a while with the halfling as she relived what she lost. Mostly it was good for her to share with at least Vadimas what plagued her mind. It was true that she couldn't see but her other senses were so much sharper and that hurt the most.
"Please? I'll try to eat afterwards."

It wasn't until he heard Crystaline carefully moving around the room did Vadimas finally stir himself. He hadn't realized quite how tired he was until he saw the sunlight streaming into the room. "Morning indeed. And good morning, my dear. I hope you slept well, Crystaline," he said, warmth in his voice. As he regarded her for a few moments, he silently called himself fool for wanting to run away from her. It would have only hurt both of them. At least Bryony had found him before he had gotten too far, and Vadimas knew he would have to thank her again for it later.
"Would you like to read first, then breakfast? There is another garden I think you might like after that," he said. It was a garden designed for touch and scent, so it was perfect for Crystaline. And it was there he would pour out his heart, even if he was nervous has hell about the whole idea. Bryony had better have been right about this whole thing.

Bryony gave her use to be apprentice a smile as she reached over and rubbed his hair. "I can do whatever I want because I am an adult. Besides I think that Crystaline can keep all the women away. She may be blind but the girl has power in her. She won't let them corner you if she has you anyways." Bry offered him a smile before turning away from him and tapping her glaive on her shoulder she gave him a smile.
"I'll take care of it. Yeah yeah. Go get your woman." She waved him off before disappearing.
—
Crystalline was in her slumber land. Her dreams weren't as dark as her sight was. There were colors and they reminded her of Vadimas. She woke up once she felt refreshed and stretched her arms as she yawned before pulling herself up. "Vadi?" She yawned more as she rubbed at her cloudy eyes.
"Vadi?" She said again as she felt for the edge of the bed and pulled herself over. "I think it's morning?" She reached over and felt the window. It burnt her hand from the sun but she shook her head. "It's morning." She got to her feet and felt around. "You won't be the early bird today." She was teasing him as she tried to find her favorite morning book.

It wasn't until Bryony said something about them being happy around each other that Vadimas realized the huge mistake he was making. Or had almost made at any rate.
"I've gotten so used to running. Even ran to an entirely new world after you left… Don't ever do that again and leave me with all the Oracles again, I beg you! I thought they were going to corner me sooner rather than later," he said with a theatrical shudder. But it wasn't entirely feigned, Rosen males were rather rare. Much to his dismay.
A sly grin crossed his face after a moment.
"You know, if I do this, it's going to make quite a few females unhappy… I expect your help in dealing with that, oh First Oracle," he said with a raised eyebrow and smartass grin. It was only fair after all, it was very rare that anyone would even dare think of crossing Bryony or going against her word. If nothing else, it would protect Crystaline.
He didn't need any more encouraging after that, and hurried back to the manor. She was still sleeping when Vadimas re-entered the room, and he threw the letter into the fire. There was no need for her to ever know of the words that had been contained on that paper. There was a couch in against the wall, and it was there the Oracle laid down to sleep. His words could wait for the morning.

Bryony stared at him for a long moment after she had finished hitting him. "Oh the hell it would be. You still have much to learn about life." She had heard the emotion in his voice. "You've been so intent on running you have no idea how you feel."
She sighed a bit before rubbing his white hair. "A big idiot. You don't need to see her future because you are her future. I have faith in you that as long as you are with her that she will be happy. You two have been happy around each other for a while. You after all these years deserve this. I lost my chance don't just throw yours away."
Bryony smiled at him and shook her head. "Now she is still asleep so whatever you've done you can undo. I don't she'll forgive you easily if she finds whatever you left." She shooed him towards the Purple Court Manor. "Go and get happiness damn it."

So lost in his thoughts was Vadimas that he didn't even realize that his mentor was present until she spoke. And by then, it was too late to try and escape. He let out an undignified yelp as the beating started, and he tried to shelter himself as best he could. He should have known that Bryony would know what he was trying to do.
"Ow! Stop hitting me and I'll -owdamnit- tell you!" he snapped, finally ducking away from the blows for a moment.
With a quick shake of his head, Vadimas was vehement in his refusal to go back.
"No. It's better this way. I don't need to be any further attached to her than I already am," he said. There was a rare hint of emotion in his voice, almost quiet despair. He truly did not want to leave, but Vadimas had been running away from attachment for so long it was the only way that he knew how to react. And it was in those words he recognized just what he felt for the young Crystaline and groaned to himself. It was probably already too late.
"I'm being an idiot, aren't I?" he asked, a sheepish grin on his face. Bryony was one of the very few people he ever opened up to, and this was one of those rare times that he was asking for advice. Without actually asking, of course. There were some things he just would not do.

They had her doing all the boring stuff. She flipped the pages of the book as she checked names and wrote them. Finally though there was a slight glimmer to her eyes as she felt her apprentice and son like boy Vadimas return home. "Do you think he's here to stay?" She flickered her eyes over to a long haired woman.
"Maybe but then again maybe you should enforce him to stay. You don't see what he's about to do because you are too close to the boy."
Bryony cocked an eyebrow for a moment. "I'm listening." From there a wild tale was told. It took from the time he took Crystaline on her walk until they got back to the room. From there she grabbed her glaive and looked at the other oracle. "I'm gonna kill him."
"Just be easy on the poor boy."
"Oh I'll make sure he's alive… It's not like we can't do that." She smiled wickedly before leaving and climbing up onto the gate of Arri. She stared down as she noticed the white haired man. "Where the FUCK do you think you are going?" She hopped down and began a merciless beating with her glaive at least on the none sharp side. It was just like the times when he was a troubled young boy.
"I will not let you make this mistake." She stopped to get a clear look at him. "You need to go back. NOW." There was a motherly tone to it. "Or so help me by the grace of the Matron Mother I will beat you into oblivion until you understand."

There was something sad in the girl's voice, and he was beginning to have second thoughts once more. But Vadimas steeled himself, and kept his voice smooth and pleasant. He needed for her to feel comfortable here, and that she would adjust.
"It is a shock, I know. But think of all the stories I've told you of Arri before I crossed over. And of the many people that are your family. We protect each other, you just have to give them a chance and let them in," he said with a shrug that he knew she could not see. It at least made him feel better.
The walk to the night garden was not a long one, and the place was much as he remembered. That was good. Taking her hand, Vadimas helped the girl to touch one of the flowers.
"That is a night-glory, a cousin to morning-glory vines. They have a slight glow when the moon's light makes them open," he explained. The petals were smooth and pleasant feeling, and often a favorite of maidens for decorating their hair. They continued walking, and he showed her other flowers that only showed their true beauty in the night. Lillies, roses, moonflowers, and many others were present, each with their own scent. And Vadimas took care that he showed the girl each one the best he could, knowing that Crystaline might well not forgive him for what he was soon to do.
They talked of small things on the way back to the room, and Vadimas reassured her that she would be fine here. Once he could tell that she was asleep, he left the note where a servant would see it and be able to read it to Crystaline quickly. Strolling through the darkened streets of Sularia, he considered just where he wanted to visit first. Somewhere far away from here. He only prayed that the girl would not be fool enough to try and follow him.

“It’s still odd Vadimas. I’m not use to even being around my family.” She had a bit of a whimper to her as she thought about how she was abandoned on the step of her aunt’s. Now that she knew where her mother got stuck she was glad to be home but still there was a sense of loss to her. “I don’t know these people! I know you and I know Aunt Angela.” It was hard for her to cope with for a moment as she drifted around the room. Her emotions got her distracted as she tripped herself up.Once she was awake from her nap and no longer in a state of emotional distress she pulled herself over to where the sandwiches were. She could smell the tea and gave a light smile. “I will enjoy it for sure. Even if I need to see I know you can describe it to me. You’ve always been good to me that way Vadi.” She felt for the cup and took it gently into her fragile looking hands.“I’ve never been to a night garden before I’m excited. I hope we get to walk it a lot when we come back for visits.” She had her mind set on going with him it appeared.

He heard the words, though Vadimas' mind was working quickly. There was guilt building, and he knew it was time.
"And I agree with those words still. There are others here that see things differently, just as you do. And yet others that would help you learn to refine your aura sight. Here, we're home. We're among family. It isn't like Daeluin, where we were exotic strangers," he said. He froze for a moment when she touched his face again, but it was simply her way of seeing what her eyes could not. There was a chuckle when she described him like a season, that was a first.
Once she fell to sleep, he began crafting a pair of letters. The first was to Bryony. It was a simple thing, informing her that he and Crystaline had returned to these lands. And that he would find her, soon enough. There were certain things he had to take care of first though, and Vadimas knew that she would understand his nomadic ways. The second was more painful. He would have to have someone trusted read it to the girl, and only hope that she would understand. He told only the truth. That he had started to care for her, and that would have consequences he did not want to face. That he would lose his ability to protect her through his second sight. That separating himself was only for her good.
When twilight fell, he ordered a light supper for them both. Rosepetal tea woke Crystaline up, and there were some sandwiches.
"Once we finish, I will take you to one of the night gardens. Something you do not have to see to enjoy," he said, the smile returning to his voice.

Crystaline felt the objects around the room and listened to Vadimas's soothing voice. If she had to put a picture to the way he spoke she would say he was like summer to her. She had seen pictures from her time spent in the House of Keys as a child. Most of the time she did not speak about the adventures that Judge took her on.
"I see. Bryony has to be here, that one is always the first one to have the news of the world it seems." After all Bryony was the first oracle. She ran her hands over everything and eventually came over to Vadimas. Her hands ran up his shoulders and she felt his face. Perhaps she was looking to see if he was tense. Normally she knew his emotions well. Her empty eyes stared towards him with hardly any blinking. Her facial expression gave more away than her eyes thankfully.
Finally Vadimas moved from her and she sighed. "I know, you've told me before it would be good for me to connect with others." For some reason it felt odd to her to think about all the people she was about to meet. "Vadi?"
His name rolled off her tongue as she followed his foot steps and bumped into him. "Summer. You are like summer." She pushed her mind towards his as it opened up and she flooded him with images of a perfect summer. Rolling hills and blooming flowers. Their scents followed and soon she cut it off and fell onto the bed exhausted. "I know what the seasons look like Vadi and you remind me of summer. When life is at its peak." She laid down on the bed and her eyes closed.
The girl wouldn't have told him she was exhausted but she was gone within a few moment of closing her eyes. Soft breaths left her lips as she finally had a moment to feel safe and not worry about what was around them.

Though he had mostly known Catherine only through repuation, Vadimas knew that every Rosen queen was grateful for a child's return home. And this was no exception. He said nothing for now, letting mother and daughter have their moment. And quietly, he was glad. He could leave Crystaline here with much less of a guilty conscience than he had thought before. It would still be hard on the girl, no doubt, but Vadimas had the best of intentions. He bowed to the queen as she left, and waited for Crystaline to start finding her way around the room.
He said nothing about them staying in the same room, but went onto her next question.
"I think it might be best if we stay here for a few weeks… I need to try and find Bryony. And this is the best place to recuperate from our journey. Leaving from one land for another is always a strain. And your magic is still rather unpredictable," he added. She had slowly been learning to control it, but there were people here who would likely be able to help Crystaline quite a bit.
There was a pen and paper sitting in a desk by the window, and Vadimas moved towards it, speaking as he did.
"For now, rest. I have a few letters to write. People to reconnect with, paths to seek. Then perhaps we can take a walk through one of the gardens," he suggested. Once twilight had fallen, the night gardens would be open, and that would be more suited to Crystaline. She would not have to see the lovely flowers, as their scents were more pronounced in the moons' light.

Her face lit up with excitement as she listened to how he described everything. "You give me such hope Vadimas but I don't know what else they can do for me. As far as I know my sight is a lost cause." There was no sense sugar coating it even though it made her sad on the inside she just sucked it up and kept going. She had been this way all her life and she wasn't expecting that to change.
Crystaline's embrace with her mother was brief but heart warming. It had been a long time since she had even smelled the fragrance of her mother's perfume or felt her skin. She was glad to have that chance for that small while. She held onto Vadimas as they were escorted to their room.
Letting go of him after they were alone she held her hands out and felt around the room for where things were. "We're staying in the same room together." She blushed a bit as she felt both of the beds then she went to a dresser and felt the knobs. "How long do you think we'll be here before we leave Vadimas?"

Cathrine was up at the top of the staircase as they arrived. In her visions she had seen her daughter arriving on the arm of a silver haired man. While her visions were not as clear as an oracle's she knew that it had to be Vadimas. She gave them a warm smile as she picked up her skirts and came down the stairs to greet them.
Though it was a shame about DaeLuin she knew that the time had been coming long before then. When she fell through the portals that had been cracking long before the void creature had come. She leaned over and kissed his cheek before kissing Crystalline's cheek and hugged her close. There was no need for words as they embraced. Crystalline let Vadimas go as she started to cry. Cathrine pet the child's snow hair and nodded over to a servant of the house.
Taking both of them she led them up the stairs and to a bedroom with two beds inside. She did not have to speak for this part but she ushered them in and waved her hands.
"Rest now the journey here has been hard." Her voice sounded through telepathically as she shut the door on them and went back to her room. She knew they would need a break and she was willing to let that happen.
Author: Vadimas, Posted: Sun Dec 6, 2015 6:43 PM, Post Subject: Home [p/r]
They were almost home, the place that Vadimas had considered home for a very long time. Part of the reason was that he did not want to have to deal with all the undue attention he tended to receive… but for Crystaline's sake, he would. At least until she was safely in the arms of her mother. Then Vadimas would find another place to travel. Far away from her. It was only for the best.
"We are quite close. Again, I wish that you could see. the streets are of precious metal, and lanterns light every street at night. Sularia is a place of beauty. And perhaps you will see it," he said, his voice with a touch of reverence. Many had journeyed here just to see the wonders, and perhaps the physicians of Arri could do something for her eyes.
It took only minutes to establish that the second Oracle of the Rosen clan had come home. And he very quickly made it clear that he wanted to get to the Purple Court as quickly as possible. They were escorted through the streets, and Vadimas saw that very little had changed. That was a comfort. He noticed little as they were escorted into the Court itself, and there was only respect in his voice when he spoke again.
"Lady Catherine, I have brought your Crystaline home. Our old home is no longer, and we only have Sularia now," Vadimas said. Of how much of the shattering of their old home was known, he did not know. But all that should matter to the Purple Queen was that her child was safe.

The journey had been a long and tiresome as she leaned forward on her faithful steed. The white haired halfling ran her sun-kissed fingers through his hair and smiled a bit. He always knew what she wanted and how far she was willing to go. He was her eyes but there was also another person who was her eye sight.
She could feel him next to her. Her crystal eyes did not have to see him to know he was looking out for her, Vadimas. He had been by her side for what seemed like forever now. As they had entered the desert she felt the dry heat onto her skin. She knew they were almost there. He had shared stories with her and she listened patiently.
Crystaline was eager to be near her mother for the first time since her childhood. She wanted to know why her mother and Primus had disappeared or if it had all been a terrible accident.
